Are you comfortable with 3rd party games being 70$ in this gen?

I feel it like this:

The more expensive they get, the less iam willing to buy them.

I just wait for them to get 50 % off someday

I like to buy my games when they are discounted or sometimes on eBay 2nd hand physical, don't have problems with spending money on something I like but was disappointed with lots of highly rated titles and now I am looking for ways to play these at lowest possible cost. Most games 3rd or 1st party doesn't deserve this higher price.

I'm not bothered by a general price increase because there aren't many games I'm interested in enough to pay full price at launch for. If it's something I really want to play, I go for the digital deluxe editions anyway.

it's still less than taking your girlfriend / wife out for a nice dinner. You can't ejaculate in a video game.

So they should just jack it up 10 more since it's so trivial, and maybe 10 more or maybe 10 more

Who cares? It's only 10.00

Right?
Video game prices haven't gone up with inflation for like 15 years, use a better argument.

They cost as much as movies and movies were on sale for $35 on disney plus and that's 2 hours of entertainment - games give me 8 or more hours of entertainment.

I see a good value prop.

Try again.

For a single player game, probably not. Unless its something big like a brand new Elder Scrolls. A multiplayer game I expect to put many hours in make sense for $70, but even then, their monetization might be horrible.

Well, most folks won't care initially. So, third parties will see a good bump in revenue in the beginning. However, there's only a finite amount of money, and they're not delivering "more game" for the price bump - see Sony's PS4 -> PS5 upgrade fee. So, after a while, I believe the price hike will equate to less copies sold initially at the higher price, and that'll hurt them in the long run.

From my personal perspective, the current price AUD$100.00 means I can buy only a few games at release each year. I have to pick and chose the ones I want to play right away. For everything else, I have to wait for discounts. With Sony's push to make all their games AUD$125.00, and other publishers testing the waters, I'll be able to afford even less. So, instead of making AUD$100.00 on some of my purchases, anyone who goes to AUD$125.00 will have to settle for making ~AUD$60.00 of every purchase I make because I simply won't be able to afford their games at release. I suspect I won't be the only one in that boat.

Game prices decrease fairly quickly (with the exception of Nintendo..) so I'm not too bothered by it.

The thing that annoys me is that they increase the prices while still keeping all the mtx and other bad practices that they've come up with to try to make more money in the games. They can increase the price to $100 for all I care as long as they give me a finished product.

If someone wants tovbuy them for $70, I'm fine with that. I can wait few months and buy Ratchet and Saxkboy on PS5 for approx $70 (incl tax) for both or actually $44 (incl tax) after using some coupons I have).

Most launch games are still 50-59€ on launch week(one chain almost always have these launch week discounts here), after that they jump to 69€, rarely to 79€

But it doesnt really matter as I almost never buy games on launch, unless it is some rare must have title

Just wait 1-3 weeks and buy it used for 30-40€

IMO there is no point to rage about game prices because no one forces us to pay full price(except nintendo) and games arent essential items.

SNES games did cost like 150-200€ on todays money so PS5 games are still cheap compared to that

I only buy games once they're 50-70% off, so I guess if wanted to buy one of these 70 dollar games when they're eventually on sale I'll have to pay an extra $3-5.

If it's a game I really want then I suppose the extra is negligible.

For me 10€ difference doesn't really matter. If game is good I can pay even more, maybe over 100€ will start to feel too much.

I´ve been buying almost exclusively from keyshops for a good decade on PC. Can`t even remember when the last time was that I paid more than ~40€ for a game on release.
And on console I buy the physical copy, either new or used, and sell it right after game completion again since I never replay games anyways, so I don`t care too much about the price increase there.

It's not that big of an issue. Sure, you can't just look up low prices like you can with steam keys on websites like gg.deals, but there's still a lot of sales for console games. It goes down to just waiting a bit, unless you really want the game day 1.
