I know Shy Guy is from Melbourne as I met up with him last year while I was on holiday there visiting my cousins. He should post in this topic.
There ya go, I'm here adding my name to the HUGE-ASS list of Aussies we've got listed!

I'm an Aussie, born and bred in Melbourne, Victoria, and can't agree more on how Melbourne is the greatest city in the WORLD, let alone Australia.

I'm from the Western Suburbs, but currently I'm living in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Canada's awesome, it really is, Vancouver is such a beautiful city. Hot girls too.

But I wouldn't trade anything for Australia, we rock. It's official. While I'm enjoying my time up here in Canada, I really miss Australia and the little things like a good Meat Pie and the Aussie Rules Football (btw DAMN YOU Port).

Anyway, thanks Red Dolphin for giving me an excuse to post here rather than simply lurking :)

S'up bitches!

Australia, Victoria, Melbourne, Avondale Heights, Windsor Drive... I think I've said too much :D

Anyway, did anyone actually GO to the melbourne show? Bloody expensive... and that's before you set foot into the show grounds! argh!

You can see me playing bball on sunday 6.30pm at burwood reserve... team name is "frozen throne" ;) I'll show you some of my AND1 skillz, biatch!

Sydenham eh....towards Melton or towards Watergardens?
Rose Hedge, the "better" part of Sydenham hehe :p How about you?

As a fanatical Blues supporter, I must protest at Port's ambushing of Brisbanes destiny to rid Collingwood of that "Holy Grail" of a record.

To ease my worries, I cannot see Port repeating next year. 2005 will be the year of the Victorians! Carlton, St. Kilda, Geelong, and Melbourne (yes Melbourne, they'll get the "odd" year hoodoo off their backs) will be top 4! :p

Everywhere in Brisbane is like 20 minutes from CBD. We were gonna go to Dicey's at 3pm and drink jugs of Stella, but the rain kinda ruined the mood a bit. Or did it?

Opposite Watergardens so I'm not really a bumpkin :p
Just living in the sprawls of lower-middle class surburbia.

I don't mind Port, it's just that Eddie probably had the biggest hard-on when the siren went.

State: NSW
City: Sydney - I usually hover within 10 minutes' drive of the CBD.

Excellent weather we're having - 31 degrees one day, freezing cold with blustery rain the next.

Nice, so Taylor's Lakes it is? Or do you mean where the school's are near the train station?

Eddie can claim that damn record for all he wants, but fact of the matter is Brisbane of 2001-2003 are far superior to that old 1920's fourpeat Magpie team.

As for movies, well now that I'm currently here in Canada, it's just awesome to have all the latest movies. I take a look at the Aussie release dates and it's pretty embarassing sometimes.

Same goes for TV shows too.

But whatever, they both pale in comparison to actually living in Melbourne! :)

Behind Bunnings etc, so I guess you'd call it Taylors Lakes. Prices for anything suck in Australia, but Melbourne + consistent weather = No 1.

Guys, I just found out that Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez creator) will be talking at a conference called GameTime (www.gametime.com.au) in Melbourne on October 15.

I thought I'd give the rest of you a heads up, as this opportunity for us doesn't come around very often!

Also for thoses in Sydney, Nobuo Uematsu and Joe Hisaishi will be in concert on the 30th & 31st of October at the Verbrugghen Hall. I'd strongly suggest if you're in NSW or close to Sydney on seeing them, ticket prices seems reasonable enough (like that should even matter) but be quick, it seems both shows are selling out fast!

Why wouldn'tyou call it Taylor's Lakes!?!? heheh, it's definitely not Sydenham as you're still before the railway line! BTW Do you get ADSL there?

Is there anything "new" around Watergardens yet? How's the new shops they're building near the train station? I've been gone so long I don't know if there's been any progress on all that stuff.

speedpop

Has problems recognising girls
Yikes I would've killed to have witnessed A Night in Fantasia. Joe Hisaishi music = best.

Guess I'll just have to fly down for Final Fantasia if it is planned for only Sydney next year :(

I wouldn't mind if I lived in 'Sydenham' better than Baccus Marsh :p. To tell you the truth I don't know what the proper name of this location. I've heard of Taylors Hill/Watergardens/Henley Estate name etc. So any guess what it should be called.

ADSL is available as well, so no worries there.

Nothing really 'interesting' has been built.
Depending on how long you've been away basically this happened:
- Kmart Garden Supercentre + Spotlight etc built on the right hand side of the station.
- Furniture shops + Party Shop etc built near the Fire Station (that area has also become a mini-rounabout)

Pretty boring stuff really.

Officially, you live in Taylor's Lakes.

Taylor's Hill is near the Sydenham McDonald's off Calder Park Drive. Henley Estate isn't an estate, it's the place where the "World of Homes" display homes used to be since they've now been sold. And Watergardens isn't a suburb either.

I've been gone since May 2004, so the only thing in your list that's "new" is the Party Shop as that wasn't complete yet when I left, it was still under constructing next to Harvey Norman.

I'm waiting for those new shops and stuff near the Train Station, and apparently they're going to put a Myer there too...we'll see.

Tell that to people who think that since the station is called 'Watergardens' the surrounding area should also be called 'Watergardens' :(

Most of shops near Bunnings are for the most part are empty- I dunno why you'd own a shop there imo it would be a bad decision to start anything right now.

I remember when Watergardens was touted as going to be as bigger than High-Point.
I'm happy with Water G's. It's better than Keilor Plaza and Taylors Lakes Shopping Center. Just somewhere to buy the groceries and watch a movie when you feel like it. To be honest I don't want to live near another High-Point or Chadstone, I'm just imagining all the traffic at Christmas.

My uncle lives in taylor's lakes...

the thing that surprised me when driving down the calder to get there is that every second backyard has a tennis court... wtf is up with that??! I want one!

I hate shopping at Highpoint nowadayz, it's so shit house now... if i need clothing, i usually go all the way down to chaddy or something. Movies, maybe... it used to be good when video games heaven was there, now it's some other shoddy franchise, so i end up buyin my shit from EB.

Just a question, is the election THIS saturday?!

Great point on the traffic thing!

BTW Watergardens wasn't really supposed to be bigger than Highpoint, though it *IS STILL* being touted as "the largest shopping centre of its kind in Australia". What they mean is that once the promenade shopping district (near the train station) is complete, along with the to-be-built "moat" around Watergardens, and Myer, it will be the biggest shopping centre that has an outdoor shopping district as well as an indoor "mall" district, and a lake running thru it, along with factory outlets and stuff.

That's what they meant!

Er, the owners of that Video Games Heaven are the same ones that run the videogames store that IS there! LOL

It's the same shit!

EB's better anyway, in a lot of cases.

What's the difference between Chadstone and Highpoint? I regularly (well when I'm in Melbourne) go to both and there's just no difference, they both have bowling centres, megaplex cinemas, clothes stores, etc...hehe

Yep election is October 9th.

Anyway I miss Latham when he was an angry nobody. It was interesting to see how he shook George W's hand it looked like he was stopping himself from knocking George out.
Anyway here's hoping Labour wins so that we stop being America's boy toy.

I fortunately don't have a tennis court, they must of gotten the land when it was still relatively cheap.

That Watergardens Plan sounds too ostentatious, seriously with the economy and water restrictions I hope I never see such a beast. Sounds like something from the Simpsons. Bloody Queenslanders. Factory Outlets I wouldn't mind- as long as they were decent companies.

Anyway I find myself going to shop more and more in the city as ironic as this may sound I find Shopping Centres clasutrophobic.

heheh, yeah, i know it's the same owner (that bald headed old dude that looks like mario). But it's just not the same anymore... imo, it was better being that dark lil corner store called video games heaven.

and I just find it better shopping at chaddy for clothing for some reason, i can't seem to pinpoint it... highpoint seems so, not to be racist or anything, but... it seems like there are a lot of "mario's" there who think they're top shit.... if u catch my drift.... chaddy seems to b a tad more sophisticated. ;)

*wen i say "mario's", i don't mean supermario. think commodores and tracky dacks.

Oh, and yeah, GO LABOUR! even thought I don't think latham would do any better at running this country, it would be nice to have someone other than an "ass-licker".

i was planning to go to that, but in the end, i decided i'll use my money for Animania instead. lack of interest among others to attend that concert mainly, as well as my need to save up.

anyone else planning on going to Animania?

oh, and go Labor... although i didn't bother to enrol for the election - i hope they don't fine me for that :p

Oh, I fully knew what you meant by the term "Mario's" hehe, they're definitely always around but usually just on Friday and Saturday nights because they have nothing better to do than hang around the Playtime at Highpoint.

Chadstone is indeed a bit more classy, but that's only because they've built the brand into "The Fashion Capital" while the Highpoint people sat on their asses doing nothing to give the shopping centre some sort of image. "L1" was a little late imo, the Mario's had already come in by then! And look how long that "Niteclub" lasted!

And the city rocks, I used to shop there all the time when I was at RMIT, but now (again, when I'm in Melbourne) I find I don't need to go all the way to the city just do some shopping.

As for the election, I agree GO LABOR! Latham is clearly the lesser of the two evils, and I hope people vote for him just to see some change!

Funnily enough, since I'm here in Vancouver at the moment, I don't even need to vote! But I might trek all the way to the Aussie Consulate just to put my 2 cents in! :p
