He won't go to GiantBomb. First of all, I think GB is quite happy with the staff they have (and they've said that fairly clearly), and secondly, has he ever had any connection to the GB crew?
I find it somewhat amusing that any time a gaming journalist leaves a company or a site someone says "What if they go to GiantBomb?"
In this case, it is possible. He says he's not leaving the area, and he's staying in the games press. He says he's leaving for "an opportunity too good to pass up," and for Arthur the first thing I think of is Giant Bomb, as he has constantly talked about that site and his creepy stalker tendencies towards Gerstmann. Moreover, this is happening right before the big games rush season; if Giant Bomb were to want to hire a new editor, it would make total sense for them to make the move now so that they could alleviate the pains of the mass-reviewing season. Lastly, as much as I dislike Arthur, he is incredibly well-informed, and would probably be a real good fit for Giant Bomb, as he gets along with the guys there fairly well, it seems.
However, I don't think they should make a move like that before their annual subscriber-push, which hasn't happened yet. Doesn't make sense to me to hire another body when you don't have any idea what your financials are going to look like yet. Also, they just hired Klepek a few months ago, and Navarro sort of works for Giant Bomb too these days, so the timing doesn't quite add up.
So, maybe he's doing something with Hilary Goldstein now that he's left IGN? Maybe a new startup? Or it could just be as simple as a little bit higher position than what he had at IGN over at Gamespot.
What other gaming "press" (magazines too) exist in the SF area?
