Am I the only one kind of digging the dark iPod Nano? Do you guys have a feeling we'll get Spotify for it? I guess not..

I think I'm going for the lime green.

iPhone 5 is pretty underwhelming so far.

Waiting for some Apple fan to claim they invented 4G or the 4inch screen.

How insightful. Do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to? You clearly have well reasoned analysis and alot to add to a conversation. And, are you actually waiting for an Apple fan to claim that? Or is it just an intellectually lazy troll line?

A bit disappointed that the camera is the same as in the 4s. That seems to be a pretty significant oversight.

I wonder if AT&T will make those of us with the unlimited data switch to something else to get LTE. :(

At this point there are really better options out there given that AT&T kills you if you do hit 3GB

They already used the catch phrase before. And the iPhone 4 was a bigger leap over its predecessor than the iPhone 5.

The iphone 4 was basically - iphone 2 (the previous being updating versions of the iphone 1).
iphone 5 is just part of the iphone 2 range imo.

Their problem using that phrase is they can't use it every year, similar to the issue I have with calling this '5' as customers will begin to question continual 'must have' updates.

My feeling is that while its a nice phone, as someone with a 4S you have to do some deep DEEP soul searching to justify upgrading to it right now. As stated in the earlier thread, I'll wait for the 5S and see the phone they *really* wanted to build.

Smart move putting the jack on the bottom. I always put my phone upside down in my pocket.

This, I can't see how anyone could want the jack on the top unless the want it to rest upright in the pocket. Listening to music on my 4S has always been a pain because the cable dangles off to the side in an annoying way. I find myself pinning it to the back of the phone with the hand I hold it with just to get it out of the way. New jack placement is a good thing.

So since I'm still on a 3GS I should still upgrade right? All of you people not impressed or whatever are on 4s and not really needing the upgrade?

This.

I was ready to pre order but I just can't justify it. My 4S is more than ready to last me another year at the very least.

Pre-event thoughts:

Checking in, like I do for every Apple event thread.

Really not expecting many surprises on the iPhone front. Probably most of the well-worn rumors. Perhaps a few flourishes like panorama pictures (and perhaps that to make up for diminishing returns on camera improvement).

Think it's possible we'll see the iPhone line shaken up a bit. Would love to see the iPod classic killed off with a mega 128GB iPod Touch option to appease that market (of crazy people who think they need that :P ). Would also love an iPod Nano that's got WiFi (iTunes Match) and/or Bluetooth (Siri remote).

And... post-game.

I was surprised by only one thing in the event: dynamic LTE antenna. I was wondering how they were going to address the massive confusion of SKUs for every region with LTE and it sounds like they solved the case.

Does this mean one SKU in America, not three?

This is some really interesting UI from the Nano, i'm really happy that they're rethinking many of the elements for the smaller screen. It makes sense, but it's also good to know they aren't lazy.

Apple store still hasn't updated here :( I thought I'd only upgrade my iPhone this year, but that Nano sure is sexy.

Why would you upgrade your phone after less than 12 months?

Just woke up and caught up on the thread and live blog on The Verge.

I really hope the iTunes rewrite didn't fuck things up usably. I like the look though. Hopefully it'll be nice and fast since it's rewritten. Hopefully not a watered down "start over" like iMovie HD was when they originally rewrote that.

The phone looks amazing. I probably should have just bought the cheapest Virgin phone I could get to wait for this but I'm happy with my 4S. But it won't stop me from really wanting a 5. Maybe I'll get lucky and Virgin won't even offer it for a long time to prevent me from having the option.

I currently have a white 4S and would probably stick with a white 5/5S/6/whatever unless it looks wrong. But to me, the white 4S is amazingly beautiful and I feel bad keeping a shitty red cover on it to protect the back. Now that it's aluminum I guess it wouldn't be a problem as much. But I'd love to have the iPhone in other colors than white and black. Something red or orange really. Maybe yellow. Yellowish orange. Something in that hue area.

Glad iOS 6 is out next week though. That'll be good enough for now. Can't believe iTunes is a month away. I really want to try it out now. I assume OS X 10.8.2 will also come out the same day as iOS 6. Gonna be a good day.

ipod touches are super popular with kids. As a parent of a child who has broken two ipod touches, I appreciate them adding a strap...
Yeah. I really could have used a strap when I dropped my 4G iPod touch face down on the concrete and shattered the screen trying to take a picture.

ehh, to me the LTE alone makes it worthwhile. I live in Canada though and there is LTE galore here.

Look kinda dangerous for something like a radio/speaker accessory. My ipod touch connects at an angle on the top which means it would be putting stress on the small new connector constantly.

I would be worried about it snapping and getting stuck in my new device

something like this:

I have an iPhone 4. I don't know what I want to do.

- I could keep paying $73/mo and get an iPhone 5.
- I could buy out of my contract, switch to Wind Mobile, get a Galaxy S3, and pay $32 a month for the same service.
- I could wait out the remaining 9 months of my contract, then switch to Wind.

The white ones looks like toys though.

I like the attention to detail in the fact that the symbol on the home button is a circle, cause that's the shape of the icons.

previously available in 18,000 0.99 apps, now spend hundreds to upgrade your phone

Do the panorama apps work like what they show in the video (@ 3:45)? If so, that's pretty great, never realized it was done so seamlessly, always thought they were apps that stitched multiple pictures together. The way it looks in the video makes it seem so effortless, just pan the phone and done.
