Banjo-Threeie Debut Trailer!

George K, please answer me this

"This may have been mentioned or answered already, but can you send and receive other people's vehicles? I'm an absolute nightmare at designing or creating things, but I'd like to gawk at the rad stuff other people would no doubt create..."

thanks

That's something we're not talking about just at the moment... OMG TEH SUSPENZE!

Sorry, but we'll be revealing all that kinda jazz a later date. However, I can say that all multiplayer aspects have been thought about very carefully right from the get-go. I can promise that B-K:N&B won't be a game where that aspect merely feels tacked opn in the slightest.

so basically you're confirming this? Awesome

Btw, George, VP2 garden seems to be same size but i didnt hear anything in previews about the items limitations from the 1st game?

Is it gone? improved at least so there´s much more freedom to design each garden?

This is off topic but since George K. will only notice my post here then I'll post it here.

George, why does Rare avoid answering any question that involves someone asking for a sequel or if there's a sequel of Conker's Bad Fur Day? I was disappointed that you guys bleeped out most of the stuff in the remake for the Xbox and I really thought multiplayer was hideous. So are you guys working on a Conker sequel or do you plan working on a Conker sequel after Banjo hits store shelves?

They were supposed to unlock things in Banjo-Tooie. But they scrapped that feature and just put everything in BT.
That's not exactly right, but the simple answer I guess.

Rare didn't put them all into B-T, by the way. They only put in the eggs and key "that we knew about" IE, the Ice Key, the Pink, Blue, and... Green egg? There were actually like six eggs and the key, but since only hackers found out about the other shit they just put into B-T the bare minimum to appease people who weren't in-the-know.

The actual answer to the question was, Rare figured out a way to transfer data from one game to another using a system called Hot Swapping, where you could change out the carts in the N64 while the system was still on and the game running.

There were meant to be challenges in Banjo-Tooie that would give you hints or items or power-ups that you'd then Stop and Swap the carts back to Banjo-Kazooie to use. Then, once you obtained what you set out for in Banjo-Kazooie, you'd hot swap the carts once again and use what you found in B-K in Tooie. To quote Scribes, the unlockables would have been "Spiffingly desirable."

However, Nintendo didn't like the idea of hot swapping and were afraid it would damage the system and game pak.

And that's just how B-K and B-T connected. Before B-T was made B-K was meant to be hot swapped with DK64, which is likely another reason Nintendo didn't like the idea. So once it was scrapped from DK64, it was moved to Tooie, and then scrapped all together.

Will fans ever find out what those eggs and key ever did? I sure hope so. Even if they're never able to be used in the games I'd still just like to know what the features would have been.

Edit:

I don't remember where, but Chris Seavor (Conker's dad) has stated that Conker's Other Bad Day is on hold. He's burnt out on Conker right now and wants to do other things. (Completely understandable as he had to make the same game twice in a row, however it's still disappointing...)

I need to catch up with this thread, I can not wait but can anyone explain to me the train track in VP2?

New toys and items are brought into the game as well, like a train track, and race cars which your piñatas will interact and play with, and some items can alter the weather

So by 'interact' I assume they mean Pinata will ride it and not that we'll be witnessing Squazzils tieing Whirlms to the tracks and watching them get run over.

Improved by atleast 2/3 according to this interview.

:lol poor whirlms, they´re the first, most basic piñatas and still one of my favourites.

Anyway that would be a nice idea to use for the new photo-mode.

No, because VP has mindshare from its decently rated TV series.

Also, VP has moved a lot of copies. It's just that most of them were pack ins or cost $10.

Banjo 3 should be a pack in game, IMO. Time for the 360 to branch out this christmas..............

I doubt they would end up packing in Banjo.... but maybe VP1? or even #2?

Still hoping we eventually get the old rare games up on XBL :P Maybe add in the keys/eggs that unlock stuff in the other version in for that release :P

Well, it's true.

I don't agree with that...developers shouldn't be limited to making prettier remakes of previous games, especially if they can find a cool angle (i.e. the transformations) to expand on without destroying the feel of the game.

If a straight Mario sequel had done what this game is doing, it would have been hailed as genius.

Nintendo published those games, so fat chance they'll show up on XBLA. I'd love to see it though :(

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter that Nintendo was the publisher for Banjo 1 and 2. Rare can put them on XBLA regardless.

Then why did they have such a problem with Goldeneye?

Because that is a Bonds license. Many, many parties involved. If Rare solely owns the License to Banjo they would be free to do as they please, that would be the question at hand.

While it's true there's more parties involved with the Bond license, the reasons behind Goldeneye not coming out seemed to be heavily influenced by Nintendo.

I would imagine that Rare could re-build the old Banjo games from the ground up (like they did with Conker), but I also imagine that Nintendo owns rights to the code that ran on the N64 since they published it.

The real fact here is that none of us (aside from George) know the specifics behind the publishing deal.

I'm trying to play the old BK now...it's so much better with a nice framerate. :D

The music is really, really great. Is the same composing team back? Also, please don't put more SQUAWK SQUAWK voices in. God, they are worse than Okami!

I'm tempted to try this just for the vehicles. I was a big (the only?) fan of Gummi ships in Kingdom Hearts, and this looks similar.

I just want to make an imperial star destroyer and an Arwing. :p

Got this months GamesTM mag in the UK where they have a 6 page preview of Banjo apparently ..

We've nailed the Star Wars ships now, we have an X-wing, Tie fighters, A wings, B wings, Y Wings and we also have made an R2 D2

Game is gonna be amazing

I'm glad Rare are not trying to sell this as a sequel by adding 3 into the title. At first I was really annoyed they replaced platforming with platforming in vehicles but now I just want to try this new game.

I'm looking forward to this game but to me, a huge fan of the originals, don't see it as a sequel, it's more like a spin off with the characters, like Paper Mario.

Here's hoping they do make BK3, this should have been developed as a new IP and not used the BK cast to boost publicity and sales.

Brashnir said:
And if it does sell well? Will we see Jet Force Gemini: Nuts and Bolts next? ;)

I'm partial to Perfect Dark Zero 2:Nuts and Bolts myself

While I'm perfectly happy with Banjo heading up this building concept, I was actually a little surprised they didn't use this building mechanic with JFG.

Should have been Blast Corps: Nuts and Bolts

A few years a go I would have never imagined a Banjo Kazooie game with Cars, Helicopters and Mounted Weapons.

Yay for trying new things! I was a bit skeptical at first but the engineer in me is excited to build some crazy vehicles. Kind of random but I loved the customization in Chromehounds and using customization to solve puzzles and such sounds fun.

I´ll play them again too as the release date gets closer.

The composing team is the same and they are also backed up by other musicians from Rare, according to Gregg´s recent interview. Parts of the ost will be orchestrated also.

Regarding voices, they did try to voice over and said it was awfull and decided to keep to classic ones. I like them.

I absolutley can't wait for this.

In all honesty, I am not a pure platforming type of guy so I was really excited to see that you were taking the genre and expanding upon it in a new direction. Congrats on that George K.

Was it talked about if there is going to be any split-screen MP?

Holy crap. Now that you mention it, this kinda is like Blast Corps. Awesome.

Looks like it plays similar to the first game but with added goodies.

The me 10 years ago would have 100%ed this like I did the original (and obsessed over getting that mystical jiggy piece you couldn't actually get), but I think I've gone past this kind of gaming. Sorry. :(

If any of the younger generation in my family end up with a X360 though i'll buy it for them and sneak a quick go.

I saw scans... please rare, tune the colors, it needs to be colorful, pleeeease.

The screens on the net are insanely colourful, something you will always lose when printed in CMYK. What you can tell from the scans is that we've yet to see the more detailed areas (the pier and the carnival area look a lot more detailed)

After playing catch up, mauling over most of the hands-on preview material, I'm cautiously optimistic. The mechanics are indeed intriguing, so here's hopping for the best - a quality, fun, unique final product.

From here on out, I'll most likely be on a media blackout, don't want the experience completely spoiled. ;)

Banjo has a history of selling millions to all ages and VP does not have that track record.

It's good to see something genuinely new and exciting from Rare (ok, VP was pretty good too). I'm not a big fan of the art style, but other than that this game has got me excited.

A banjo kazooie nuts and bolts 360 would actually do somewhat well but it'd have to be as follows :

A core xbox 360 that comes with a 64 mb memory card and 1 controller as well as a copy of banjo, viva pinata 1, possibly a banjo faceplate included at the price of 199.99 USD. It undercuts the wii and comes with software aimed at a family audience, then for the rest of us they make a gears of war 2 premium bundle that comes with a gears faceplate, gears 1 and 2 , the usual premium fixings and 3 months of live for free at the cost of 329.99 USD.

I think Banjo 3 is going to be amazing and and can't wait for it personally. I think the new direction is fresh and just what the platform genre needs.

Genuinely new? If it was they would not have based this game in Banjo universe, Banjo will sell this game much more than any of it's mechanics.

I also bet many Banjo players will pick this up and be disappointed. Regardless of how well the vehicles are implemented, they chickened out of making a proper platformer.

This makes no sense, the only thing the game needs is decent marketing. Everyone except for the "hardcore" Banjo fans really like the look and concept of this game. A better presentation(final version/steady framerate/balance between adventure build gameplay) should be able to sell this game. It's looks fun and if they focus on that with the marketing it could do great saleswise.
