Lmao. 14 years with these garbage EJ motors. Can't/won't even release a new motor for the STI. They honestly don't give a fuck.
I'm surprised that they haven't tried to wring even a little bit more power out of it this gen. I'm guessing it's a reliability or fuel economy issue or both.
Fuck oil changes ! Go to oil changers. It's almost the same money as buying the oil and filter and the do it in 15 minutes.
But you should YouTube uh.. .. try changing a starter and see if that looks comfortable to you. If so, you can save a lot of money with that level of work.
I prefer to have my car in the hands of minimally paid techs as little as possible, so I do my own oil changes. Not to mention I enjoy doing it as it's the perfect time to inspect my car while I have it up. Also when you factor in synthetic oil, you can do it cheaper yourself.
Picked up my Jag from the dealer finally. It was a broken vent clip that kept making noise on the passenger side. It's such an uncommon part that it took a while to receive it. The car is much quieter now apart from some normal creaks here and there, which I'm going to handle myself. I'm going to lightly spray a silicone lubricant anywhere where two plastic parts meet and rub.
They also updated my software and the infotainment system runs even faster than before. But what I thought was really cool was they swapped out my rearview camera for an all new one. My original one was having some screen tearing issues and stutters. Turns out this is a known issue on early model XFs like mine, and the entire processor is mounted to the camera itself, which makes it a simple swap not requiring any coding. But what's so cool is that this new comes with on-screen parking graphics (which is standard on 2017s now). So I got a 2017 camera retrofitted into my 2016. Nice little surprise there.
In any case, Jaguar Corp has been extremely supportive of the case. If I really want to get a new XF, they will give it to me. Going through a lemon law would be a bad look, as it will kill the value of this car once it heads to auction for the bank. Or often times they give out a few months of reimbursements. So that may be another option on the table.
So right now, major thumbs up for Jaguar USA.
It's good to hear Jaguar is taking care of you. Is this typical of luxury car manufacturers? At least that's what I imagine part of what you get from paying for a luxury vehicle.
