I generally try and stay out of these fanboy threads, but when is MS going to start advertising for Xbox360? My casual friends haven't heard anything about PS3 or Xbox360. Then again I am comparing this to the buzz that surrounded PS2.

I doubt either console can come up with that kind of hype.

After X05, expect it to all get ratcheted up. Advertisements in every god-damn game store across the country. TV ads for two months up until Black Friday on Thanksgiving, and right all the way through Christmas. Think Halo 2 launch, but bigger.

Well, I don't think there's like some hype thermometer that helps us gauge at what height it is compared to past launches. I think it's pretty successful so far, though. Considering EB is supposedly already on shipment 3 of launch supplies.

I think it depends on what you expect. Will it recreate the PS2 excitement? I dunno, that'd be difficult. At least in America, it has a very good chance of doing that.

i always thought when someone say for example Xbox is 1.5 more powerful than PS2 means the xbox is 0.5 has extra power ps2 doesnt

so when somene say 2x more powerful means that 2 PS2 = 1 xbox
and when someone say 1.5x more powerful means that 1 ps2 + half ps2 = xbox


same thing i was thinking when you say it in percentage too :/

Sales doesn't always mean hype. MS might have zero hype and still sell every single unit, I don't remember any excitement for the DS and that sold fine in the beginning. Not that I care how much either sells, I am not emotionally attached to the name of Sony or MS and plan to wait at least a year before I pick up one of the newer consoles anyways. I just find it interesting that it seems like there isn't the same kind of buzz we had in previous generations. Or it might just be my limited perception of things.

I think the most impressive thing that MS has done was getting the unadulterated support of EA. It's almost like EA is the one launching the hardware considering how many games they have announced for it. I think EA's support was crucial to the ps2 beating out the dreamcast. It doesn't look MS will have as big of hardware advantage as they did last gen so it will be interesting to see how much that factors in things.

assuming PS3 WILL do the Killzone 2 Graphics. what future do you see for X360?

PS3 will have good looking games, Xbox 360 will good looking games and they are both powerful. But that doesn't mean that all games will look like Gears or War or Killzone, there will be plenty of shitty looking titles on both systems. Microsoft sucked at E3 cause of the alpha hardware, wait till July 25 or TGS!

A = B + X%(of B)

In this case you said the PS3 is 100% more pwerful than the Xbox 360, therefore;

PS3 = Xbox 360 + 100%(of Xbox 360)

PS3 = 2 Xbox 360's
