The shade of black they chose for the aluminum looks great in the press pics. I don't think it'll be as timeless as the 4/4S design though.

I have decent 3G speeds. YouTube loads up reasonably fast, and pages download reasonably quick. What do you need LTE for?

not enough

iPhone 5 is pretty underwhelming so far.

Waiting for some Apple fan to claim they invented 4G or the 4inch screen.

So yeah, three Foo Fighters tracks and now it's over.

5 looks very smooth, and since my BlackBerry contract ends next month I'm seriously considering getting it.

LOL yeah, 120 million players for previous iterations was it? But nah, new one is dead beore it's even launched...

I am the iPod Touch's market. I don't have a smartphone and I don't want one. I would like a small computation device without a contract. I own a Touch 4G and was looking forward to this but I can't justify $300 for it just because they want to market it like a point-and-shoot camera. Hell the 4G was using the same processor as the iPhone 4 and still only cost $250. For the other 50%+ of people who do have smartphones it's an unnecessary device and most of its use cases to them are far better served by a tablet, and these tablets start at half the price.

It's really not. The headphone cord won't be in the way as you interact with the phone.

Yeah, but when my phone is in my pocket and I want to listen to music, the stupid cord is going to be smooshed against the bottom of my pocket before making its way up to my head.

iPhone is much more than Music, web browsing and reading mail. plus you have LTE on the new iPhone which is faster in areas than what iPhone 4 had. if you just wanted Music, web browsing and reading mail, 3GS is still good enough

It's anecdotal of course ,but that's what I use it for. The 4 is my first smartphone really. LTE just makes things faster, of which I really don't have any need. Of course I use some of the other functions as well, from time to time (maps, youtube etc), but I've never found myself having any performance issues there either, or at least not on the level where I've felt compelled to upgrade.

I guess I just sort of reacted to your wording a bit; not much more than that, but I do feel a lot of people are in my situation as well, and have their purchase decisions heavily influenced by the media focus around them on new products, as opposed to an urgent need for new functionality.

This is Apple, if they offer $99 sound quality, they will be $199

like every other pair of headphones sold in retail. moving on.

What's the reasoning? Upside down phone in my pocket I can live with. I guess it makes more sense when you're holding it portrait-wise.

cord doesn't have to be micromanaged to keep from draping over the display, among other things. a number of phones and mp3 players have already made this move.
