this comes out today? Shit, time flies. I still remember making the thread about the countdown to the game's announcement.
Looks like this'll have to wait though - gotta buy BG1:EE first.

Will it be available on Steam or do you have to buy it from Beamdog's website?
It will be on steam right away.
Unfortunately it will not be on GoG right away. They're apparently working out some stuff with GoG on that.
If BG can run on phones, I'd love to see it on the Vita. I will have to get this for iPad - looks great. Beamdog have a bright future with Gaider now.
Shitnshit shit. Can't download it for a few weeks at most.
Nice little tidbit, the character record screen was different and garnered a bunch of negative reactions. One of the beamdog forum members created the current one and Beamdog implimented it in recognizing it as better than the one they made.
Really cool example of these guys working intimately with the community in dying gto see how the game turns out.

What? Oh, I see. If its not filled with a half-dozen zingers and tongue-in-cheek references to Elminster then its not worth reading, is it? Well WAKE UP AND SMELL THE TECHNOJARGON, President Fancy-Pants! Not all disclaimers are sunshine and irony! I swear, the next time I see some upstart trying to sell me some trumped up disclaimer about turnip paste and goblin wigs, Ill make them EAT those wigs, and the horse they rode in on! And thats a promise! Put THAT in your release notes!

This from the 2.0 Patch Notes made me chuckle:
...In light of N-Space getting shuttered for Sword Coast Legends' failure, isn't that title a bit insensitive?

It is a play on both SCL and ToSC, actually.
However, I did not actually know that the devs of Legends were closed down... I feel like a bit of dick.
Wow, that just happened this week. Sucks to hear....In light of N-Space getting shuttered for Sword Coast Legends' failure, isn't that title a bit insensitive?
This takes place between Baldur’s Gate and its sequel. That means at least one companion. Some companions—Imoen—is too busy dual-classing into a mage to come along for the journeyaren’t available until midway through the expansion.(Neera in particular)
Beamdog isn't very Steam savvy. You want people to buy your $20 DLC, then put the base game on sale for at least 50% off, if not 75% since their extended edition has been available for purchase for a long time. I already own the original BG from GOG, no way will I spend $20 on the base game just to be able to buy and play the DLC.
So I finished the game roughly 17 years ago. Do I replay BG1 or just start fresh with the exp?
Jag posted one a few posts above yours.
How soon can we expect the reviews to roll in?
Baldurs Gate: Siege of Dragonspear fills in some of what happens to the Child of Bhaal between saving Baldurs Gate and saving your soul from Irenicus, and its a hoot to revisit this world, using the old D&D rules from the 1990s.
But Siege of Dragonspear hints at more a studio thats done with just enhancing older games and ready to carve out a place among the top storytellers in the RPG sector. Beamdogs first effort at original storytelling is a good start, and Im excited to see more in the future, even if its in the world of Baldurs Gate.
The original BG EE is now $5 (75% off) on Steam thru April 4. I plan to get to it after I play PoE, but at that price I'll yoink it now.

They gave it an 87/100
Man, so they actually delivered on this? Always impressive when a waaaaay late follow-up to a revered game actually recaptures the magic.
Does this and 2.0 break mods?

What's this talk of having a canon party? Is it based on the characters that have new content in the expansion?
Do you have to do anything special to enable Steam Cloudsaves for this? Didn't notice my game going to the cloud when I exited.
Edit: Nevermind, I guess you have to explicitly enable them.
Edit Part Deux: Seems Difficulty is broken for already started games, trying to fix mine now. Thought that fight with the Gibberlings was insanely easy.
Been playing through the game for my own review the past couple of days and I have been marveling how well things are holding up thus far and I am not all that attached to the game series.
The XP cap goes up to 500k, which is level 9-12 depending on class.I'm not sure if anybody can answer this yet, but what's the level range for the campaign? As much as I love BG1, the game kinda suffers from being so low level imo and lacks the cool equipment and spells that can be found in BG2.
I also hope that Beamdog improved on their writing skills. For the most part, I really did not enjoy the new content they added in the EEs.
