Elden Ring Runs So Badly On Switch 2 That Bandai Namco Isn't Allowing Recording

I finished on Pro without RT it runs almost locked 60fp without vrr. Are you referring with RT? With RT it's not locked 60fps.

It's not locked 60 so it will micro stutter on non VRR screens. With VRR it's mostly smooth.

IDK, it had stuttering on PC when I played it (funnily enough, it didn't on Linux when I tried it later)

I think stuttering was patched (?), PC is the only version that can have 100% locked framerate.

Well it felt fine to me and didn't use vrr. Higher FPS and higher res vs base ps5 on performance.

Good for you I guess. Different people have different tolerance for this.

I looks right now at ER on Pro with VRR turned off and experience is painful, game drops drops frames and micro stutters with every fast camera movement or horse travel (DRS changes).

Switch 2 version is locked 30fps? Good luck with that, from software ALWAYS have broken frame pacing with 30fps locks...

Do you have an OLED TV by any chance? I wonder if it's one of those OLED TV issues.

Was about to post this. Looks acceptable Fromsoft in docked mode.

Even it it's locked 30fps it will never be smooth thanks to fucked frame pacing, like PS4 version:

Classic FS...

I bet if we had control over the settings we'd be able to make it run better than what fromsoftware will put out as final.

I honestly believe they don't care about smooth gameplay and refuse to lower settings that we all would.

The steam deck version plays okay on garbage settings and I enjoyed playing it when I had a steam deck.

that's a consistent problem with most developers sadly.
Apex Legends on PS5 can't hold a steady 120fps, while similarly specced PCs can easily.
the culprit here is also just idiotic settings choices.

for one, it has TAA enabled, which should not be a thing in the 120fps mode, because that mode is clearly catering to more serious players, and those wouldn't want TAA smearing and artifacts on screen.
secondly they set the draw distance to a lower setting than even possible on PC (which has some annoying side effects like invisible objects blocking your shots), but at the same time kept shadow detail above the lowest setting, and kept ambient occlusion enabled.

turning shadows to the lowest settings, and turning ambient occlusion off gives massive a farmerate boost on PC. you can go from 100fps to 120fps in the same scene on PC, simply by turning ambient occlusion off and lowering the shadow settings to the lowest.

this crap happens all the time...

Aye it's weird.. the switch 2 shits all over steam decks 1 power.

Yet omg this must be the fault of the devs from soft.
The Switch GPU is a lot better yes, but its CPU is a lot weaker than the steam deck.
A trade off that makes some comparisons less favorable.

"A lot weaker" is a lot to say, the Chinese benchmark shouldn't be trusted by the way it was performed, it wasn't the actual Switch 2 CPU but "something something similar more or less in my opinion", and the Steam Deck CPU was measured using its max clocks, which it almost never reach because the GPU also have to render graphics and both share temperature and wattage limits afaik.

I'm not saying the Switch 2 CPU is comparable to that in the other consoles but the test was performed in a way that would make it look way worse than it probably is to Steam Deck.

It dosent shit over the steamdeck. It had a more efficient architecture with a reconstruction secret weapon but in terms of specs its stonger but not a stomp or anything. Im not even sure if the cpu is even equal to the zen2 in the Steam Deck, maybe that's why the framerate is struggling. Not to absolve From of blame they are technically terrible but thats a factor for all their platforms.

Isn't the Switch 2 basically a reversed-Series S? The problem with that thing is gimped RAM and lack of raw GPU power, while the Switch 2 apparently has an atrocious CPU.

This game is not smooth on PS5 pro even (without vrr) so how it can be smooth on Switch 2?
After years of blur, bad framerates and poor picture quality, some people don't see anything anymore.

Despite the poor quality video you can easily see that docked gameplay is super choppy, yet people are there saying "looks good".

The switch 2 is more powerfull
The steam deck 2 will prolly be also more powerful compared to switch 2

And the switch 3 will prolly beat that one.

Surprised Meme GIF

Some people say that the GPU on the Switch 2 is about 70% of the XBox Series S and around 50% the CPU of it.

Memory bandwidth seems to be double in the Series S compared to the Switch 2.
The former use 8Gb for games and the latter 9Gb.

I'm not a tech savvy person btw.

I mean yes, I know the gpu is more powerful, but its not by a multiplier tier margin. I wasnt expecting the cpu to be that slow compared to the 4core zen2, makes more sense why the steam deck can push out comparable or better performances in certain scenarios, albeit with much worse image quality and certain settings but dedicated development is a big boon also.
