I feel like Platinumm was the MVP of this episode.

And I don't mean that as an insult. It was definitely a step up from the last few.

While I still like the show a lot, it doesn't feel like it has come even close to matching the highs of the first season, and generally hasn't been as entertaining.

Before this season started I was worried that they might not be able to keep up the pace of S1, and I think that's been the case. Disappointing.

Banshee is good but also try Hannibal. Season 2 starts this Friday.

I enjoy the episodes individually, but I'm not as hooked on this season. Might just be because I marathoned S1 or I miss the previous dynamics such as Carrie not yet being outed and Gordon not yet living at the strip joint and neglecting his kids. For what I think of as a fun show, those characters have been downers all season.

S1 also had some inventive and/or brutal action sequences and they're seemingly trying to keep the action varied and may be running out of ideas. The flashbacks were also really good and that well may be dry.

Agree with pretty much all of this. Second season is really missing something (a lot of somethings, tbh) that got me so hooked in the first place.

Yeah S2 been largely messy and throwing shit at the wall, trying to have something stick.

Last episode however suggested a new found focus, so hopefully we can move on, even though this season is almost over, i hope this will at least be a foothold for S3 to start with some momentum.

New episode tonight:
Evil for Evil

An illegal search warrant helps Lucas bust Proctor, at a cost. Sharp and his skinheads look for payback against Emmett, testing the limits of the deputy's patience. Carrie provides the cash for Max's treatments and takes a small step towards thawing out her relationship with Gordon and Deva. Job finally gets a lead on Rabbit.

I saw this on in Taiwan and thought it was just some shitty straight to video movie from the 90's. I'll have to try and watch it next week.

On one hand I lived in Taiwan for 10 years and love it there.

On the other you just insulted Banshee.

Funny thing is, i once caught an episode of Strike Back on tv and thought the same thing (watched about 2 minutes though).

When this season of Banshee is over i'll give it a fair shot, however.

Oh man Emmett. And I wonder why Rebecca named the stripper? I was actually surprised Rebecca didn't rat out Hood, and for a second there I thought when they went with the warrant that she would have emptied out the room so nothing was there. And HMMM @ her sitting in his chair, definitely a hint of foreshadowing there.

Emmett :(

That was the first Chekov's Box Of Medieval Weapons on TV for sure.

The way the tension was built up to Hood opening the secret door I was sure Rebecca had removed the weapons without telling Proctor to prove herself but Rebecca seems to want to both keep her position of wealth and power and get rid of her creepy uncle. Mentioning Juliet is a bit odd but maybe she'll tip Hood so Proctor gets to add attempted murder on a witness to his weapons charges. I also really like how they made Juliet such a pivotal character in the Hood/Proctor struggle, at first it seemed she was just a random extra. Just like Proctor saw her.

Intro scenes:
Hood: His shadow agains the cross in Proctor's gun room
Carrie: Putting back together the pieces of her life. There is also a dead butterfly among the pieces, the death of her old life ? In season one there were shots of a moth drawn to the Hood flame.
Proctor: The Forge, his visit there.
Sugar: That creepy mannequin is getting a beard drawn on its face.
Job: A rabbit. First time he's not sharing pictures with Sugar.
Gordon: Carrie's picture of picking up the pieces along with a woman with her back to him. Some sort of reconciliation between the Hopewells.
Brock: Nazis and Emmett.
Emmett: The bible in blood, his principles and the blood he sheds despite them.
Siobhan: A picture of her split in two. Her conflicting feelings about Hood.
Deva: The final picture almost visible.
Rebecca: New bible verse, proverbs 12 22: The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. On the Banshee Vault it's also mentioned the plate with the cleaver (Proctor) is dirty while one with the badge (Hood) is clean.
Alex: Alex wins a hand with a flush. Proctor has 3 tens but cannot match the team of 5 against him.
Rabbit: More drawing on the egg and a refilling of the pen.

Brutal as usual. Brock is the GOAT detective. There is a possibility that he ends up dead though I can see it. :(

Edit: In one episode, in a few scenes, this show shows what the black man goes through and has to bottle up better than a lot of other fiction that has tried to do the same.

Be sure to watch season 1 (aka Origins) first!

Well, when i watch a new show i usually start with Season 1, yes! :p

Great Ep this week.

I wonder if Hood is gonna given Emmett Jason's money, and have him escape or something.
I mean i can't see how they can spin this, but stranger things have happened in the show, legally speaking.

I'm getting tired of this editing. And whole season feels very disjoined. They showed Rabbit's brother in the first ep, then 6 episodes of nothing and there he is in this episode. No, just no.
Where are all the super-violent fights from season 1? Sex scenes?
I mean in season 1 we got bar fight, MMA fight, bikers fight, prison fight, Carrie and Olek fight, Hood and Proctor fight and all that in the first 8 episodes.
While in season 2 there are fights they just doesn't feel as good as ones season 1.
And editing, this whole intercut bullshit, stop it.
I'm not the only one with these feelings am I?

No.

Great to see Emmett get a lot of screen time this week, and I thought the actor did some nice work with it. I'm curious where they take him from here as he seems poised for a significant shift in one way or another (leaves town with his wife, teams up more with Hood, ends up against Hood, etc...)

Indeed, he was, so far, the least used of the deputies.

You forget "lose his job and end up in prison" as an option. That's what would happen in real life, anyway.

real life? this is banshee man. emmett's gonna get a medal of commendation

good episode. best female in the series carrie needed more screentime though.

first two episodes of season 2 is one of the best action films in a while. good buddy cop banter

No matter how brutal this show can be, I had to look away when the Neo-Nazi kicked Emmet's wife in the stomach.

Yikes, poor Emmett. That's rough. Still, I'm glad he finally received a good deal of screen time - it's about time they fleshed him out a bit.

I was actually surprised Rebecca didn't rat out Hood, and for a second there I thought when they went with the warrant that she would have emptied out the room so nothing was there.

I thought so too. I thought that she had either moved the stuff herself or told Kai and had him move it during the night.

Well, when i watch a new show i usually start with Season 1, yes! :p

I just mean that the US version is weird and they aired the seasons out of order so "season one" isn't really season one, it's season two, and the real season one is labelled as "Origins". It's just sort of confusing. :p

The entire season has felt very disjointed, for sure, and the bizarre editing isn't helping things any. It's really bad.

I'm disappointed that we only have two episodes left this season and there's still virtually no overarching storyline to speak of. What's going on with Rabbit? His brother? The crazy chanting Native American dude? This season (while still pretty good, don't get me wrong) has felt very meandering. Where's the momentum?

So they really don't have cameras in the police station if they showed Emmett closing the shutters but not disabling cameras.

I have a feeling Rebecca is going to flip on Kai sooner or later and cause him to go into jail. But it's probably not going to be now. This 'hey, let's get warrant -> bam guns -> Kai's arrested was too fast and hurried. No way that's going to stick, and Hood should be camping 24\7 at that woman's house to intercept Burton's attempts to silence\kill her.

God no. It's getting to the point where it's putting me off watching the show entirely. I'd love to know why they've decided to use that editing style and what they think it adds to the show as a whole.

I'm also really disappointed that there hasn't been a story arc like there was in season 1. It's caused the season to feel very disjointed and lacking in direction. They've added some great new characters (Chayton. Remember how much he was hyped up?) but have done nothing with them along with getting rid of characters (Nola) while hinting to something dark about their past...

And now there's only two episodes left...I really, really hope they have something explosive planned.

I'm catching up. Finished season 1 in a week. So fucking good. Started season 2 today.

So far my only complaint is who the hell holds a 15 year old grudge? And I find it hard to believe Anna would have any issues whooping on that girl on her first day in jail. Should have been a 2 punch ko

Nope. Poor sophomore effort, overall. Hopefully they can redeem it to some extent in the last two episodes. I'm hardly at the point of dropping the series, but I'm not terribly interested in S2 joining S1 in my blu-ray collection.

I feel ya. Banshee was my #6 show of last year, but I don't think season 2 will even make my top 10 this year.

It was in my top 3 last year...and upon a rewatch after I bought the blu-ray it could very well be #1. This season may not make my top 10 this year, but it depends on how the other shows go.
