Batman Arkham Knight PC Players Still Finding Problems After Relaunch - IGN

Just love some of the comments on this thread lol. Complaining even though Rocksteady don't have to support their product, but choose to do anyway. Had this been EA or any other publishing house, they would tell the fans to fuck off as they made their money months ago.

i dunno, EA did greenlight the battlefield 4 cte which has to be costing them a lot of money. over a year of development with no way to monetize it. regardless, people are entitled to a working game when they pay for it. if WB advertised the pc version of the game in a representative manner so we all knew what state it was in before we bought it, then youd have a point.

yeah I'm done with WB and I hope other PC gamers do the same.

i know all most people care about are +1s but if its trash like this its not worth it.

This is what we call "Stockholm syndrome" and it's the reason that this sort of thing continues to happen. Thanks, bro.

Also you're mixing up developers and publishers. You mean WB Games, not Rocksteady.

I wouldn't say so. They've been amiable yhud far and bitching about it isn't going to help.

No, actually, bitching about it IS going to help. It's going to show other publishers that they can no longer get away with the shit that WB tried to get away with with Arkham Knight, especially with Steam refunds now being a thing, and consumers not being afraid to use it when they purchase broken games.

It is so strange that I played through this on PC with no problems. It came free with my GPU. I'm not trying to downplay the issues others have had, but it is so weird to watch this happen after I finished the game.

Dafuq?!! Are you being serious?

2500k
16 gb ram
980 TI

it stutters like shit

Did you edit the engine ini's a few months back? If so, try deleting them and then verify to get the default ones back.

It's really the only thing I can think of. It makes no sense that my computer runs it nearly flawlessly and yours doesn't. My i7 950 predates your CPU by at least 2 years.. and I have 12GB RAM. Same GPU though.

Did you play the game @ 30fps with little to no eye for frametime issues and stuttering?

You may not be sensitive to frametime problems tbh. That could also be another explanation factor.

So this game is still unoptimized crap. Good to hear. And WB still has the balls to charge $50 for this months late, poorly ported, pile of dog-doo. Or $90 if you also want the season pass. Because god forbid WB do anything to make it up to the PC players that they completely shafted with the original release.

Oh wait, Steam says you get genuine quality TF2 items when you buy Akrham Knight. That totally makes up for all of this.

It sounds like they gave up on fixing it after the Septemeber patch because it cost more money than they were willing to pay so they said screw it, make it DLC compatible so we can start making revenue again.

Rocksteady only made the console versions. The PC version was made by Iron Galaxy and published by WB. I think they are only trying to fix it because of the wasted investment. WB invested in a PC version and many PC gamers don't want to buy it/got a refund because it doesn't work. This also means less season pass sales. WB has also taken a big hit to their reputation so making this right is in their best interest. It is not a favour for the players.

To get the game more or less stutter free with a i7-4770K and a 970 at 1080p I had to come in under 3.5gb on the Vram threshold, even though it showed I had 4gb to play with. I only have 8gb ram so not sure if that's the reason, or if its because of the 970's Vram issue.

Basically, the game is punishing. On lower end systems it must be ridiculously punishing.

The only thing you can say in the game's defense is that you can at least see where all that power is going.

If you release a game that doesn't work, you absolutely have to support it post-launch. This isn't people whining about wanting more content. We want to actually play the game as it was intended and advertised. Stop defending this bullshit.

Didn't try to unlock the framerate because people were having issues, but just watched a video and didn't notice stuttering like they had and no major drops.

You found it strange that you didn't have problems by avoiding what you knew caused problems?

Getting 30 fps in this game was already possible day one, if you had a high end PC. It was, and still is, when people try to get a GOOD framerate by unlocking the framerate that the real stuttering and fps drops appear.

How can anyone mess up this port twice?

I just want to hear Sefton Hill say something about this now — just one bit of acknowledgement of the situation, something not typical dismissive PR speak.

Quoting myself from the other thread:

Haven't tried the game recently, but even when the hitching was minimal and only out in the city, it was unavoidable, and was actually seemingly worse when I capped the game to 30 fps. For a lot of people, they can't even run the game at console settings and avoid hitching, something that is way worse than lower framerate or post-processing, in my opinion.

...

I've seen too many people saying the PC version is merely not up to PC port standards — for some people and in some instances, it's worse than the console versions.

Nope. They pulled the damn game. I know there are issues.

I'm getting VRAM usage higher than 4 GB and I'm playing on my 1080p TV. I have a lot of effects turned on but still... seems a bit high, right?

There's a scene from the Justice League animated show that featured the Joker plotting to blow up Las Vegas if the league couldn't stop his team of supervillains. At the start, Batman appears in a TV exec's office; guy gets scared, indignant, tells him to get out. Batman says that the guy's company just sold airtime to "Gwynplaine Entertainment," the guy says "yeah, so what?" and Batman says "Gwynplaine Entertainment is the Joker!" and he tells him to have their feed cut before the program airs.

I had half a mind of making a gif/webm where the subtitled text said "You had the PC port handed off to Iron Galaxy — Iron Galaxy is the Joker," but now I don't know for sure who's company to put in there.

I tried playing it yesterday and was astounded by the fact that it generally ran as smooth as it when I beat it several months ago. Which is to say, kinda choppy, but not unplayable. Then I check my setting and saw that the resolution was 4k, whereas I was running it earlier at 1080. Dropped it down to 1080, maxed the rest of the settings (including the gameworks stuff), and restarted it. Now it runs really good, though with a slight stutter here and there.. I'm not doing any benchmarks, but it's a hell of a lot smoother than it was earlier, and at 60fps. I almost want to play through it again, but do the main mission before I do the side stuff just for the different dialogue.

Now, I'm not defending this port, or the company behind it...but it's gone from a wtf port, to fully playable but could use a bit more optimization.

BTW, my specs are:

gtx 970
i7-4790k
8gb of ram
Win 10
Installed on SSD

The problem i keep having with the game is that it will run flawlessly at 60 fps at about 80% gpu usage at 3440x1440. Then out of nowhere the gpu usage will drop to 40% and just hover around 35 fps. This is with no vsync and 60fps cap in fullscreen or in borderless fullscreen. I just gave up and just locked it at 30.

My Specs:

Intel 4970k
Nvidia GTX 980
16 GB RAM
Win 10 64 bit
SSD
GSYNC

I turn everything up to max except for the Nvidia smoke which I leave off,

After all the patches have been applied I went from having freezing/hitching, textures not loading, and FPS all over the place to the game running at 60 FPS 99% of the time and never dipping below 50 (the FPS dip is not noticeable at all at and above 45 fps using gsync). What a huge great difference compared to the console versions now!

I had preordered the season pass, so now I will finally be giving this game another full play through and play the DLC as well (I completed the base game on PS4).

PCGamesN PC port review

http://www.pcgamesn.com/batman-arkham-knight/batman-arkham-knight-pc-port-review

At this point, it seems like Arkham Knight is beyond hope. Perhaps the situation with the game is so bad that this really is the best that it can possibly be, and that’s really not good enough for a triple-A game that’s been getting fixed for four months. The state that it is in now is a significant improvement over the mess it was in June, but it remains a poor PC port marred by performance issues and bugs.

Verdict: Failed

As I suspected the game can't be repaired by patches. The streaming system is completely designed for the shared memory of the consoles.
The middleware is not suited for ports. Exchanging the middleware and restarting the port would have been the only feasible solution.

they are colluding with RAM manufacturers to boost sales

yJ46hBW.png

When in reality they should be colluding with better programmers and a talented PR team to get them through this mess.

Rocksteady will have neither my support nor my money for their next game. Any WB-published game will either be a no purchase or a sub-$10 purchase. I kind of hope Rocksteady's next game crashes and burns, to be honest.

Grand Prize for him is stop being a idiot!

Seeing how they removed the game from steam and lying about doing better performance with only 1 patch in september and that didn't help a lot and now releasing it again with nothing at hand..i also say fuck you warner bros for your incompetence.

You're right, we should appreciate that we're being fucked over in a kinder, gentler way.

...you're not the marketing director for EA again by any chance, are you?

People like you are the reason why shit like this is a thing. we should all be grateful that the deemed it necessary to fix their game? fuck that, the only reason why a re-release is happening is because of steams refund button. No praise should be given at all for this.

Sounds like Rock Steady's support is as inspiring as the effort they put into this game.
I don't think it's a Rocksteady fault here. Why some people continue to accuse them? They are not involved on PC port, they are not interested to port on PC. WB want easy money without invest and we have a cheap port. In my opinion it was even better that port not would exist from the beginning seen the effort put on it, but I was covered of insults when I tried to say something like that months ago.

No, I'd take a PC port with issues over no PC version at all.
Your reasoning is idiotic.

I really don't understand why we are quick to lynch WB when their track record is more respectable than others. I think it may come down to patience and leniency. Lol, love that comment by the guy who called me an idiot based upon one simple post. I guess if it makes him sleep better at night knowing that he gave somebody shit, I guess I praise him for that.

Haha holy shit screw WB. It looks like the quote in the OT about the only different being add-on stuff isn't true, but still - release a buggy mess, pull it after the resulting PR disaster, promise a relaunch where it is fixed, and finally relaunch it and it's still a buggy mess. It's the definition of not giving a shit about your customers or your game's quality.
