I knew Disney had copied anime before with The Lion King being a clone of Kimba the White Lion but I had no idea they had copied it even earlier with The Little Mermaid!

Well the composition is nice and central and it takes up a lot of the frame. Could have been so easy to end up with a small drawing with 90% white space. You think so? I'm happy with it too, but it's hard to know really since there's so many possibilities. I guess in the end if I'm happy with it that's all that matters, but I would have liked one with the new characters maybe, but getting two of the fan favorites in a cute pose is a good result! I do like Sucy but you can't have em all, maybe next time eh?
Did you back the KS yourself if you don't mind me asking?

Don't worry, I think it's garbage. While there were some good attempts at story and themes, even if they didn't fall flat by themselves, how could I possibly take any of that serious in such a fanservice laden show. People always reply that the character designer or so was a H artist which is great and all, just doesn't make the issue any better.
This is one of the shows' whose appreciation here on GAF genuinely puzzles me.
I think both look fine. The Blu-ray banner at the top is unfortunate, I get why they put it on the slipcover, but at the same time it defeats the purpose of the slipcover for me, which is to make the set look clean and pretty!Madoka's BD cover is so vastly superior to the DVD one it is almost unfair.

No, I've not backed a single Kickstarter.
Fan-service is the pill you have to swallow sometimes to get an anime made. I bet there are a ton of really good shows out there that never would've gotten made if they didn't include scenes to uncensor in blu-rays, sell figures or pillows or move doujin. I realize the landscape of anime has bred a situation where these good anime have fan service shoved into them or have fan service in general that is very off putting so I've become relatively tolerant of it even if it's distasteful, problematic or irritating. That's just the way things are now and sometimes you have to get past that veneer if you want to watch a good show.
For instance, I bet a lot of people disliked Blade and Soul's incredibly INCREDIBLY terrible fan-service and pandering and jiggle-tits and everything. And they'd be right to. But I also think it was one of the top five anime of that year. And if anything it just makes me sad that all the bikini costumes and tits led to people not enjoying what was a mature, dark and fairly trope-less storyline of character growth and development.
Seriously, I'll fight you if you think that show was bad (outside of the fan-service and...awful CG).

The Blade and Soul anime.
I'm halfway through full metal panic. It's good, very much played straight which is a very nice change of pace.
Well, not fan-service then. Sexuality and objectifying and pandering I guess?
I mean, I'd like to think people know what I'm talking about without a semantic argument from the intent of my sentence.
Surprising step down from last season. Don't really have a backlog either, so guess I won't be watching too much this season.
How's Plastic Memories? Might give that a shot.

LWA2!
Geez. I am increasingly coming to realise that my luck kinda sucks with these random item rewards things...
I dunno, I think it's important to make a difference between shows with added fanservice elements (which can be everything not just erotic content), which can be pointless or even hurt the quality of the show and shows which are just lewd.
Just came in today

I know that feeling. Knowing my luck, it's got to be a still of a door or something.
Queens Blade Rebellion ep. 1-3
Who here gave me these recs. My goodness. Speaking of fanservice. Trash, trash, trash and more trash. Tentacles, tentacles everywhere.... I'm not sure if we even have a plot yet, but my lord, everyone is naked with strobbing beams of light all over the screen, uggh.
*snip*
lmao, why are you watching Queen's Blade if you didn't want trashy fanservice? You should watch Qwaser of Stigmata next.
I'd buy a trench coat kaiki figureWhile I really like the Monogatari series, I can't deny that fanservice helps it sell. Otherwise, we'd have at least one based Kaiki figure rather than infinite variations on black Hanekawa.
I'd buy a trench coat kaiki figure
Sentaifilmworks.comSentai Filmworks Licenses "Chivalry of a Failed Knight"
HOUSTON, SEPTEMBER 29, 2015 Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce its latest acquisition, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, as part of the Fall 2015 anime season lineup. This action fantasy series is adapted from the light novels of original creator Riku Misora and tells the tale of Ikki Kurogane, a failing student at a prestigious school for Magic Knights. Ikkis status as the worst one comes from the fact that he has no magical skills, but that doesnt stop the number one student in the school, Stella, from challenging him to a duel where the loser becomes the others obedient servant for life!
Shin Oonuma (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, WATAMOTE) and Jin Tamamura (Invaders of the Rokujyōma!?) are serving as director and series director, respectively, and the studios SILVER LINK (WATAMOTE, Kokoro Connect, Yurikuma Arashi) and Nexus (Wakaba*Girl) will be providing animation production. Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars!) is in charge of the series scripts, with Sei Komatsubara designing the characters. Jin Aketagawa of Magic Capsule is the sound director.
Chivalry of a Failed Knight is scheduled for an October 2015 broadcast in Japan and will be available domestically through select digital outlets with a home video release to follow.

YesBy the way, is there any site that'd allow me to check if (and when) figures for particular characters or series are to be released?
Started watching Hidamari Sketch, quickly realized it wasn't my kind of show, switched over to Himuoto! Umaru-chan instead.
