I had a phase were I did a self portrait every week using different techniques. Just trying to capture my emotions

Always awesome to see these threads. There used to be another one around here somewhere and I even posted some stuff there. But here we go, here's my contribution, from digital painting to 3D:

Thank you. I still time to time sell a painting or a work but nowadays is rarely, it is becoming a hobby.
Cool! Just a hobby for me, it's almost like therapy tbh, I wouldn't say it's just doodling but I rarely have a plan when I first start, things just keeps on evolving like I said before.

Btw, in Procreate you can create time-lapses, it records every time you place the pen down to the screen and then lift it up again as one frame in a video, really cool.
The evolution of a pirate, smudge tool craziness, it's almost like working in clay

I was thinking of trying out some drawing courses on websites such as Skillshare. Anyone ever tried those? Really want to start improving and I figure taking some classes would be of benefit. I've been going outside and sketching what I see as I've been recommended that by a few people.

I tried a few. I find that they are only worth if you're either a real beginner, or you're just trying to learn a very specific technique. And even then, most of the time you can just search youtube for some good replacements, like just watching some pro draw live on Proko, does wonders for your own improvement.
Also, depending on what you are looking for, you can also try and find local classes in your area. Those are more expensive, but you'll prolly get a lot more for your money.
As for going outside and drawing, that's one of the best ways of improving anyways :messenger_bicep:

Yeah that's what I'm going to do, I think. I'll stick to Youtube and continue going out into the world and trying to draw what I see. I also had a look at some local classes, but they're VERY beginner focused, so I don't think the money is worth spending. Thanks for the tips!

Some more stuff I drew between summer and the end of the year. I didn't draw that much; I think I need to be more consistent if I want to improve.

I dare not call myself an artist, but late last year I was inspired to try and teach myself how to draw again for a while. Started practicing on paper, but found I just didn't enjoy using pencils and paper much because I made too many mistakes that needed correcting, so I bought myself a wacom tablet, and found I enjoyed digital drawing a lot more. Did a few sketches I was pretty happy with, then I got daring with a some color. I was really proud and happy with this drawing I did of Hikaru from Magic Knight Rayearth.

Unfortunately, I didn't do a whole lot more drawing after this, because I hit a roadblock that sorta discouraged me: trying to draw hands. Omg, I couldn't get them right for so darn long no matter how much I tried to study and do hands. The proportions are so hard to get just right. Feet are just as tricky. I'd like to go back and attempt more practice, but haven't built up the stamina and inspiration yet.

I think feet and hands are awful no matter what. Probably my least favourite part of whatever it is I'm drawing.

I went to arts school and college and I still struggle to draw hands. I can draw faces and even body poses with almost no reference. But hands…. those little bastards. I feel they are one of those things I'll have to practice my entire life and still not master it entirely. Not that I don't find them fun to draw, but they are definitely the part I usually spend the most time in a drawing and not because I want to.

Bought a used Ipad last year. I rarely use paper any more. I want to learn to use brushes and effects, I feel like I'm using it like its pencil and paper still.

That's actually Chomatic Aberration effect that people hate the most in game lol.

I have terrible handwriting and I think because of this I can't draw that well, but I like to design something on the minecraft once in a while
