Batman Arkham Asylum's Detective Mode

Replay the game and don't use it unless the game forces you to. It's an added challenge, and one I think should have been a Trophy/Achievement of some sort, just so more people would see all the artwork in normal vision.

Having just played through the game twice, both times I had it on maybe 75% of the time and flicking it off to take a look at the actual game.

it was TOO useful so we used it a lot but ended up missing out on the art design of the world with it off. it was all up to us as a player whether we used it or not.

It amazes me that people can master 14-button combo chains that require precise enough timing to nail a single animation frame in a 60fps video feed - yet they can't master a single button press to toggle detective mode when they need it.

It showed everything that was intractable in the map. If it was orange I went towards it and hacked it, grappled it, opened it and collected it.

I never really turned it on, wasn't there another way to figure out things? such as the controller vibrating? I actually didn't play the game for a while because I forgot how to do the picture snap with the riddler clues

nope, Detective mode was pretty important for the Riddler clues as well as finding hidden walls to blast open to continue the story as well as complete those stealth challenge maps.

I don't know. I've played it on both PC and 360 and each time, I flicked into detective mode, saw what I wanted to see and flicked back out. If you're staying in detective mode, it's your own fault.

Exactly how I played.

The temptation is strong to remain in detective mode. It makes spotting enemies way too easy. But I always flick out of it when I don't need it.

I feel like I didn't spend that long in the mode. I flicked it on when needed to check enemy placements etc, then swiftly back off.

I mean, I do see the issue, but it just wasn't one for me.

This.
