Fuck all of you guys who are not into immersive sims, they were they only renowned studio left making them and now I have to deal with this shit.
You realize Arkane has two separate studios, right? And this one is being done by the one in Texas?

I'm aware but this new direction under the new parent makes me cynical about Arkane's direction as a whole. You realize Arkane has two separate studios, right? And this one is being done by the one in Texas?
I mean.. obviously it's playtest images. But like even the reveal cgi trailer seemed to indicate to me that this is probably going to be another one of those back 4 blood or bleeding edge games. Just doesn't look inspired like other Arkane games. It's unfortunate but we'll see I guess once gameplay is officially shown..
But you know that both games have nothing to do with MS?but this new direction under the new parent makes me cynical about Arkane's direction as a whole.
Bro, can you read? You're just a fortune teller aren't you? Do you know how old that build is? Do you have a current build of the game to see how it now in current stage? I mean with your intuition just tell us how it's going to be we don't even need to wait to actually see the final product.
But you know that both games have nothing to do with MS?
Because they're both working on it since 2017/18 (Incubation Teams)
Right so right after Dishonored 2 and Prey. But you know that both games have nothing to do with MS?

No one knows when this build is fromPre-pre Alpha? Isn't it launching next year?
No one knows when this build is from
Summer 2022.There's that, certainly. But was a release date communicated? Is it expected to be done by next year?

The game obviously started development years ago (2017/18 according to some on here), and was probably conceived with xbone and PS4 in mind.Bro, can you read?
Where did I say the game will look bad or won't improve visually? It will improve, but the fact is that it has ~9 months before release (until the release is delayed), so it's okay to wonder how much a developer can improve in 9 months. For recent references, we saw TLOU 2 as well as God of War's gameplay two years before their respective release dates. Spider-Man's gameplay 1+ year. Returnal's gameplay 1+ year. Avenger's gameplay ~1 year before. How much improvement did we see in the final products? There are countless examples.
Anyway, graphics aren't the main thing for me. The fact that Arkane is doing a generic looter-shooter with an item shop for MTX as their first game under MS is way worse for me. That's because I think they are the most talented Zenimax studio.
Isn't it current-gen only? I don't think it's coming on Xbox One and One X, is it?The game obviously started development years ago (2017/18 according to some on here), and was probably conceived with xbone and PS4 in mind.
They'll just polish it as best as they can before release. But it is at heart a cross gen game no doubt. Expecting more or rubbishing it is either naive or trolling
Yep. I believe Dishonoured 2 under-performed and Prey certainly under-performed. Deathloop being a timed exclusive was clearly a decision to offset its development cost, and a multiplayer looter shooter comedy gothic horror open world MTX immersive sim game sounds something designed purely to be a revenue stream rather than coming from a place of passion. Hopefully once these two are done we'll see Arkane making something inspired. This is probably the result of their SP games flopping left and right pre aquisition
Now that they have stability w/ MS I hope they'll go back to their roots after Redfall and Deathloop

I wouldn't overthink the criticism. The game is an Xbox exclusive and shitting on everything Xbox is a badge of honor on this site. This clearly looks very early in development. Ya'll are really gonna judge this game based off of that? Have any of Arkane's recent games looked that bad? C'mon.
Uhm no. A cgi trailer shows a game how its not going to play. Redfall is now another case of this.Actually, this is precisely why you announce games with a CGI trailer.
purely to be a revenue stream
Don't conflate profit with "revenue stream". Every game is created to make a profit, and balancing creativity against profitability has been happening since most of us were born. By revenue stream, I mean an on-going source of profitable income from an established player base via micro-transactions. Most developers and/or publishers want a reoccurring revenue stream from one of their games because it allows you to make dramatically more money off of a smaller number of players if it lands well. Its a risk, but if it works out well, you have Fortnight money, CS:GG money, or LoL money pouring in.Most games created by a company (especially independent publishers) are designed to be a revenue stream though. Commercial game development is about finding a balance of both. Fortunately being a part of xbox now means that games can 'successful' in slightly different ways.

For a game out next summer there should be stuff that you can show from the game.
CGI trailers are cancer. If you dont have anything playable to show then dont bother.
"A vampire sim".....did you not see the unveiling trailer? Or you just trollin?Really wanted a vampire sim from them instead of this crap.
Such a dissapointment. Even more so knowing the state bloodlines is in.
Don't conflate profit with "revenue stream"
Not really, you're conflating terms. This isn't how "revenue stream" is used in this discussion. Put simply: a game is not a revenue stream, a game creates revenue streams. Base game sales are a revenue stream - this can be sub-divided into physical and digital, but this is usually combined for financial discussions. Micro-transactions are another revenue stream. It is a separate mechanism through which one product can create profit for the company. Mario Odyssey still selling units four years after its launch is not comparable to Fortnight which is able to sell micro-transactions to the same set of players indefinitely.I am not. I am saying that every product is a "revenue stream" , some are designed to have longer legs aka via techniques like mtx but both set of products are revenue streams. Certain rare games like Nintendo IP's have relatively long legs without MTX, just cause they have great attach rates.

It an open world game with quests and stuff. It's more akin to Borderlands than it is a horde shooter like Back 4 Blood.I mean.. obviously it's playtest images. In what way did they ever show anything SIM related? Did we watch different trailers? What are you talking about?

I think the game looks pretty neat and interesting overall. Its just getting undeserved flak because MS put it on a pedestal as a "and one last thing".
Why are you assuming it's a very old build and playtest? The leaker explicitly mentioned that it was a recent playtest. Why would they test an old build and not the latest build? Are we not going by common sense anymore? Can you share how you know the date of this build they're using in the play test?
Thank you for reminding me of Replaced again. It looks so good! It's still an early build so can't give final judgement on things like visuals until gameplay is revealed proper. However from the description it doesn't sound like my personal type of game I'd be into, and it's already looking a bit samey with this, that Back 4 Blood game and the Vampire game they showed at the PS conference Thursday, all coming within a few months of each other apparently.
Arkane is usually a safe bet for quality games though, so little doubt it'll be a polished, fun game especially for the audience that'll take to it. It's just personally not a game I'm seeing myself investing too much time into but that comes down to taste/preference. Xbox-wise for 2022 Starfield and Replaced still have the most appeal to me, easily (STALKER 2 as well but that's "practically" a multiplat since the exclusivity window is so short (3 months)).
