Bat in the house!!

There is a bat flying around in my mother's room. It is just flying around in continual circles, any ideas about getting it out? Would it be best to hope it lands and try to catch it in a blanket? Or would it fly out the window if I am able to get in there and open them up? I would go in now but it flies at me every time i open the door and I really don't want to get bit in case it has diseases. Any recommendations on the best way to get a bat out of the house are appreciated.

Actually this isn't my first reaction, we've been waiting for it to calm down for a while so we could throw a blanket on it. So i figured I would see if anyone had any other ideas. You weep for me xsarien yet you are on this board at almost all times, guess no one can ask a question. moron.

open the window and hope it flies out is the best bet or wait till it lands and throw something over it.
 
wow guess I hit a nerve with some here, he or she flames me then I respond and you all get in an uproar. What mission in life, I got plenty to do, just trying to help my mother out and have nothing to do till the bat calms down so I make a post on a message board, yet I'm in the wrong.

Why don't you do something useful and call someone, like animal control?
 
Because I am going to throw a blanket on it and bring it outside when it calms down, rather then calling animal control for 1 bat. I already said that.
 
If a bat is found in a house and the possibility of exposure cannot be ruled out, the bat should be sequestered and an animal control officer called immediately, so that the bat can be analyzed. This also applies if the bat is found dead. If it is certain that nobody has been exposed to the bat, it should be removed from the house. The best way to do this is to close all the doors and windows to the room except one to the outside. The bat should soon leave.

Exactly how many bats inside your home does it take before you call animal control?
 
My mom used to hunt them with a tennis racket and a steak knife. She'd pin it against the wall/floor and stab it to death through the tennis racket with the steak knife. She liked hunting bats.

I hid under a blanket.

enough to require extermination, I am fairly certain it will be much easier for everyone involved to catch it and let it go outside, its not like anyone is freaking out over it, it's really not that big of a deal. the bat seems more afraid of us than anything else. I'd rather not have animal control come and make a big deal over it. As I said my main reason for posting was to see what people had to say and if anyone had this problem before.

Ghaleon, I would rather not hurt the bat.
 
Get a big bag, and lure the bat into it. When he gets inside, close it, and then set him free out the window. That worked fine for me when a bat got into my apartment. :P

Wow. We had a bat in the house last week.

Dbish literally took the spear prop from our tiki bar and SPEARED THE MOTHER****ER after whacking it with a broom.

What a man.
 
I'll say what I said in the other thread. The bat clearly has taken control of the house and is in charge, you have no other option...




Burn the house down.
 
In case anyone cares, once the bat landed I opened the window and took a blanket and forced it to fly out the window. Was pretty easy to get rid of. I must say that the bat was a cool little fella! I was looking at it when it was perched on the curtain and it was larger than I imagined. Also those things are awesome when they fly around and can make amazing turns in the air. A bird would have crashed into the wall hundreds of times flying at the speed this bat was flying.
