How Rider's master died was the most random thing to happen in this show so far. Saber just fucking appears out of nowhere and decapitates her, like what? I couldn't help but laugh at that shit. But whatever Rider gets to continue on existing and having adventures with his new master.

To be fair, random as that moment was, it does make sense when considering Mordred's background. She always strode to follow in Artoria's footsteps, even before she knew the truth of her parentage. It makes sense that despite her betrayal of Artoria (which can be argued was justified) she has strong moral fiber and would look down on someone cruely manipulating another for their own pleasure (much like she feels her own family did to her).
I'm not sure if it's the most random thing in the show, but it was pretty out of nowhere. Not that I really felt bad about it; her only real character trait was "sadistic jerk", so I was glad to see her out of the picture and away from Astolfo.
Honestly, I think the most random thing in this show was "Spartucus' noble phantasm is that he turns into a giant Akira-esque blob". Like, just why?

Well, clearly they are not skimping on the production values for this first episodes but that isn't hiding the fact that this is Naruto combined with Blue Exorcist and Asta has the most grating voice this side of Deku. 30 seconds in and I hate him with the fiery passion of a thousand suns and will revel every time he gets the shit kicked out of him.

Wow this was perfect even better than I expected and even having a new voice actor turned out to be awesome. I love all of Asta's traits and also the very deep friendship between him and Yuno. The last five minutes was chillingly awesome. more, I need more of this anime.

The first episode wasn't bad, disappointed they didn't adapt the whole first chapter though.I also forgot how annoying Asta was at the beginning, the anime might have made him more annoying. But still looking forward to what to come.

The fact that this show made me hate Asta this fast is astounding. Dude literally yelled almost every single line in the most grating voice and his gags are already getting annoying. Also yeah wants to be Wizard King and turns out he has demon powers already. I knew people said it was generic but damn. This wasn't very good and I'm giving it the 3 episode rule to see if it turns around.

At least now Kekkai Sensen won't have any anime original content and will follow the source material. We may even get Chain centered episode that was skipped last season.
"Trail Krieger" from Argevollen is still the dumbest, I think.

New season means new chance to see if I can watch everything in a season (sequels to shows I haven't seen are excluded). Every time I try something prevents me either halfway or just about damn near the end of it that eats of all of my anime watching time. Third time's the charm, I suppose. Well let's get to it:

While I'm caught up to the manga, I don't remember liking the first few arcs all that much. Hopefully this adaption makes it a bit more bearable.

I missed this show way too much. I haven't laughed this properly in a long time. Also that meta-commentary in the beginning gave me a new-found appreciation for a game that came out recently.

Yeeeep. That's pretty much what I remember from the manga. Nothing awful, nothing special, just straight generic. I won't be surprised if it becomes stupidly popular though, it basically hits all the stereotypical, shonen trope notes.

That is really unfortunate. Basically means we won't see another season. I would've liked another season.
Although it ended well enough so I guess I can live with that.
I feel like Black Clover is part Naruto, part Fairy Tail, part Blue Exorcist...
I mean, it's still more enjoyable than all of the ones I've cited, at least for now...

It was fun for me until it started to do Light Novel tie ins and begin referencing those in the main manga. Felt like I was missing out on stuff. I also became frustrated with the pacing, like character growth was being cut just to chain cool event after cool event. I stopped reading when they went to help a bunch of witches, so like a year ago now?

Well, there have been cases of BD's not selling well and yet still got another season.

It's not what matters the most, especially now that physical disc sales are decreasing so heavily. What matters, commercially, to an anime project is what each member of the production committee is looking to get out of their investment, whether it is promotion of the manga or novels, tie-in music sales, merchandising, streaming promotion, or whatever. Strong disc sales certainly help an anime be viewed as profitable, but there are a lot of other factors involved depending on the investors in any given project.
