Take away China and it doesn’t get to $2B.
I remember the IMDb threads back when the first one came out lol. So many people convinced it would bomb, then no way it would reach $500m, $1b, 2$b and so on.As expected, Avatar 2 will pass 2 billion without including China B/O in the next 2 weeks, at most.
Are you counting the gross in Taiwan as part of China as well?As expected, Avatar 2 will pass 2 billion without including China B/O in the next 2 weeks, at most.
Western films standardly release in Taiwan, so I don't see why we should exclude it.Are you counting the gross in Taiwan as part of China as well?

Avatar: The Way of Water‘s running worldwide total now stands at $2.243 billion, making it the third highest movie ever, sending Cameron’s own Titanic (which recently had a re-release) to fourth with $2.242 billion.
I think you quoted the wrong person.Hate to be the bear of bad news, you were wrong no matter how you twist it
It'll pass 2 billion without China in 1 day & China+Tawian (23.8 million, it's dead there) soon after.
After this weekend, we're looking at a final gross of 2.29-2.32 billion.
Still missing $21M. It’ll get there but just. Guess I’ll be off by a fraction of a percent.Hate to be the bear of bad news, you were wrong no matter how you twist it

Hasn't this thing already passed Titanic to become the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time?
Say what you will about Avatar 2's plot, but at least the main characters don't spend their time chasing MacGuffins, like the map to Luke Skywalker, or some gems for a glove. Sure, you've got Scoresby with the amrita, but holy hell do they go to great lengths to show you what entails the collection of that.
People always throw the "thin" plot critique at Avatar, but I think those same people are passing off a lack of, perhaps, plot intricacy, for simplicity...and those aren't the same things at all.
Even intricate plots can be woven on the basis of simplistic themes and stories. This is also generally why you don't see people listing a film they find to be more nuanced and complex than Avatar when critiquing it, because they know damn well any movie they cite as being more complex can be broken down easily, and therefore won't risk the debate.
Not really saying much when you are using TROS, probably the worst movie ever made as a comparison.
i don't want it on disc id be happy to rent it digitally. but need to wait until they take it out cinemas. i'm not going to the cinema now to watch it lol.So I want this on 4K Blu Ray, but I just realized it’s still playing in theaters locally.
4K UltraHD BD doesn't support variable framerateIf it has variable frame rate and lots of documentaries, I'm 100% buying it 4K physical. I'd like to rebuy part 1 as well.
I'll probably skip it then. That's a huge disappointment. Wow.4K UltraHD BD doesn't support variable framerate
Yeah, its a shame really. 24fps or 60fps or bust.I'll probably skip it then. That's a huge disappointment. Wow.
Oh, is the entire film in 60 fps?Yeah, its a shame really. 24fps or 60fps or bust.
No, Avatar 2 in theaters was 24-48fps depending on the scene (in supported Cinemas). That is not possible for physical home release atm. I doubt hes going to render the whole movie in 60fps just for the BD release. So its most likely going to be 24fps.Oh, is the entire film in 60 fps?
Yeah I’m so annoyed they haven’t done the original in 4k yet. Waiting to watch this one on discI need this on 4K BR. Also, give us a 4K disc of the original.................and True Lies.

I need aliens in 4k yesterdayAgreed. It should be released with Way of Water. It makes sense to release them both together.
Cameron has said that Abyss and True Lies are getting a 4K disc this year, so here's hoping for Avatar as well. While James is at it, he might as well get Titanic out as well.

Surprising no one, Avatar: The Way of Water collected the Oscar in visual effects for its jaw-dropping work that helped to propel the movie to more than $2.2 billion at the box office, making it the third highest grossing movie of all time.
In doing so, Weta FX’s production senior VFX supervisor Joe Letteri collected his fifth competitive award in the category at the 2023 Oscars. He now joins Ken Ralston (Forrest Gump) in holding five competitive Oscars apiece in the category. Both trail Denis Murren (Jurassic Park), who holds the category record of eight competitive Academy Awards.
preferably a 3D one.
No one cares about 3DI don't want a digital copy, though. I wan a Blu-Ray, preferably a 3D one. Not that Disney cares enough.
You only watching it for the story???Got mine now i can watch it on my phone during work/lunch breaks !!
Oh wow, certain websites are being hit hard on this one.
