Teamed up with the first random I saw int eh first match of the server slam (solo queuing for now). We both died later lol.

Just finished second run and started with a free loadout. I call in the elevator, some other guy runs in to jack it and then I slip back in the last moment.

Interesting but the last time i heard people bragging about their smart enemy was with dl the beast, then i played the game...

Did you personally noticed something different from your average enemy ai while you were playing the game??
I have limited time with it but can't wait to delve into it more but the bigger enemies in the builds I have played are something to be feared and avoided of you are not geared up. If you alert them to your presence they will hunt you down.

Not sure if they have toned it down for the full release.

Well there is not a friend function in it so you go by trust which most likely ends up with a backstab.
It really depends. I've had good luck teaming up with randoms mostly in solo queue matches. Me and a group of friends actually managed to team up with another trio once. Just a gang of six running around lol.

It largely depends on what each player has loot wise. If both players have good shit and want to escape then there is a high chance they will team up. Wouldn't even be worth to fight and on top of that probably wouldn't have inventory space to loot anyway.

Some of the takes on this board are fucking absurd sometimes mate.
Lol, you are right but I genuinely understand his sentiment. Concord was instantly "readable". You knew what you were doing in the very first match. With ARC Raiders there's tons to learn. You kind of have to understand the language of these games before you can start to actually play in the sandbox.

But when you find other players you have to kill them most of the time right?
Not necessarily. You can kill each other, you can avoid each other, you can even extract together. Sometimes when you're in a pvp situation, bots will join in and you decide to team up because the bot might be a bigger threat. Encounting other players is a very dynamic situation.
Right now I can imagine that people go for pvp though because the loot and your progress dont carry over to the full release. So its more about trying out combat right now rather than estimating wether or not it's worth it to engage another player.

I've been watching CohhCarnage and shroud streams for a while.

80% of the time is spent looting without much interaction with anything else, and the last 20% of the match/when you are extracting is when something exciting actually happens. Is this what kids like these days?

Maybe by actually playing the game you can actually feel the tension, but by just watching these streams I'm unimpressed. I will try to play a couple of games when I get home anyway to see what all of this is about.

This isn't a crazy statement.

ARC Raiders is Dostoevsky. It's way more dense than standard shooter fair.
ARC Raiders is shit wrapped in gold foil.

It's too bad since the game looks highly polished minus a connection error here and there. The cosmetics system isn't as good as The Finals which is the best in the industry.

The big picture is that unless you team up with mates and communicate enough to deal with oncoming enemies the game isn't fun and no sound design, quirky elevator door system or intricate AI system for the drones is gonna change that cursed gameplay loop of spawning weirdly into a specific spot of the map, going to a location, looting the place up, going to another spot, looting some more, getting ambushed or ambushing some randos.

Also, the game was announced as a looter shooter in 2021 but since then they morphed into an extraction shooter only, with 5 maps and 1 game mode that's barebones launch territory. Despite all its iteration, they still left the body type A/B; I'm sure there is still some wokery left in the dialogue and store NPCs. Guess they didn't get the memo.

At 40€ in a post Helldivers 2/CO33 with a packed fall release schedule and a huge boring barrier of entry the game is a no buy.

Bingo right on the money.

what happens if i queue solo and dont auto fill? I have done zero research into the game, is it PvPvE? or would it just be my own PvE world?

It's PvPvE, yes. If you Solo queue it will prioritize other people doing the same. On very rare occasions you will face duos or trios.

Same thing if you queue as a Duo, it will prioritize others doing the same.

Yeah that doesn't sound exciting at all...

3 player squads only? Hard pass I guess. I don't understand why these coop devs don't support multiple squad sizes. If a coop game doesn't support the squad size that works for my friends, it is a hard pass.

Played a few matches.

Not sure on it yet. Feels like I would get bored quite quickly with it. Will play some more with friends tonight see if it hooks me.

Yeah, I think I've decided this just isn't for me. There are great things about it, but there are other things that just don't interest me. PvPvE is really up in the air for me, and is pretty hit or miss. I enjoyed Dark & Darker, and I enjoyed Hunt. But that's really about it.

I will say that I'm looking forward to Hunger.

Played a few rounds. Some really early first impressions.

Good:

-Presentation, art direction, premise, environment, audio, visuals, performance, movement etc.
-Easy to understand. Systems and invenotry don't seem as convoluted or tedious as other extraction games, at least not yet.

Things I personally don't like:
-Looting feels bad. I don't like the time it takes to reveal items. It's also full screen, so you can't see anything while looting and you have to press ESC to end looting which is annoying.
-I can't stand stamina in video games. There are perks to mitigate its use but I'd feel like I'm wasting perks just for that purpose when I could potentially get something more useful.
-Third person is fine but also sucks in multiplayer games because of corner cheesing. We're all on the same playing field, but I'd have preferred first person.
-Would be nice to know if I'm going up against duos/trios when I'm queuing solo, but I guess the uncertainty adds to the game's tension.

Game would especially be fun with friends but could also be good solo.

The game explains almost nothing. I've played Hunt Showdown quite a lot, but this seems to be more oriented towards Tarkov players. This endless, slow looting is really not my thing.
