One things for certain, I don't think Tino would have made an ass of himself in the playoffs liek Clark did. Regardless of the one that went over the wall, he looked like absolute shit at the plate.

I'm a transplanted Yankee fan (spent my first 20 years in Queens and then retired to Florida 45 years early.)
Me and the other transplants all agree that we'll be purchasing Marlins jerseys if Pedro signs with Yanks. One guy was born in the bronx and has been a Yankee fan since the 40's.
It'll be a sad day.

I can't believe the Mets are obsessed with putting together a middle-of-the-order that would set massive new records in strikeouts with Soriano, Sosa, Sexson, Matsui and Cameron. Minaya has much better access to stats than I. Doesn't he read them? None of the folks he wants hit well with RISP, they K all the time, and are on the decline. We tried this same philosophy years ago, and got to a World Series and then paid for it every since by not building but papering over cracks.
Why be so obsessed with re-signing Benson when there are better pitchers out there for comparable money? Why decline Leiter at 4-5 mil and go after another five-inning pitcher who's guaranteed to break down for 13 per?
Unless Sosa and Pedro are foundations for the ultimate goal: Beltran for 10 yrs at 20 mil per. Maybe they believe the two former give them credibility.
