FFXIV has plenty of measures so you can enjoy the game by yourself. Does DQX have similar measures?
You can borrow companions from the Pub so that you always have a full party, even if you're playing solo. It's actually had it from the beginning making the game very playable for everyone. Playing with a friend is always better and there's some content that you'll get randomly matched up with for folks (raid-ish content) but like 80% of the content can be done alone. They balance this out a bit by tying the level of your companions to your own level. So if you're level 57, the characters you can rent from the pub are level 57. However, this doesn't apply people you add to your friends' list. You should be able to rent them regardless of your level which makes it easier to go through content by yourself.
Additionally, gear progression isn't tied to dungeons like a lot of MMOs. The best gear in the game is actually crafted and enchanted by players who put it up on the bazaar/auction house for sale. In the last few years, they also added a solo dungeon that drops that gear but with random enchantments as an alternative way of getting it. So it's got a little bit of a loot RPG/Diablo feel to it if you enjoy doing that. Only accessories are obtained via boss fights in this and they're all pretty much soloable with a bit of work and there's multiple ways to get those too.
So yeah, it's super solo friendly. I've played like 90% of my entire time in DQX as a solo player.
