It of course looks technically sound. A continuation of the first one. But the moment I saw the cat people, and their kids… I‘m kind of over it. It was unique several years ago, but I wish he did something different. Will still watch it, but not super hyped for it.

Shitfest? The highest grossing movie of all time that spawned a theme park... That shitfest?

Yeah apparently the most successful movie of all time is a shitfest even with the high ratings on RT.

Like I posted in a previous reply:

Visually stunning, as expected, but it didn't land as a "ZOMG!11!!!11!!ELVENE!!1! hype levels at maximum!!!11!" trailer. Watching it again, there's a reason for that: it really didn't show much at all. The Avatar 1 trailer basically gave the entire movie away, including several of the big money shots. This time around, it looks like they're playing things much closer to the chest. And that fact alone makes me very excited.

After the shitfest that was Avatar 1, people have every right to doubt the sequel.
Doubting a James Cameron sequel? That's like doubting the sun rise.

Yep that shit fest. I found the visuals amazing at the time but everything else was fucking terrible. No way this does Avatar 1 numbers.

At least Sam Worthington will be happy that dudes career was in the shitter.

Trailer was honestly just meh. Looked great but the movement of the animated characters still looks off to me. They look great visually but for some reason they look video gamey when interacting with objects or other characters. Can’t really describe what I’m talking about. Same issue I have with the original.

Will watch still and watch think it’ll be pretty decent. I thought the first one was a good 7/10 but I have to admit I do rewatch it every once in a while while not really loving it overall. I guess the visuals and some great moments keeps me interested in returning.

Is my memory playing tricks on me, or was there peoples who wanted to become real-life Na'vi and it was cringe as fuck?

James Cameron Presents: A Technical Showcase. Trailer looks like something Blur Studio would throw together for a videogame trailer, but significantly less interesting. Can we get a new Starship Troopers or something? Someone email Paul Verhoeven. A Terminator sequel (Future War?) that isn't projectile shit blasting into the face of the audience? Big budget science fiction that's actually entertaining? I don't care who produces it, but god damn my butthole is sore from the continual reaming it's experienced recently. How difficult is it to produce a high octane science fiction gore fest instead of some CG showcase that only holds the audiences attention in a sense of "geeze those efforts are good". And while I'm ranting, what about some old fashioned pornography where the women have two afros? Is that so much to ask for?

You just admitted he was a director in your ramblings above, no need to get this upset.
He just did your homework for you and you disrespect him like that? Educate yourself. Read the source material he so kindly provided you.

That or you're here to troll which i'm honestly starting to suspect you're doing.

Cameron delivers a spectacle, count me in. His movies are usually very rewatchable in terms of picking different things up visually as well as story wise post that first go round.

Responses in this thread about visuals or quality of Avatar are pretty far off base. Avatar has heart, effects, action, plot, characters, sci-fi, aliens. It's pretty on brand for Cameron, whether you like the films or not.

Read it yourself, he directed it and is credited as doing so.

The only trolls here are those trying to re-write history.

i recently took the kids to see the rerelease of Avatar in 3D IMAX and i think people honeslty forget what a fucking spectacle that movie is, it was 3hrs of pure eyeball melting and at the end they had a 5min preview scene of the bit with jakes kid i assume in the water with the whale and it looked incredible in 3D, ultra clear and completely lifelike, yeah storywise the first Avatar may not be for some but again, this is an event movie not a watch on streaming on yer 60" telly, half of what made Avatar so amazing was those visuals on a big screen and this looks like more of the same shit

Part 1 still looks like its from the future. The movie is great. Anyone doubting the greatness of Avatar is now dead to me.

Not really feeling the hype. Looks good at least but the story looks like a generic native tribe vs evil corp with added FAMILY plot.

Thanks to your insight I now realize that Aliens was just a generic rehash of the original with added KID plot. And Terminator 2 was just Terminator with another shoved in BRAT plot and even a robot developing emotions. How could I ever think both movies were masterpieces in the action genre!

I stand corrected!

I wonder if people will need therapy after this movie because pandora isn’t real.

I'm not feeling it, but James Cameron is a legendary director.

I think it's the right move to offer it in 3D, to me it made the movie 100 times better and more immersive, even with the brightness compromise.

Looks like a trashy movie. Can’t believe I’m on the outskirts here with the Rings of Power, but so many people think this is a promising movie.

First one was one cliche after another. Outside of the visuals it had nothing. How is anyone hyped for this series?

You will be ashamed of your words and deeds.

The cliche of a paralyzed veteran from a dystopian Earth replacing his twin brother as the driver of an alien-human hybrid on the Gaia-entity moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri system and ending up as a transhuman warrior driving the sky people back to their dying world...

Some people ITT should watch the movie again.

No one should watch the movie again.

One scene from my memory- a giant battle scene leads to the main villain in all of the chaos finding the protagonist and being just about to kill him when the second most prominent protagonist saves the day in the very last moment.
It wasn’t the premise, but the execution that was flawed.
