Attempted Working Designs localizations?

Hmm, I've just downloaded the Ys 4 translation that I'm playing on my Duo... I have a legal Japanese copy of Ys 4 I bought off ebay, but I ripped the CD to my HD, patched it, and burned an English translation. I highly doubt a game like that is gonna get translated for US release any time soon :lol - I'm all for ROM translations, always have been since demi announced the FF2j one some 7 or 8 years ago.
 
You bought, ripped, patched. Different than download, patch, play. Still questionable, strictly speaking, but not the same.

There was a fan translation for La Pucelle in progress before the game was announced for US release, at which point the project was dropped. I believe translations for Winning Eleven games have been common, too.

Well, on the piracy issue I guess its kinda okay if you do it in Europe. I mean, Europe never gets anything anyway.

Hey Vic, any plans on doing Poporocrois PSP? It fits the WD bill perfectly. Old classics that no one ever brought out in the US, tons of anime FMV and voice acting, 2D graphics, strategic battle engine, longass (2 games in one and more!), touched up for the PSP, etc. Unless of course you played it and thought it sucks. :D

V&B was really cool. After you finish it, there's an online mode where you can fight with the squads you've built online against others. Bureaucracy killed the localization. We don't have an existing relationship with Namco and the first title with a new company is always the hardest. Maybe in the future, but just not yet. There's some Tales games I'm still surprised were/will be left in Japan.

Popolocrois is nice, but theres a fair amount of localization there to do it right. Color me interested, since I'm a fan of the series, but it won't break my heart if someone else picks it up. It does need to come here one way or the other.

As is Policenauts. All Konami had to do was do a solid translation job post-MGS over here with the phrase "From the maker of Metal Gear Solid comes..." and guarentee a quarter million sales.

V&B...still trying to figure out how something I was so hot 'n bothered about for a good long while disappeared whereas gems like Disgaea, Growlanser (great job here), and SMT:N come out of left field and floor me. The JRPG field is still a fickle one.
 
Vic: You know what I'd like to see? An updated Vasteel. I loved those old games like that... that and the SD Gundam Gachapon turn-based strategy games.
