Miguel said:Tim Pupurra should be plenty able tohandle the job. He's been involved with a lot of the current dealings in the past 2-3 years. He's had a bunch of offers but was promised the job after Hunsicker was gone. They just sped up the process because Gerry wasn't going to sign an extension, and the contract is up next year. Gerry was gone anyway...![]()

steinbrenner is expected to offer pedro martinez a contract even though the rest of the organization says he shouldn't.
Billy Beane may very well trade Tim Hudson, but I can garauntee you that he'll get something far better than fucking Jorge Posada for him.speshylives said:Posada needs to get his ass to a gym, because buddy boy looked weak beyond belief all season. He was not the same Posada of 2003.
All you need to see is how he almost missed nailing Ortiz (technically, he did, but what does that matter now?) on an SB. DAVID ORTIZ weighs 800 pounds and runs just about as fast as my 61 year old asthmatic mother.
And Beane will make the trade considring its Hudson's contract year coming up. Better to get something in return now instead of nothing later.

Joe said:posada is signed for another 3 seasons and hudson is a free agent after next season that's why beane would consider trading him.
.
i love how posada (who came in 3rd for mvp voting last year) is all of a sudden a crappy player.

Don't be surprised if the Marlins make a play for Cubs right fielder Sammy Sosa, who owns a home in South Florida.
The Cubs would need to pay the bulk of the $43 million that Sosa would earn through 2006 if he were dealt; they could start by taking back Marlins right fielder Juan Encarnacion and his $4.45 million salary for '05. The Marlins, though, can offer prospects in exchange for cash. Adding a slugging outfielder would enable them to move right fielder Miguel Cabrera to third and third baseman Mike Lowell to first. ...
Red Sox free-agent righthander Pedro Martinez also might be intriguing for the Marlins and other NL teams in warm-weather cities. Facing less taxing NL lineups would help Martinez lower his pitch counts, and pitching in warm weather helps him loosen up quicker.
Of course, the Marlins could only afford Martinez if they had the assurance of a new ballpark. The Padres would need to trade left fielder Ryan Klesko or first baseman Phil Nevin. The Dodgers might make the most sense if they're willing to meet Martinez's price...

Fifty said:That would make no fucking sense, and I love the guy. Here we are trying to cut costs in every area....still rebuilding....playoffs aren't in sight, and we're going to waste over 10 million a season on this guy? What was his old salary? 15 million? 20 million? Even if he takes a massive paycut it's not worth it. Even if we raise the budget a little bit, because we're now profitable, don't waste it on the same guy who has taken us nowhere in the last few years. Spend that money on 3-4 players, maybe for the bullpen.

who said he's the reason we lost?evil solrac v3.0 said:yeah, that's it. sttotlemyre is the reason we lost. brilliant.
speshylives said:He's not the reason the Yanks lost, but I can't see where Stottlemeyer had a positive impact on the pitching staff this season. Obviously, Vazquez fell apart this year and Mel couldn't get him on track. The very fact that it was found that there was nothing wrong with his shoulder shows some ineptness on Stottlemeyer's part in helping Vazquez with his mechanics. He went to complete shit after the All Star game.
The Astros today removed the interim tag from Phil Garner, selecting him as the club's manager for 2005.
"I'm happy. ... This thing all came together quickly this afternoon. We had long talks and we got things wrapped up this afternoon. I'm very pleased," Garner said.
The move was announced at a press conference this evening.
CHOO CHOO!!!
We love our Astros in Houston.
And all across the lone star state.
We're Texas Proud...and we shout it loud.
Our brand of baseball is great!
