Assassin's Creed Brotherhood |OT| where my bro's at?

Gvaz said:
I just finished the game yesterday and it seems that it's
implied that Lucy is a double crossing templar spy.

That's not how I took it.

It's implied that the Assassin's are hybrids of the ancient race that created humans, and humans. Hence why Assassin's have supernatural senses such as Assassin vision and whatnot.

It's important to remember that the Assassin's and the ancient race are NOT the same. The ancients could have an agenda entirely their own, they could feel Lucy is a threat for some reason we don't know, or it could be as simple as requiring an assassin's blood for a ritual. Remember, the other guy was found and trained by the assassin's, but he wasn't born one like Lucy and Desmond.

"The path must be opened, the scales must be balanced."

Sounds like 'a life for a life' to me. But what is the 'life' they are creating?

Also there's gonna be a tower defense minigame!!!!

Damn, was that just revealed today? I saw that in both an IGN article and a destructoid article.

Both agreed that the new platforming areas where you find the keys were way better than the Romulus Lairs or Assassin Dens.

I recently got a new PS3 and I'm seeing some crazy color banding in this game. Straight up translucent squares and lines when I look to the sky. Is this how this game is? I don't remember it looking like that on my phat ps3.

Just started playing this on PC. Aside from the annoying white gradient when you look down, and the generally low polycounts, this game looks impressive. They made some serious upgrades to the lighting engine coming from AC2. I'm noticing some much appreciated SSAO as well.

There's some really interesting shadow mapping that's going on on the character meshes themselves which looks fantastic. For example, take a look at the shadowing in the folds of Desmond's hoodie:

edit: actually, this might be ambient occlusion on the characters themselves. Really high quality ambient occlusion, at that. Do the console versions have that?

Just beat the davinci dissapearance, really loved it, but i thought it was just rebuild rome 100% and 100% synch for the achievement, so i'm still a long ways off :(.

The folds is just caused by the normal maps and the presence of the dynamic light in the flashlight thing.

BTW jett, your problem always happened at least on PS3, if not PS3 and 360.

Amazing. This game has some amazing skyboxes. Also, this is my favorite outfit in the entire series.

Just finished this. The story keeps getting more and more "WTF" but I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I do think that after Revelations, they need to upgrade some of the free running because man, Ezio is a klutz sometimes. And not being able to wall run horizontally, at least a little bit, is awkward and holds back level design. I do hope the hookblade in Revelations speeds up the climbing as well.

And since the story is already totally crazy, I'm still hoping that either Revelations or Assassin's Creed III
pulls some nonsense where Desmond isn't actually the "present" of the storyline and we've been playing as a descendant of Desmond in a Blade Runner-like future looking through an Animus reliving how Desmond saved everything because another threat is approaching....or something. Twists all up in this piece

Loving this game. Why does it feel like this game was so overlooked? It's a huge step up from Assassin's Creed II.

I got it a week or two back and sidelined it because I only completed AC2 a few months ago. This is promising to hear, I felt it might end up too samey for me to jump into so quickly.

Seeing as I'm getting frustrated at Dark Souls, and have had my GT5 fix, I think I'll boot up Brotherhood finally!

Gamers tend to have bias over game series that release a game once per year. They fail to realize the efficiency of devs these days.

I'm not going to lie, it's pretty samey. It just feels more refined, and with a lot more to do. If you liked Assassin's Creed II, I assume you would like this even more.

It was a great game but it wasn't a huge step up. The free running and combat is largely the same and I don't really expect that to change much in Revelations.

INCEPTION

So im in sequence 3 with five Rifts done, and I think five feathers collected, and five Borgia towers completed. Is it possible to collect all of those/free the regions in this or the next sequence? I was expecting more challenge with the towers but all have been a walk in the park.

i think some are only available after sequence 4 or 5, i think anyway so your close to finishing em. and unless some areas are still locked off with the white animus wall thing your free to get all the feathers and rifts/glyph crap too.

and yeah i dont think the towers posed a massive challenge, they were fun and pretty unique but getting to the main guy was quite easy.

The combat was largely improved in Brohood and Rev looks to step it way up in the free running department.
How so?

I know there are lines you can traverse with the hookblade, is that what you're talking about? Or is there more?

Just wait till the end of the game then go back and unlock everything.

Well, there are the ziplines, of course, but you can also leap up buildings a heck a lot faster now as well as being able to make longer jumps without falling. You can also launch your self pretty far forward on those hanging pots.

Anybody up to do some AC:B multiplayer (360) in the next week or so? I just started playing last night and I was kind of curious if I could get the MP achievements before the game dies off completely with AC:R hitting soon. Maybe we can get some GAF games going and maybe a little boosting if needed (apparently the Level 50 cheeve is a real problem, sigh).

My tag is the same if you're up for it.

COPERNICUS CONSPIRACY
breakau4s.png

Copernicus Conspiracy is a free downloadable content pack for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on the game's release. It focuses on the
famed astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who gets into trouble with the Vatican, who do not want Copernicus educating the public about astronomy. The pack consists of eight optional
missions, ranging from courier, assassination and protection objectives.

The plots starts with Nicolaus Copernicus sharing his teachings to a crowd within the Palazzo Senatorio, in clear defiance against the Templars' wishes. As Ezio arrives, Vatican guards
arrive to kill Copernicus to prevent his teachings from spreading. Ezio saves Copernicus and escorts him to a small safehouse outside the Colosseo. Copernicus, wanting to warn the other
scholars in Rome, gives Ezio letters to hand to them before they are assassinated by the guards. Whilst it is too late for one of the scholars, the others manage to escape. Upon arriving
back, Copernicus comes to the conclusion that it is the "Master", a man appointed by the Pope to keep Rome's philosophy pure, who ordered the killings. Ezio tails a cardinal to a meeting
with the Master and overhears a discussion of five of Rome's best guards going out to deal with the situation. Ezio kills them and reports back to Copernicus, who informs him that there is
a Lunar Eclipse he wishes to chronicle.

Ezio returns to Rome and kills the Master with his Hidden Blade. In his dying words, the Master reveals that guards are already on their way to kill Copernicus and that Ezio is too late.
Under the eclipse, Ezio rushes back to kill the guards before they get to Copernicus. After this, Copernicus indulges Ezio with some of his findings. Copernicus thanks Ezio, and the two go
their separate ways.

THE DA VINCI DISAPPEARANCE
breakau4s.png

The Da Vinci Disappearance is a singleplayer and multiplayer downloadable content pack for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. It can only be started after completing Sequence 3:
Memory 3. Set in 1506, after the fall of the Borgia in Rome, Leonardo da Vinci is kidnapped by the Hermeticists, an underground cult dedicated to "transforming mankind." Ezio must
embark on a relentless quest to recover stolen paintings in order to find Leonardo, who has apparently discovered the entrance to a hidden temple. Locations Ezio travels to include
Belriguardo Castle, where he encounters Lucrezia Borgia and the Pythagorian Temple.

The pack contains eight new singleplayer missions and two new locations, as well as two new gameplay features, including gambling in the Thieves Guild, and ten achievements. The
pack's multiplayer content includes two new game modes - Escort and Assassinate - a new map, Alhambra, and four new characters: the Dama Rossa, the Knight, the Marquis, & the
Pariah. Additionally, the console versions include the Harlequin, the Officer, the Helmschmied Drachen Armor and two Templar Lairs, all of which came with the core game's Limited
Codex Edition.

If that's the case then Wikipedia's Retail Edition chart is really confusing.

Yeah there is all sorts of preorder stuff and different editions but none is major dlc like the stuff above. I don't think you can get half that jazz anymore unless you can find a new copy of the limited edition somewhere. You might still be able to get the digital deluxe copy off steam though

Guess I should have specified that I was specifically looking at the Standard Edition column. The stuff they list under Single Player Maps and Multi-player Characters, are those just in the game without having to redeem a code and download? And the Helmschmied Drachen armor, says it's included with DLC but I'm guessing that means it's available to Standard Edition owners but they need to purchase the Da Vinci Disappearance DLC and not as like a code inside the box?

Appreciate the help guys, I'm kinda OCD with this stuff. Not OCD enough to pay out the ass for special editions though. If it makes a difference, I'm planning to get the Xbox 360 version. The slightly better performance and owning the first two games there for consistency edge it out over the PS3 version. And my PC isn't up to snuff to play modern games or I'd probably go with that.
