Arcade Fire announce "The Suburbs"

After tonight's show, I just feel like posting this, in case anyone hasn't seen it. An awesome performance, and what really sold me on the band:

Live on Conan in February '05

As for the set they played tonight, I think it contained pretty much every song you could logically expect them to play — all the hits and whatnot. I do think it's sort of odd that Sprawl II is already an encore song, but I'm sure they're aware it's already the consensus stand-out track on the record.

Achtung Baby is better than anything you or your scarf collection have ever done.

They played 3 neon bible songs
And 5 or 6 suburbs songs
The rest was all funeral

Really wanted suburban war or city With no children

THE Arcade Fire

oh conan
I still call them The Arcade Fire. I just like how it sounds better. :x

it definitely helps in correct sentence structure

that is a pretty incredible performance though, especially for late night's notoriously horrid mixing. sounded fantastic.

Arcade Fire is much more the indie Talking Heads than the indie U2. Thankfully. But still not much like them either.

Damn that was in '05? I feel old. Doesn't seem that long ago.

I remember it very well.

What does this shit even mean? Stop being so butthurt that I dislike a band. My scarf spits at you.

You really couldn't ask a band for a better concert. They literally played their best songs throughout their whole catalog.
They played every song from all their albums, and their EP and their B sides/singles?

Yeah, seriously. Looks fucking cool on the webcast, too. Nice job, Terry.

Terry did such an amazing job (if it was actually him :lol ) with the Tunnels intro w/ snow and with the insane Power Out/Rebellion.

I think the only artist I can think of who's done close to that was Keiichi Sokabe. The dude played like a 7 hour long set or something back in '07.

Regine sounded way off during Sprawl II. I don't know if it was the mics or what. Didn't sound too hot.
She was holding back, I think her levels were off. She didn't hold back on the first line of the song both times, then proceeded to tone it down.

I listened to The Suburbs again (second time). This album is truly longer than I remember it being a few days ago. Too long. Holy hell, it's still playing.

I don't get why people ever complain an album is too long, unless you've lost your limbs and can't skip a track you don't like. Who gives a shit.

As it is, I pretty much love all the tracks, so eh.

i know it's been a few years but Hotel is a nice change of pace from the stuff Broken Social Scene normally does, all without becoming some different band altogether. a nice evolution, i guess, hopefully we'll see it rise up as a sequel. i tuned out for some parts of the album tho so while it's not a smash success, BSS's self-titled album didn't disappoint me one bit -- despite my hype for a new release

still love You Forgot it In People most tho. their best album to date

Simply put, the length of the album is long. Since the songs are half decent (based on opinion) it makes the album feel like it drags on even longer. That's all there is to it. Skipping doesn't solve anything, so it's not helpful to suggest it.

Is there anywhere i can watch the whole thing online? I missed it because of time difference. their youtube channel only has a couple of songs.

Oh, I didn't know Owen actually played with the band. Cool.

I know he's worked with them on every album, usually string arrangements. Was he with the band yesterday? I didn't watch the web cast, I'll be seeing them on Sunday night at Lollapalooza! Excited that Owen might be playing with them though. :D

At least during Wednesday's show, she was running around so much I think she was pretty tired by the time they got to Sprawl II. She is amazing, she's like a one man band running to a new instrument almost every song.

I found this quite hilarious for some reason
