Pretty bad stuff. Should have gone with Borderlands 3.

It's better than Sunset Overdrive's dialogue at least because you couldn't escape it in that game. Battleborn is such an audiovisual clusterfuck, it makes it really hard to pay any attention to what the characters are saying. It's all wise-ass white noise to me.Decent game, but has some of the stupidest dialogue I think I've ever heard since Sunset Overdrive. It's almost worse imo.
It's amazing how Overwatch blows this away in terms of character design/development.
I feel like that while this game wants to do everything it can to not be a Borderlands game, yet it's more or less a bad version of a Borderlands game. Didn't play much, but what I did play was very dull. The writing made me roll my eyes. The variety in actions was lacking.
I mean, good on them, they tried something different. It's just not for me. I hope other people find enjoyment in it.

I actually really like this game so far!
This is actually the first MOBA game I've actually liked and wanted to keep playing after the initial hour.
The story mode missions seemed more like a "training mode", instead of just a regular story mode. Still, it was pretty fun and it helped me get accustomed to the game's controls and characters. It definitely tries to not come off too much as a MOBA in this aspect. Since most players were new to the game, it was a bit of a mess at first, but after a bit, everyone was interacting and working together as a group. Pretty cool stuff.
The VS mode I played was the "destroy the opponent's stuff" one, and... man, it was rough. Two of my matches actually went 0-100 because my team was too focused on killing the opponents rather than actually doing what needed to be done. This game is not Call of Duty and people need to understand that.
With that said, the actual gameplay is really cool and works for people new to the genre.
I used the gentleman sniper robot and the stereotype soldier and had a blast with both characters. Their specials were fun to use and worked well assisting others when the team was on track. Really liked the many different things you can buy with gold, too. Adds a fun twist to what essentially is "capture the flag".
Other things I noticed:
Aim assist is off, so you have to be go to the settings to turn it on. I didn't need it, so I didn't use it. Still, I can DEFINITELY see why people might be struggling.
The game's framerate was dipping a bit on PS4. 30FPS is weird, but it didn't affect my playing in this game. Would have preferred 60, though.
The dialogue was on par with League's, so I didn't see a problem with the "Gearbox Edge" or whatever peeps are saying. Maybe it's just me.
The visual style should be adapted and reworked for Borderlands 3. It's good stuff.
The longest I had to wait for a match was 3 minutes. Not too bad, in my opinion.
I think there essentially is a Ready button, it's just not displayed on-screen, so most players likely just hang there in confusion, not knowing that the game is waiting for them to choose a loadout, because when you only have one it doesn't even look like a loadout selection screen.and WTF does it insist on counting all the way down from 75 secs in the character select screen, surely they can implement a ready up button FFS
Impressions in here make me even more think this will be a huge bomb.
.
Whilst i have no doubt this game will bomb, i wouldnt trust most impressions right now, look at these screens.
PS4 players have no idea how you play a MOBA, managed to win that 3v5 game just because the enemy had no idea what to do...
Wait for PC player impressions, this is just confused console players who will later complain they get the same Ass creed game every year etc
Console players are so stupid amirite? Us PC players are so much better educated in games that we should laugh at them.
It's a new game and a beta, its not even a proper moba really give folk a chance to learn.
it just amazes me that devs think its alright to release a FPS with 30fps and input lag, it just feels horrible and immediately puts me off
In this day and age where most fps's are 60 or have super low latency, you're not going to cut it
Did i say that ? no.
As you can see by the thread, people don't want to learn, you either get immediate satisfaction (reasons games are so frontloaded) or delete the beta.
Pretty much loved every character ive played so far

What does the game do to teach "console players" how to play besides loading screen tips? There might be some readable items here and there, but the single player does not serve as a good tutorial. I partially agree with you in terms of how console players generally aren't moba players (possibly, if we pretend that they don't have mid-tier PCs as well), but if that be the case, the game should at least have a running guide to explain the basics.
I could be wrong, it could be tucked away under the menus and the queues, and I'm willing to learn if so. But it's silly to expect people to not be ass at a game if the game does nothing to teach them.

Really hope it doesn't bomb, I am really enjoying it! Where as I had no fun with my time in Overwatch. But, if it does bomb I may be pushed into buying Overwatch because I need a new MP game.
Also, Toby is amazing, great character.
Because of Overwatch and because it's Gearbox.Yeah it looks like people have already decided to give this game it's last rites just because of Overwatch. Which is a shame as these games are very different.
Probably the first time I have agreed with TotalBiscuits point of view on a game too.
It does do a lot of things right, It may be a bit busy with the colour scheme and effects, but its a ton of fun and a bit of a laugh too.

Halo 5 has sluggish and unresponsive aiming? What is this I am reading? The thing is, just slapping 60fps into games, wont be enough. The other big point is the aiming mechanics.
Play something like Battlefield 4 and Battlefront and then go to DOOM or Halo 5. The aiming in the last two games feels sluggish and unresponsive by contrast to the first two where it feels so crisp and VERY responsive.
A lot of games, sure adapt to 60fps, but when the aiming just plain sucks and annoys, i couldnt care less about 60fps...
I really hope Overwatch hasnt the same issues with the aiming mechanics.

I'd prefer they try something new other than stale sequels being churned out. I am enjoying the hell out of the beta so far, still trying to get a grip on character matchups but I think they have a winner here.
Only played the MP a bit and I have absolutely no idea why this game is 30FPS (looks like it drops below that as well) and without motion blur it looks choppy too. The input lag makes it worse.
Very very basic lighting, flat shaders, not really effects heavy and it doesn't really seem to be using any for of PBR (if it is then it's a poor implementation).
Overwatch looks a lot more advanced graphically and is solid 60FPS. It barely ever even drops the resolution from 1080P despite running a dynamic res setup.
