At Last, "The Touch" Music Video From Transformers The Movie Has Been Found

starscream gets owned so hard :(

I love that the movie is set in 2005 btw:

The year is 2005. The heroic Autobots, let by Optimus Prime, are preparing to retake their homeworld of Cybertron from the evil Decepticons. Megatron and the Decepticons have other plans though as they launch a full-scale assault on Autobot city on Earth. The Transformers war will soon seem like a petty squabble however as a new menace to the galaxy in the shape of the planet eating Unicron threatens to destroy all before it; starting with Cybertron itself.

Starscream: "Who disrupts my coronation?"
Galvatron: "`Coronation,' Starscream?? This is bad comedy!"
Starscream: "Megatron? Is that you??"
Galvatron, just before destroying Starscream: "Here's a hint!"

Unicron: "I have summoned you here for a purpose."
Megatron: "Nobody summons Megatron!"
Unicron: "Then it pleases me to be the first."

I think you had to be alive when Transformers the Movie came out to truely appreciate this gem of a music video.

We can all agree this was the pinnacle of animation, but is it also the most quotable movie of all time?

I still get goosebumps from that song. How can you not be pumped when you hear that song?

And did anybody else but me get weepy when they saw Optimus die in the movie? That ruined me for a week when I saw it.

Just watched this a couple weeks ago. It still entertains. Judd Nelson's acting, however, is the worst ever in an animated film.

starscream gets owned so hard :(

Not as bad as most of the original Autobots in the first fifteen-twenty minutes of the movie.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh good stuff.

You know, a lot of Stan Bush's music is actually pretty damn cool in an ultra-cheesy 80s way!

(And his guitar shoots freaking lightning bolts!)

Wow, that was awesome, it really touched me (no pun intended). Memories of the transformers and this song from when I was a child came back. Time to watch the movie again!

You and I both, brother. You and I both.

I saw it on video in '87, and when Prime died my mother told me, after I asked about it, that I had my head down for a few moments and wouldn't come back up.

Hell, it killed me watching Ironhide get freaking incinerated my Megatron (with a headshot, no less), as well as watching Arcee dragging in Windcharger (my first Transformer...) next to Wheeljack (another fav).

Hell, did Unicron scare anyone else shitless back then? Those first few moments of the movie stayed a long time.

Still, a fun as hell movie then and now.

How about that theme "The Escape" from the Transformers Movie? Damn, that was a good track.

The whole soundtrack as well as the BGM by Vince Dicola is pretty good. Y'know, Ivan Drago from Rocky IV's theme sounds like a precurser for Unicron's theme, which Dicola also did.

Someone needs to rename this thread as a Transformers appreciation thread.

boy, that troll came out of nowhere.

I love this movie. I hope the new flick stays true to the spirit of the cartoon if nothing else. Say, has there been any new news regarding said movie?

Song never did much for me. Instruments of Destruction on the other hand, that's the fucking song right there.

As for Prime buying the farm.....eh. What they did to my beloved Megatron pissed me off more. Galvatron sucks.

Not much news beyond this:

1) Megatron's not a gun
2) Get over #1

That's basically it.

My best bud is in love with that song. :lol

Stan Bush also had another great 80's movie tune with "On My Own, Alone" from Bloodsport. The version played during the flick kicks ass, but the one floating around on file-sharing services isn't as good.

Weepy? I straight-out bawled. I'm still scarred for life from it.

Some more quotes - what a great screenplay for what essentially was a kids' cartoon. Puts some of today's movies to shame:

Arcee: Did we have to let 'em detonate three quarters of the ship?
Springer: Seeing as how they would have detonated *four* quarters, I think it was a good choice.

Hot Rod: We can't hold out forever Kup, but we *can* give them one *humongous* repair bill.

Kup: Don't act hostile, I'll use the universal greeting.
Hot Rod: "Universal greeting"?
Kup: Watch, I'll have them eating out of my hands. Bah weep granah weep ninni bong.
Hot Rod: "Bah weep granah weep ninni bong"?
Sharkticons: Bah weep granah weep ninni bong.
Kup: See, the universal greeting works every time.

Galvatron: First Prime, then Ultra-Magnus, and now you. It's a pity you Autobots die so easily, or I might have a sense of satisfaction now.

[the Decepticons try to see who is most fit to take over Decepticon leadership]
Scrapper: Wait! The Constructicons form Devastator! The most powerful robot! We should rule!
Soundwave: Soundwave: superior. Constructicons: inferior.
Scavenger: Who are you calling inferior?
Hook: Nobody would follow an uncharismatic bore like you!
[Soundwave ejects his cassette minions]
Frenzy: Hey! Nobody calls Soundwave unkrozzomatic! :lol

Megatron: Wait, I still function.
Starscream: Wanna bet?

Kup: Reminds me of the Nighteth Slave Mines on Galganeth Seven.
Hot Rod: Every place reminds you of some place else.
Kup: Experience, lad. You should learn to appreciate it.
Hot Rod: Alotta good it's done us so far.

Quintesson: Would you like to beg for your lives? It sometimes helps... but not often.

Quintesson: Guilty or innocent?
Quintesson Judge: Innocent.
Quintesson: Feed them to the Sharkticons.

Perceptor: Ultra Magnus. A cursory evaluation of Decpticon capabilities indicates a distinct tactical deficiency.
Ultra Magnus: In other words Perceptor?
Springer: We're out numbered.

Arcee: I was afraid you'd be trapped outside the city.
Hot Rod: Hey, I wasn't worried for a micro-second.
Arcee: Then you probably didn't understand the situation.

There's a Transformers: The Movie reference in Boogie Nights. When Dirk Diggler starts his singing career he sings "The Touch". :lol

Oh...umm...okay. ;) :D I never saw Boogie Nights in its entirety, only about the last 45 minutes or so. :)

Hell, it still gets me if I watch it nowadays. I'll be good, and then as soon as Prime is like, "Megatron must be stopped... no matter the cost", the smile falls from my face.

Then when he is like "... do not grieve..." it starts to get to me...

And then when he turns grey... god damn. :( :(

Dsal

it's going to come out of you and it's going to taste so good
There was this friend of mine at our high school who was known as "The Kid Who Cried When Optimus Prime Died." Even though it happened in like junior high, it followed him all the way to high school. Most other kids that saw that were feeling pretty sad at that part, but he was truly bawling his eyes out.

So yeah, we have the 10 year reunion a couple years back and someone brings it up again. Poor dude.

The funny thing was during that scene I was getting all sad as Prime was dying, and then he turned gray. At that moment I was thinking, "WTF?!" because that didn't make any sense that a robot would turn gray - what did the paint suddenly stop working? My confusion was great enough to emotionally distract me, and I avoided years of ribbing unlike poor Matt.

Not only did I tear up when Prime died, I got misty again when the series after the movie kept bringing him back in susbstandard eps every time they needed a boost. It was like a used car lot stringing your father's body up out front to try and get some foot traffic.

I think what really grabs you in that scene is the look on Prime's face as he says that. The way he says it he sounds so tired and the look of his face really reflects that, and when his eyes close a bit in that part it really drives that point home.

Know how are parents speak of where they were when they heard Kennedy was killed? I speak in the same terms when it comes to the death of Optimus, I kid you not.

Oh yeah remember when.. hmm mwho brought him back.. the Quintessons? and Rodimus gave up the Matrix and went back to being Hot Rod and Optimus actually had trouble taking the Matrix from Hot Rod and had trouble putting it back in his chest?

IIRC he eventually shrugged off their programming and flew a spacecraf/shuttle in to a nearby star? I think he was melting as he flew in and once again I think he said... "til all.... are... one..."

...and I think we got a voiceover from the narrator saying something like... "but is Optimus Prime TRUELY dead?"

(sniff) dammit I can't be gettin misty about this now... I'm friggin 34 years old!!!!

EDIT:

Ah yup I apparently have a decent memory of it:

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Station/6563/optimus.html

BTW Beast Wars was cool... especially all the crossover eps... who didn't marvel at how HUGE the "modern" day transformers were compared to the Beast Wars era ones?

Oh and Beast Machines? A stinking dung heap of rotten f'n garbage... with a semi-decent final ep.

The scariest part of that episode was how pieces of Prime's face were being blown off with each bridge explosion as he got closer to the star.

The voiceover, wasn't that from certain video's of Transformers the Movie?
