How's the depreciation been on the F-Types? Like old Jaguar or better?
They're holding up extremely well from what I see. Even the V6s, which is crazy.

I've been getting almost 39mpg on my tuned M235i. The gearbox is fantastic, smooth, fast and reliable. I disagree with David, more gears means the engine is always making the power better. Reason why I'm waiting for the 10 speed is because it's much faster and more responsive than the 8 speed. I don't care about better gas mileage in a V8 Camaro. In my BMW the 8 gears don't bother me at all, power is more accessible and acceleration is much better compared to the manual. I don't care about 0 to 60 times but the 8 speed zf and manual in the M235i makes a night and day difference in acceleration feel. Not to mention the loss of boost that drops in between the gear changes in the manual M235i makes the engine lazier. The last two gears are only used when cruising on the highway so I don't see a problem at all. I don't like manuals because traffic is crazy in Albania and I don't find it enjoyable in those circumstances. When I have the money to buy a second, weekend only car, then I'll gladly buy a manual. It's great for gas mileage, mainly. My dad's gotten 40mpg's on long highway trips with his 328i and the 8 speed ZF.

I still have no idea what car I want to buy to replace my current daily.
I want 4 doors, 30MPG, RWD, and a stick.
Not much is coming to mind.
Tbh I don't notice the car shifting when in auto but 90% of the time I drive in manual mode and I never use more than the first 4 gears. Bmw's transmission map isn't the best, Jaguars have the same transmission and shift gears better. It's not the number of gears, it's the transmission software at fault.^^^ You mean a BMW 3 series?
I found the constant shifting to be unpleasant on the road while driving fast, and while it may put down the power better it didn't really feel necessary--the car had plenty of torque. I honestly felt the ratios were too close and the shifting experience was unpleasant. After about 10 minutes of constant 2-3-4-3-2 shifting I said fuck it and kept it in 3rd.
It's definitely the better transmission for instant passing torque and highway driving, but in the curves it was the worst thing about the car.

So my dad has several cars and he's looking to downsize. In America, Los Angeles specfiically has anyone heard of trading in two cars to a dealer toward the value of one new car?
There's still some dumb shit with automatics... like a 10-speed Camaro? Bruh, that ain't a real Camaro anymore. Either it comes with a 6-speed manual, or a 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic auto.
Infiniti QX50 looks beautiful. And it also debuts a new interior for future products which is also beautiful!

Gone are the double screens like in the Q50 and Q60.
Bought a new recaro seatfor my kid.
Also, I'm a new daddy with a girl!
I can stretch the E39 M5 to 23ish combined...I still have no idea what car I want to buy to replace my current daily.

Holy fuck that two tone interior is amazing.Don't you and I wish! They just integrated it better into the lower dash HVAC controls.
Those screens were the worst part of my RS400 test drive. Otherwise, the interior is very nice and M-B should take notes on how to integrate a MFD in a car.
Thanks! And that's strange....Congrats on the new purchase...and newborn!
For some reason Recaro baby seats are not legal for use in Canada. I tried to get one a while ago for my little one.
Damn, Jaguar came through bigly. Just got a call from them and they gave me the offer of an $1800 check for my troubles (that's 2 monthly payments + an extra inconvenience check). I honestly couldn't even be mad at that.
My car's whisper quiet inside now, the rattles are pretty much all gone. They updated all of my software, and did some extras. And on top of it all, they're giving me damn near $2000 to say "we're sorry". That's what I call an amazing experience. And I can't complain, at all, either...since if I ever do have an issue down the line, they always put me in a like-for-like XF (a white or blue 2017 model) with the same options.
In any case, a little bit of inconvenience got me $1800 and I didn't even have to raise my voice or be a jerk about it.
In his defense, having a Porsche owner as a client sounds high maintenance. I hear those guys are assholes. The Grand Tour told me so.Man, Jaguar's dealer experience sounds like such a dream compared to...well...just about everything else.
I once had a Porsche service manager tell me he guessed he had someone who could work on my car, but really he wasn't interested in helping me or working on older 911s.

ah luxury cars.
I requested the subbie dealer to check the alignment on my BRZ while I was getting the oil changed.
"its fine"
can I get a print out of the values?
"oh we didn't actually put it on the rack, mechanic drove it and it seems straight"
OK then...
I've about had it with japanese car dealers
Oh wow, that is some rather fantastic implementation. It's not just two giant bricks stacked on top of each other. Very nicely done, Infiniti.
It is. I've been through the ranks of them all, and Jaguar is far and away the best in satisfaction. And I also think it's reflected in a JD Power study too.
To add to this, more people will soon be finding out how great their service is, as Jaguar saw a 259% sales increase from December 2015 vs. December 2016. Most of that was the F-Pace, which is astonishing for a car with barely any lease incentive. It shows that people want to be a part of the Jaguar marquee and an SUV is the golden ticket today. Fortunately, it's a great car.

LOL. Tell me that's a joke...
When I drive into my Jaguar service department, they actually have a leveled floor at the entry and little stoppers you drive over. The porters put the car in neutral and guide it to rest on the stopper. They clamp on laser alignment plates and run a diagnostic right there and print it out on the spot. Takes all of 30 seconds. So it's actually done for free.
I too my A4 in for a complimentary wash and they not only didn't actually wash it,* they put some garbage in the passenger footwell. Took an hour and a half and I couldn't even complain because I was so late for an appointment.
* I mean literally, as opposed to "not to my high stanndards"

My XF also had some buzzing in the passenger side speaker (which for you would be driver's side since I'm in the US). They took apart the door card and insulated it. It's fixable. Take the car for a test drive with a tech though.
30 mpg tho?E90 335i 4 door sedan. I'm picking up an E92 335i sometime in the next month as a beater. For $10-15k you can't do better.
The problem is that most people don't care about that stuff. Just look at how many vehicles you see crabbing down the highway.
I once had a guy at an alignment shop do my front toe the opposite of what I wanted (he did 1/16" toe out instead of my requested 1/16" toe in) and then tell me that it was going to be better like that. I had to raise my voice before he went back to fix it.

Upon reflection, I feel like 4 door, RWD and 30mpg are silly requirements. If you care about doors and mpg so much, just get FWD. RWD is generally tied to luxury or enthusiast cars, which means that fuel economy isn't stressed.
That said, the new 3 series will do it in base trim for sure.

Hmm so a modest power boost backed by a 5 year warranty. Sounds good for the most part. Definitely good for those that want to pick up the new Alltrack or the 1.8t with a bit more power for daily driving. I'm thinking I may go vdub again and pick up a face-lifted gti next year or just wait for the new gen to hit.
Yeah I didn't read about the 3rd party warranty until after I posted. Sounded too good to be true lol. Definitely after the suckers with how much it costs and the mild tune. Oh well.A 5 year payment plan for a 3rd party warranty NOT APR, a much milder tune than Stage 1 from the same tuner, no coverage on clutches if you bought a stick (Alltrack wouldnt matter), you get to pay interest since it's financed with your car ...and you will pay for a GTI Plus tune a very modest (lol) $34.99 for 60 months
They are insane or going right after the sucker market who is unaware of piggyback solutions like the JB4/Neuspeed modules which are removable and untraceable... or people who have 2k pocket change and dont care submitting claims to a 3rd party warranty department if anything happens.
I've got JB4 on my M235i, best mod I've bought.Yeah I didn't read about the 3rd party warranty until after I posted. Sounded too good to be true lol. Definitely after the suckers with how much it costs and the mild tune. Oh well.
Haven't met anyone with a JB4 here yet. They still running jb1 but will probably upgrade.
Found a chip on my roof while examining more closely the scratches there, whats the best course of action with these? Im a bit wary of painting the whole roof because you really have to search for it but the inevitable color diference after the paint will be much more noticeable to me. I'm mostly concerned about long term rust
Otherwise Im quite pleased, quick snap I took today
Well thats good to know. But what about the small chips in the red circle (kinda hard to see, I mabe should take a better pic or crop), should I use some kind of anti rust pen there? Im going to the dealership in the coming weeks anyways to get a new gear knob fitted so I can always ask their opinion as well, but it would be great to know what is the usual practiceThose are light scratches that an orbital polisher can cut right out of the clearcoat.

I've done around 2000 miles with it so far (or more) and I've never had any issues. I have it on map 2 which makes more power but requires at least a modified downpipe which I have (catless titanium) and premium fuel (98 octane in europe). Haven't dynod the car but I should be making around 400hp at the crank judging from other people that have dynod the car with the same mods. I've raced an Evo X with 430hp and was faster from a rolling drag race and was faster than an F80 M3 in the quarter mile although that could have been the driver's fault for not launching the car properly (maybe). I don't know how it's on the B58 engine but I wouldn't consider it without at least an aftermarket downpipe. Map 2 makes all the difference, without the downpipe I couldn't feel much of a change. How much power/torque are you running? Do you recall how many miles it's been running a JB4 too? I'm quite interested as it supposedly works well with the B58 block too

Crazy story/question time:
My dad is friends with a mechanic who is selling his decades old shop. The mechanic has a 327 small block Chevy in the back - the motor mostly lived in his 54 Corvette, but has had a pretty wild life (ran in the 12 Hours of Sebring, tossed in a Camaro, etc), but it's been in pieces for 30 years. Some of the parts are pretty interesting - saw a trick looking Edelbrock carb, a flat tappet Comp cam, and double hump Chevy heads. My problem is I know enough to know what I'm looking at is potentially really cool, but not enough to know if it's worth anything or in decent shape, so I'm skeptical. The mechanic friend is going to call my dad with an offer before tomorrow, but I'm wondering if anyone knows about old small block Chevy shit and has any idea what a reasonable ballpark on this stuff would be based on my bad description.
I'm not that up on Chevy stuff in particular, but it is desirable to some extent. I'd assume if someone were going to use it, they'd want to take the block and heads to a machine shop and have them gone through. I'm guessing everything would be in decent shape though if it's been kept inside in the dry. I'm guessing a pair of double hump heads that have been sitting around might be worth ~$200-$300 depending on condition. If you get the chance look for some codes and Google them. Usually you can find a list of codes compiled on a single website which is very helpful. I know on the 60s/70s GM heads they will have a date code formatted:
A 15 6
The begging letter is the month, A=Jan. B=Feb. etc.
The next two numbers are the day of the month (1-31)
And the last number is the year, in the case of double hump heads a 6 would be 1966, since everything was low compression by 1976.
Not sure if the blocks use the same format or not. Are all the parts to the engine there? What is the intake? Single 4 barrel? Cast iron or aluminum?
