A revelation that will surprise no one, A Current Affair hit a new low tonight. They ran with the Vegas was ISIS terrorism angle without any new evidence or anything tangible whatsoever. It was just rehashed information made to look like news.

In other revelations that will surprise nobody I had yet more "NO" leaflets dropped under my door today. Apparently all gender will be destroyed, all families broken apart and all free speech suppressed if gay marriage is passed.

It was pretty bad.

That said at least then the event would make sense. At least so far there seems no obvious motivations. Though hopefully the girlfriend can clear that up given the amount of planning and prep that must have taken place.

4 x $500 > $1400 for Pixel 2.

I'm also considering one of the new Nokia phones when it comes time. They seem to be doing good work for folks after non flagship phones.

I get a free phone from work every two years with 20GB data every month so the price doesn't bother me...but does the Pixel 2 have an SD card slot?

Clean Android version too. I can't stress enough how important this is when considering an Android phone (to me anyway).

Skins are the worst part of the Android experience. They also cause unnecessary delays to updates too.

Make sure you check their update cycle and see how long it takes for LG to update the OS and how long support last for.

I think they have got better recently, but lots of manufacturers are abandoning their phones after 12-18 months.

I like to keep my phones for two years at least, so this is an important consideration for me.

Well, the main thing holding me back right at this moment is that I've only had this 6p for a year.

I really like it! It's just... I can't expand the blasted memory and the battery is shithouse. That's literally it, but it's causing me a world of irritation.

I'd say two years. Unless you are one of those weird Apple obsessives who like to spend thousands just to have a new number (or an S) and less features.

Most of mine have been replaced within 18-24 months. Some of them have been getting a bit run down, newer OS updates often lead to this, but some have been ok and could have kept going, but I can get a new phone so I do.

For the first time I might be doing a swap after 12 months. Optus have plans now that offer a 12 month change over for $99, and if the Huawei Mate 10 ends up being as good as it sounds I'll trade-up from the Mate 9.

Two years sounds about right, I think. Three is a stretch, especially if you’re a heavy user, because update bloat slows the OS and your battery starts to crap out.

Speaking of batteries crapping out - Samus Returns will be the last 3DS game I buy. I never knew how terrible it could be to have a handheld tethered to one place until I realised my 3DS battery doesn’t hold more than two minutes of charge anymore. I have to hold the system at a particular angle while playing in bed - it’s awful.

The worst part is that because I have an American 3DS, I don’t think I can buy a local one for cheap and transfer my data over either.

Hmm, my iPhone 6 plus is just over 3 years old, and while the battery is fine I've heard bad things about running iOS 11 (released a fortnight ago) on it, so I've just skipped that update. I get it for free (work phone) so maybe it's time to ask for a new one, although I'd feel a bit guilty because honestly it still runs fine.

Don’t forget swimsuits for the fuller figure and neighbours from hell.

I raised a complaint about one of TT’s stories to the media watchdog (forget what it’s called) being race baiting and fear mongering and not being in the public interest. Months later, Channel 7 sent me a very carefully worded letter saying that they thought I was wrong and that this therefore put the matter to bed.

Having by this point forgotten all about the segment and not wanting to get into an Internet forum fight with someone whose job it is to deflect attention away from their employer’s stupid bullshit, I let it slide. I remember being so angry at the time too.
