Banjo-Threeie Debut Trailer!

I don't remember where, but Chris Seavor (Conker's dad) has stated that Conker's Other Bad Day is on hold. He's burnt out on Conker right now and wants to do other things. (Completely understandable as he had to make the same game twice in a row, however it's still disappointing...)

Still, he had some other projects in between with Arc Angel and Quest.

Genuinely new? If it was they would not have based this game in Banjo universe, Banjo will sell this game much more than any of it's mechanics.

I also bet many Banjo players will pick this up and be disappointed. Regardless of how well the vehicles are implemented, they chickened out of making a proper platformer.
nah, i'm glad they didn't do it like the old games, that way i don't have to say "Banjo 1/Mario 64 is still better".

and after 8 years, it's good to see good old Gregg Mayles still rocking on with fresh ideas.

This is another game that wasn't on my radar, but after watching those videos, wow. Looks beautiful. And the vehicles could be fun if there's not too much futzing required to build them. (I was one of those who bought Viva Pinata and soon traded it in because it had a bit more depth than I expected or wanted).

Anyway--looks hot, hoping for the best.

Super Mario Galaxy was far better than Super Mario 64, and it didn't add any elements that drastically changed the core gameplay like incessant vehicle modifications will in Nuts and Bolts.
That being said, I think this game could possibly turn out to be good, but not as a new entry in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Why is it that most people that bash this game bring up mario at some point? Ass hurt cause its not on wii?

Usually people compare games with other games in thier genre.

Oh wait, I guess you're right.

sorry, I had to

Don't act like Wii owners wouldn't want Banjo. That's like a 360 owner saying "Well who gives a damn about Metal Gear it's more movie than game anyway."

If Banjo as is (lesser graphics quality and slight changes of course) were announced for the Wii. Pretty much everyone would be excited about it and any attempt to say otherwise would be a blatant lie!

Anasui who said this would be a Mario Galaxy killer? Also while we are on the subject I wouldn't be remotely surprised if this game did in fact end up being better than Mario Galaxy.

They're already off to a great start and if they nail a lot of the things in this game and challenge gamers to become creative with the types of things we need to complete objectives along with some consistently strong level design throughout, I can see Banjo : Nuts & Bolts being the top platformer for some time to come.

It probably wont review as well as Mario Galaxy did, but the potential for it to be better is definitely there based on what we know so far.

You know, I actually think these ideas sound cool and could make for a really awesome game...

if this was a Blast Corps sequel.

As it looks now, this seems to have nothing to do with what Banjo Kazooie were about. Still it sounds interesting and I'll be interested in it if Rare actually pulls off what they are talking about, but Banjo seems more than a little shoehorned into this game. It actually makes me wish that they'd have brought back Blast Corps if this is what they wanted to do. Blast Corps was my favorite Rare game.

I am a huge fan of the BK games on the N64 (my two favorite games for the console, in fact), but I'm not so sure of the direction this is heading. This was probably the only game that could make me buy the 360 (there's no MS warranty here, so if it RROD's you're doomed -- a risky proposition) but I'll think it twice now.

I do think this has a lot of potential, and other than the hideous character design it look very good. I was just expecting a more "traditional" 3D adventure-platformer, seeing as there barely any these days. It didn't have to be just Banjo HD, I believe there is potential for innovation without straying too far off the genre, as seen in SMG.

your post is definitely biased. I understand you're hyped, but have you actually played Galaxy? Have you actually seen how many fresh- and functional- ideas are in there? Banjo will be lucky to even remotely resemble 1/4 of that game

and no, I wouldn't be excited if Banjo were on the Wii. I own a 360 as well and I'm not excited, not because I hate Banjo (I loved both games to death, besides some horrid framerate Tooie was top notch , monstrous size and incredible effort) but because I don't trust Rare no more. I was a big fan, but they sure went down a cliff between last gen and this one; none of their new games have been as good as their old ones, and I played em and I agree with the score they got. Too much expectations are being put behind this title, and Banjo will need to be absolutely amazing to make me trust the company again, which I doubt it will

sure I'll be happy to be proven wrong, because that'd mean +1 sales for Rare and credibility, currently down the toilet, completely restored

The Rare Witch Project has posted some concept art that was given away as part of a contest:

The winner hasn't been decided yet. The contest was to design a Banjo level; I entered, but there's some pretty tough competition from what I've seen.

I wanted HD Banjo. But I was never a huge fan of the art style that was originally shown.

I just want to get turned into more and more exotic household appliances. Fuck having to build them.

Man, that is some brutally ugly character art. I'm surprised that the in game models actually wound up looking somewhat decent considering that's what they were working from.

It looks downright incredible.
Yay!

Pssst!

I gotta secret... I actually like the art. I didn't think I'd like the angular artwork, but it works. And whoever is their concept artist has stepped up in a big way from their Kameo artwork.

call it crazy nostalgia but Mario 64 is still the best for me.

It is.

I was never able to get into Mario 64, even though I tried many times. I absolutely loved every bit of Super Mario Galaxy though.

Just like I couldn't get into OoT but loved Wind Waker.

FIRST! Do I win?

EDIT: And the next person to talk about Gummi Ships in this thread gets a jar full of diarrhea poured over their head. From me.

The fact that this game is being repeatedly compared to Mario Galaxy, probably means we're in for a treat!

another 200 posts confirmed

So I finally decided to try Viva Pinata and I'm disappointed that I waited this long to try it out. The game is fantastic, definitely going to go pick it up later today and then get the new one in September.

Maybe, they did say they chucked a load of ideas out before they settled on the vehicles though.
The game starts with Banjo and Kazooie horribly overweight from not gaming in over 8 years. He apparently hasn't even mowed his lawn either. :lol

There's not one video of Banjo-Kazooie (or Viva 2) on the Marketplace. But there sure is all the latest stuff for Gears 2, NG2, Fable II, etc.

Fuck you Microsoft, stop playing favorites :(

Wait, I've been in the jungle for two weeks so I've missed a shedload of stuff - there's going to be a proper Viva Pinata 2? Not some Viva Pinata: Party Animals type minigame collection spinoff?

Rock on.
