how much have previous systems cost at launch in Australia, such as N64, PS, PS2, Xbox, GC?The new unit, which was rolled out this week in North America, will cost Australian gamers either $499.95 for a "core" system or $649.95 for a unit bundled with additional features such as wireless capabilities, high-definition access and backward compatibility to current Xbox games.

Infact im going to stick with my orginial plan and get a Xbox 1 when the 360 comes out, they'll be sh!t cheap and as I dont have one...
Scrow said:damn.... PS2 launched at $700?
anyway, this does not bode well for PS3 launch price. i don't think I could ever bring myself to pay over $500 for any console. guess I'll play the waiting game.

Xbox - $650, dropped to $450 within a month
Gamecube - $399, dropped to $329 before launch.
Gamecube was announced 429, then dropped to 399 a few days before Microsoft announced their drop under 500. Then they waited a few weeks and sensibly announced the 299 but the damage had been done.
Nintendo has committed 50,000 units of NINTENDO GAMECUBE to Australia for the launch month with an estimated 200,000 for 2002.
