Assassin's Creed Shadows - Dual Paths: Naoe & Yasuke Walkthrough Video

Oh wow finally a official video showcasing gameplay. Lets see

Edit: Okay this looks good actually but the combat seems a bit bland? Compared to Ghost of Tsushima or even Rise of the Ronin...

A much more competent showing of the game. Imo, it basically confirms what many people have been saying for a while. if you liked the RPG games this one will be right up your alley, if you didn't this one won't change your mind. I appreciate some of the additions. I was pretty critical of this game for the longest time, but I've decided to make use of the Ubi+ thing to atleast sate my curiosity. Who knows, maybe it'll surprise me.

Wow...the delay seems to have paid off. I'm actually interested now.

100% playing the Inoue as much as possible.

I really like that it has different seasons

Yeah that's very cool.

Assassin's Creed 3 also had this (summer/winter at least) and you had to obtain an ingame cheat item to change seasons after finishing the game.

Looks alright. This one is going to depend on the reviews. I was thinking I'll just play 90% Naoe, but I may even choose the "Canon" path just to experience the gameplay variety and constraints. That should probably be the right way to review this game as well.

Nice video but no way that's console footage. Not even Pro. Too clean, too fluid. But typical Ubisoft shadyness with the Playstation buttons and all.

There's not effin' way I'm goin' to be play as Yasuke (outside of sections where you don't have a choice), not in a million years. Naoe all the way!

Combat looks like crap, which to me makes or breaks this type of game where you control a Samurai or Ninja.
You can tell it plays just like the other RPG Assassin's Creed games.

Sure but way more options than GoT at least. More weapons, grapple moves, and the ability to knock enemies into walls. It's like Sekiro having better combat than Dark Souls 3 but lacking the variety. There are pros and cons to both. I prefer the variety of Dark Souls, others prefer Sekiro even though you only have one weapon.

Thank Jesus they went back to gear scores like Odyssey and Origins, after Valhalla. I had no interest in this one for the longest time…now I might grab it.

What better way is there to ruin stealth for ninja than wearing super bright and red armour with lots of stuff that will create noise during movement? Sam Fisher does not approve(n):messenger_confused:

alright... but Sam had literal LED lights on his suit tho :messenger_loudly_crying:

So you'll buy the game but not play as one of the main characters for reasons?
Exactly. And the reason why is I just don't like Yasuke at all and much less his brain-dead gameplay. I am all about stealth and it's just so happens that there's female Ninja in the game to provide me with just that and even more so with a lot better movement, parkour, gadgets etc.

Like, if there was a choice to play the whole game as Aya (originally was the main character, before they changed that) or boring as all hell Bayek in AC Origins, I'd choose Aya any day of the week cuz she's a massively better character.

If you actually believe what Ubisoft devs said about it in regards to classic trilogy, they're there only for you to see Sam in the darkness.

Looks polished, long distance views are nice. Problem is probably boring story, but if combat is fun for my taste, there is still value in typical open ended ubisoft formula. But I think I will wait for sale or game pass.

This is what I am worried about too. If the writing and the narrative are shit, then I dont think I can stomach 80 hours of gameplay

Btw they probably made yasuke more skilled with stealth after hearing people malcontent.

Not sure if he had the ability to go prone before this video and his stealth kill doesn't alarm the whole castle like before.

Yep, sushima was supremely monotone (and nowhere as good as sekiro type of monotone)

Lack of weapons
Lack of enemy variety

Shadows is probably gonna be way more varied like the previous games at the very least.

Why does Yasuke have to be so extra with the violence? Dude is like Jason Vorhees
Exactly. His armored gameplay is a walking tank and that character archetype's hits should have the power to rip and shred like the gif posted above.

(I hope there is a secret greatsword weapon in the game)

I like that his stealth is based more on sniping with a bow rather than advanced climbing and acrobatics. I think it was a smart decision on their part.

I hate that, because it means that the stealth specialist doesn't have all the stealth tools, she only has kunais that are anot a good alternative to a war bow.

In past ac i liked clearing a camp by using all the stealth tools so yeah i'm still not happy about the 2 character gimmick.

This would only bother me depending on the kunai range. If they both have a similar range with similar lethality it's less of a big deal to me.

I'm more curious about how the game mechanics work when they are in the same location and how the A.I. will behave in a situation like this. I also want to know more about the harder difficulties and settings.

I hope they will have an "Unfair" difficulty mode where you can die in 1-2 hits, to make the game more challenging.

Watch the luke stephens preview, he speak about changing from normal to hard and how the ai moves in the environment.

Btw a kunai should not have the same range and power of a bow, it would be retarded even for videogame standards.

All latest ac rpgs had a very hard mode where you die in a couple of hits, the problem is that enemies also get more tanky so it's kinda of an artificial difficulty instead of something like lethal mode in sushima where the enemies also die in a couple of hits.

I personally prefer tanky enemies over killing everything with 2 hits but i know a lot of people don't like to wack a dude 20 times to kill him, i personally don't enjoy a fight where everything die super fast.

Ubisoft have dropped the ball many times with this game but the recent outrage about the level of violence and destruction is a really weird concern. Rise of the Ronin also had dismemberment, decapitations, murdering praying peasants and being able to smash through shrines like a bull in a china shop, and no one batted an eyelid.

"Change your headgear to [random item] for a PLUS TWO assassination UI bar!" so now you magically can one shot him thanks to this hat you're wearing

"This is a tough enemy so you can't assassinate them immediately" in the game called assassin's creed
