I was expecting less, but they managed to keep the surrealism and the character development in focus. Unfortunately, some of the biggest damage from 10 & 11 couldn't be undone by this episode. Overall, it was a satisfying ending.

Amazon prime video came to canada recently so I went to check what anime they had. Small selection, but it has stuff I'm interested in watching. For example, Lyrical Nanoha, A's and StrikerS are all on Amazon and I wanna give them a shot and watch them.

Problem: The subs aren't complete. 2 episodes in season 1 are missing subs; all but 2 episodes of A's have missing subs; and all but 1 episode of StrikerS have missing subs.

I wanna know if this is just Amazon being incompetent or if its just something weird with the Canadian distribution. Can anyone with Prime that is not in Canada check for me?

Edit: Just checked out US and UK sites. US doesn't have Nanoha period apparently, and the UK has all the subs. I really wonder why canada doesn't :S

Weird. I was going to say, I watched all of StrikerS on UK Amazon a week or so back. The subtitle timing is pretty consistently atrocious, unfortunately (most episodes are off by a half second, and even when they don't immediately look that way, often are by the end of the episode). Video quality is pretty iffy too, and doubly so in a world where a pretty decent BD upscale exists.
 
So I decided to give the Scum's Wish manga a shot since its being adapted next season (its been on my "to read" list for a while now) and its surprisingly unique and good. I really really don't expect Lerche to do a good job adapting this, but I'm really impressed with the manga so far (i'm pretty sure I'm past where the adaptation will end at this point). From the premise I expected something like Toradora or Nisekoi or something, but it really isn't. Its much more about self-destructive relationships and people just not being good people really. Its a much more mature take on this idea (I mean mature in how its shown, not in what the characters do. They have huge issues and pitfalls that show that they are teens and don't "get it" when it comes to relationships) and something so "not anime" that I'm really surprised that it was even greenlit for an adaptation.

Again, I don't expect the adaptation to be any good, but it has my attention, at least.

Hatin on those slick armors smh. You watched all 97 episodes of Omega (My congratulations and commiserations, I thought I was the only one) It's time to watch something actually decent from the franchise !

As far as I can tell (16 chapters in) they aren't related. Seems like an affectionate naming thing. (They have different last names, nothing in the flashbacks suggests they are related, stuff like that.)

That said, the story gets interesting when you see stuff from the other side of things.
The female teacher basically loves to steal people's loves from other women and the male teacher only loves the female teacher because she reminds him of his dead mother.

Its really a well constructed love-dodecahedron. Also everyone is either in a poisonous relationship or is basically inching towards a poisonous relationship and I really like how the manga actually really treats those kinds of relationships as poisonous.

Yeah. Yozakura is one of those odd titles like Hyouka that fell through the cracks. No idea why.

Oddly enough, Funimation stopped streaming Birdy on their site, but their offical Youtube still has them uploaded XD both seasons!

This was an actually decent episode, the comedy gets more Igarashisms, there were short bits of some really nice action and a making of the villain that has a shot at being more entertaining than the previous two.

The problem is, I'm not paying a lot attention and this show threw so much laughable jargon my in first eps that I'm still not sure quite what is going on:

There are aliens, that want to get to Earth
But they are already on Earth and in control of the main defense agency.
Though people of this agency are unaware of this.
Yet they repair their weird pods with no questions asked.

Yeah, I don't blame you. Actually the chapter are pretty meaty which is nice, and theres quite an interesting shake up to things that just happened where I'm reading.

I can see how Lerche can fuck this up though, which makes me worried.
 
Because I'm bored at work (nothing to do at end of year! not my fault!) I started counting votes from the aoty thread to know more or less how it's going to be, supposing the three pages will be representative of the rest. All done in a very incomplete way, I didn't count every vote, just the top 3 and only from the popular series. Spoilers, I suppose, lol:

The winner is going to be Mob Psycho 100. It's a good series, and more importantly it has wide target. With that I mean the fact it's a series like by almost all types of anime fans, from old school to new school, from the ones that want entertainment and fanservice to the ones that want something else. It's by far the one most voted by people, in number of votes.

The second is going to be JoJo. Good work Jojo fans! It seems the audience built slowly over the years with the previous seasons, and now they have a sizable presence of gaf.

Third position, for now, for Rakugo. Few votes, but people who voted it, voted for first or second position. But I suspect it will lost a pair of positions, right now the more veteran anime fans have voted, as more casual gaffers votes in the thread over the next month, it will lose that position.

Fourth position for Re:Zero.

Fifth for Thunderbolt Fantasy. And comparatively few votes for this series, there are a good number of people who haven't seen it, I suppose because *puppets*.

Sixth for Haikyuu, seventh for Erased.

Speaking of Saint Seiya, I must have had the original in my CR queue sitting there since forever. Always felt it was missing to my anime culture, but I never took the time to really check it out.

I enjoyed the manga immensely, but I sort of felt a bit let down by the adaptation of the first season, given that it was by Bones and all.

The pacing could have been better and the only episode that sort of left an impression (as in, hell yeah this is a great ep!) on me (outside of All Might's season-end battle), was the mock battle between Ochako/Deku vs Bakugou/Iida.

Here's hoping that they polish up the second season a lot more, especially since the Sports Festival arc was a pretty important part along with the the appearance of S2's villian

It was a pretty good final episode, but probably not good enough to drastically change anyones opinion on the show.
I have the feeling that I will enjoy it more when I rewatch it, now that I know where the show is going.

7/10 for me (mostly carried by the stronger first half of the show)

lol When I saw her in the 3rd OP, this wasn't quite what expected. Nor is this whole "Kira gets a new family" conundrum.


Someone explain how Kira went from not even being sure whether Aya was a Stand user, to knowing the very specifics of her ability within one episode and in 4 minutes of in episode time, that he mostly spent getting his teeth kicked in. Phrases like; "Bizarre", ":Araki", "It's Jojo", "It's funny" are all verboten.

We see a Kira cameo in the Cinderella episode where we see him from the back noticing the shop. He and his father should hold tabs on these sort of places that stands are used in. When something outrageous like Cinderalla is advertised publicly like that someone like Kira got curious and investigated. Don't remember all the details of the episode you're watching but that's how he got where he got.

Except it's established that at that point Kira doesn't even know the term stand nor does he have a clue thereare other people out there with abilities like his. So he couldn't be keeping tabs on something he doesn't even know exists.

I'm not trying to compare those closely and could've used Ping Pong as another example. It just looks like the larger NeoGAF opinion concerning anime quickly drifts further towards the mainstream one, which I guess is 100% to be expected when the site grows larger and/or people take more interests in these off-topic aspects.

It's a dodgy place that advertises changing your look, which is enough to draw Kira in and just make a bet on a hunch. Maybe he brought someone along and said:"make me look like this guy" and then he would dispose of that body if he wasn't pressed for time. He didn't know how Aya did the thing but it worked out somehow. See people have thought about this before you and you're not the most bitchy someone has been on the series. We can fall back on at least a decade of discussions on weird details of the series.

it's a life or death situation for him and not much time to consider.That he had prior knowledge of that place is what we have. The situation turning out in his favor can be considered lucky or pure chance.

I think Rakugo as a period drama with the theme of an unknown artform made by Deen is even more niche than Ping Pong or Hyouka, so it makes sense it will have less votes. For example, Ping Pong is at face value about a sport tournament like other sport animes which makes it more approachable to the average anime watcher, and for more veterans fans they know it's from a well known director (Kaiba, Tatami Galaxy, Kemonozume, Mind Game, etc). Both are quirky/niche, but there are degrees of nicheness, I suppose.

Yes but it is also fighting for spot 3-4 whereas the others were taking place number one, so I took that into consideration in that regard.

I think most people were joking when they wanted Thunderbolt Fantasy included . I personally was only planing to give it an special honourable mention first but later edited my list to add it when i saw the disclaimer in the op ( at that point how could i not add it, lol). Was actually really surprised that Cornbread allowed it for real.
