The Tales of series “Remastered Project” will continue after the release of Tales of Graces f Remastered with a consistent line of remastered works, according to series producer Yusuke Tomizawa.

Speaking during today’s Tales of Series 30th Anniversary Project Special Broadcast, Tomizawa said that while he could not reveal specific release plans—since Tales of Graces f Remastered is still to be released—Bandai Namco intends to “provide [remastered Tales of titles] fairly consistently,” and “intends to continue doing so as much as possible.” He also said that a dedicated development line for the “Remastered Project” has been established, and the team is seriously working on it.

Cool. Graces really was the right choice to start with because, despite how brain-dead stupid the plot and world are, the actual video game is a blast they've imitated but not topped.

Abyss and Xillia seem like the natural followups (even if Xillia sucks). Curious how far back they'll go. I've played all the mother ship titles Symphonia on, but those branch off titles and pre-3D ones I haven't touched. I heard Destiny's supposed to be good.

I have Xillia 1 and 2 digitally on PS3 but I'll rebuy them on Steam for 4K goodness and platform convenience.
Also, can we please get a PROPER Symphonia remaster with 60 fps?

Remaster the PS2 remake of Tales of Destiny and develop a full on remake of Tales of Phantasia in SE's HD-2D style, this is what I personally want. I didn't care much for the latest installment, so it would be great if BandaiNamco went back to when this franchise was actually still good.

You'll get your 30 FPS PS2 port until the end of time and you'll like it.

Hey, speaking of, it would be great if Bandai went back to Zestiria and enabled 60 fps by default as that game looks spectacular with a smooth frame rate. Literally the only thing stopping it is a single NPC tracking quest where some dude clips on a staircase forever, soft locking you.

While I'm at it, some individual volume sliders in Arise for SFX/voice/music would be nice so I can actually hear the game's bitching battle music in the major dungeons.

... I'll stop now.

It seems they want to release a remaster every year and a new game every 3, wich sounds like a good cadence. I hope they don't leave us without any more remasters for the rest of 2025 since they also said the next one wouldn't be a 2D game and those are the really intereisting ones imo.

But my gut tells me that they'll release ToGf and then have an announcemente for the next main title. I hope it's better and more in brand than Arise...

Just bring Abyss to modern consoles finally dammit!

this is the only old tales game I still need to play.
I tried playing it on the PS3, and some may know, with the software backwards compatibly one, some games just didn't work. And this was one of them.
You play for like 10-15 hours, and get to a cutscene, that it will freeze and never be able to go past, and your screwed. No idea if they patched it, but if they did, it was long after I tearfully gave up.

I love Tales of Graces F, and Xillia, but I don't think I care to replay a remaster.

There's a nice texture pack and some patches out for Abyss so you can kind of make your own remaster.

Fans projects have always treated these games better than Namco.

I beat Graces on PS3 and frankly I hated it. I think its time to bring Abyss to the current consoles. Its been locked on PS2 and 3DS since pretty much forever.

So, this was the only news out of the 30th anniversary stream? Man, Bamco really hates Tales. I was hoping to see another Mainline title finally, allthough I'm afraid they will probably follow more in the Arise than Berseria direction.

e: I just checked, apparently they also revealed the sales numbers of Berseria (2.5mil worldwide) and announced another Tales fest or whatever they're called for this summer, where something *may* be announced. I think they have these festivals every year though iirc.

Graces F will always have a special place in my heart for having Hanazawa Kana as Sophie, or whatever she was called. Whoever casted her back then really struck gold, this was still before she made it *big* big iirc

Where is my Tales of Abyss... I never understood why they didn't release it in Europe during the PS2 era.

Didn't even know there was a 3DS port. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Seriously, it is baffling how many times Symphonia has been ported without 60 fps, and onto platforms that should be able to handle 60 fps.

Arise was a big hit commercially so I doubt we'll see anything like a course reversal. Hopefully they can refine what they did with Arise and offer a more compelling story and cast, though.

A more compelling story and cast, a good battle system with no limited pool for healing, more than 6 enemy types, bosses that dont have 99999999999999999999999999999999HP, an arstyle in line with the series instead of havig Soul Calibur rejects as characters, an actual villain, A party of more of 6 characters, a sensible well programmed doge, end battle screens with humorous quotes and scenes, 2D skits instead of awful lifeless 3D stills...

I will be very happy if we can get both Xillia games on PS5 and Switch in the near future. I miss playing them. Let us stream them (and Zest/Bers) to youtube like you let us stream the newest one.
