Baten Kaitos and RPG question(s)......

I'm new to RPG era for some time now. I know there are different kinds of RPG games out there so I may get confuse since they all have different and unique leveling up and magic combinations.

Here are the RPG games I own now:

N64 Quest 64- my very first rpg game in my life.
GBA FF:TA- too slow and just clear 6 mission out of 300 missions. Considering to sell this stupid game or trade it off for another game or N E of you might want this.
GBA FF I & II: Dawn of Souls- just completed part one & gave up on part 2 due to unique leveling up type.
NGC Baten Kaitos: EW &TLO Loving it every minute of it.

How much do you leveling up before you encounter your first boss or any other boss?

Right now, I'm at the Celestrial River Passage or whatever it's called... I'm having a hard time killing the Robotic Boss at the bridge. My level is around at over 400 HP, Level 9 (i think) , 30/30 cards and so on.

I may have gone too far (maybe not too far) in the game and may have to start over and do alot of leveling up much i can before i encounter the dumb "celestial boss".
I'm hearing people trying to level up beyond 500 HP before they encounter the boss "Giacomco" before they continue the game. Is that true?

Yes, I would stay at some place and level up some more. There will be some crazy bosses later in this game.

get fire emblem too, truly one of the best games i played this gen.

If he didn't like Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance, I don't think he'll like Fire Emblem either.

That's what I was thinking too...maybe stuff like Grandia II is up his alley, since it's fast paced and allows for experimentation without a lot of micromanagement

There is a good RPG series on the PC it's called Baldur's gate and Baldur's gate 2, they run well on a P2 333mhz and you could buy both for less then a new console game.

I hear very good things about them.

On a side note they are both in the top 4 RPG’s of all time on gamerankings last time I checked.

Sorry to hear about your RPG experience... 3 of those 4 titles you picked up are garbage.

It's hard to know what you'll like though since the titles you've played are rather atypical RPGs. Final Fantasy I & II Dawn of Souls was the typical RPG of 15 yrs ago (and sadly, even continues the tradition now), but they really dumbed down the difficulty and upped the encounter rate on that one.

You didn't like FFTA, an example of the StratRPG genre. But one can't really be sure if it's because it's a pathetic attempt of a SRPG or if it's because you don't like the style of SRPG games in general. I guess you could say the same about Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls too, for traditional japanese style RPGs.

My suggestion is to play more RPGs. If you only have Nintendo systems though... hrm. Not a whole lot of games to work with.
