Are Creative Nomad Zen Mp3 players good?

I have been looking for an MP3 player and the price of these Creative Labs ones and general good reviews on Amazon have me wondering if I should go for one of these instead of an Ipod. I have been looking at two models.

This one:

The top one has a 30GB HD and is $199 and the bottom one is a newer model I think and has a 20GB HD for $224. Anyways does anyone here have any MP3 players from Creative Labs Or heard anything about them? Are they any good and reliable if so?

goddamit, Griese!
i've got the top one you posted, and i love it. worth the money saved compared to getting an ipod.
the way you select songs(little dial thing) leaves a lot to be desired, but it's not that big of a deal. i'd say go for it.
ipods are nicer and a bit better as far as user interface, but for $100+ less, I can take an extra 15 seconds to find the music i want.

I just got mine in the mail today. It is a bit more clunky then the picture will have you believe, but it's certainly not bad looking, and it's easy enough to navigate. Get's a hearty recommendation if you're looking for a good value.

When I had that, I loved the dial.

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
Pa da pa da da, I'm loving it! Oh sorry, just so much love in this thread. I've got the 30GB version of the above player. It's good, and you're not going to beat Creative when it comes to audio quality. My only gripe would be that the hard drive/data caddy function of the device seems like an afterthought. Windows won't recognize the device as a standard UMD and you have to use Creative's driver in order to dump data other than music on it. Even then, large data transfers seem kinda iffy sometimes. If you plan on using it just for music though, you've got a winner, and it's shitloads cheaper than an equivalent iPod. I've seen the 30GB ones for like $150 after rebates sometimes.

I hate myself for buying an iPod. I fell into the emo-elitist bullshit hype. My main problem with iPod is iTunes. It's just terrible when it comes to audio fidelity (same goes to iPod). I got this SRS XT for WMP10, and my audio is back from the dead. I can't use iTunes anymore. So I'm looking at a Nomad as well. Plus I prefer WMP anyways.

Smegging smeg of a smeg!
I already had the top model when I got my free iPod from that promotional site. I sold the iPod after a week or so and kept the Creative. They're good. :)
