That run was pretty straight forward, didn't seem interesting but that's probably because I don't know the game.
That feel like a VERY precise run and I don't have the game

It wasn't boring. He was doing a lot of really risky jumps.
You' ll be surprised. They're probably not reliable at this level.

Something like DK: Returns has super high level play and this is a game with somewhat forced motion controls, yet runs have about the same amount of mistakes you would see in a nrun controlled with more traditional means.
So far for the runs i' ve seen where there is the option for motion controls, the runner seems to prefer the use of motion aiming. For example the Wind Waker HD run.
i taught he wasn't using motion controls because of the minimal hand movements he's making. The sensitivity most be adjusted really high. i wonder in what setting he has it.
i don't remeber but can you even play single player withouth motion aiming?
It can. At least for the video part. Unless you mean split view and not picture in picture.
What in the ????????? i can't belive this. Some DKC:TF runners actually prefer the Wiimote controls with the waggle over the button controls. It blows my mind since I do somewhat decent speed runs of levels in TF and can't imagine not using the regular controls haha.

Interviews? GDQ eSports now.
Nice to see Bluegrass/YSG again this year! He is definitely the best supporter each and every year!
Motion control typically offers more precision at the cost of ease of use, so it's not surprising at all that many speed runners would prefer them when available. Look at all the runners that do crazy hand contortions like the claw grip.
Not sure if it was at AGDQ 2015 but they tried to turn speedrunning into legit eSports with a Goldeneye race.
It was embarrassing.
Gotta have that yolo swag.

Mostly because of the jumps, not necessairly the motion controls.Motion control Monkey Ball sounds like a nightmare
Fallouts starting off great already
Just waking up, I miss anything good?
Don't get me wrong, im not one of those guys that don't uderstand motion gaming. i know even going back to the Wii days that subtle stuff worked great XDHe was playing on a fresh file and didn't touch controller settings. The motion controls don't require broad movements.
because of the interview not the race

Like i said, it was almost imperceptible, it looked like it was a typical play session with a normal controller. Really hard to notice.

I disagree. Motion controls are usually more intuitive and therefor easier to use. Rather than using a finger you move your hands, and gross motor movement is a bit easier. Of course, this frees up your fingers to do other things at the same time, so depending on the game that could make things more complex.
Didn't read the entire thread, but didn't see it in the op, so here is the great link for being able to play the stream by itself in VLC or MPC.

Got it in a past GDQ thread and forget who it was from so can't give credit. You have to rerun it every time the stream crashes to generate a new link.
Back in the Wii days I always wondered WTF people thought you had to do to use motion controls. People talked about having to play games standing up and wearing out their wrists, or making big motions, when the big motions were always a bad idea and you didn't have to be positioned any different than you would for any other game. As someone who PC games for FPS' exclusively, motion controls (and IR controls in MP3's case) were a boon for opening up the option of console shooters. They were the first thing remotely close to M/K level controls.
On this run: Monkey Ball speedruns never get old. So many failures back when I was playing those games reduced to a single 10 second sprint.
