Well, with SciFi Channel premiering their own shitty made-for-cable Mars movie Crimson Force tonight (complete with re-used effects from Total Recall and costumes from Red Planet), they're running a shitty Mars movie marathon of Mission to Mars, Red Planet, and then their movie...
Personally of the three I'd have to pick De Palma's Mission to Mars. Red Planet sucked as soon as they killed of General Zod and then turned into a shitty action movie.
Mission to Mars, at least, was more of a pure SciFi movie trying to capture the tone of a 60's SciFi story very much trying to emulate Bradbury. It failed, of course, but the movie gets a big plus for having astronaut Story Musgrave in it and not becoming a crappy action movie like Red Planet. It also had a much better cast.
