See things like this really make me think there EA getting involved while the game is being developed. Telling DICE to basically be casual then when the intial sales are made and BF1 made the money it was supposed to, EA doesn't care what they do now.

Well if we had a class that could fortify points by placing a few obstacles or upgrading defenses or reparing equipment around an objective.

Support can do that. They get Tripwire (or I'm thinking of BF3/4 ugh)/Claymores and the repair tool (which was engineer. DIIIIIIIIIIIIICE) that can repair stationary AT's and cannons. I forget if they can repair "disabled" ones that are "killed" but it is completely possible to help support your team's defenses. The problem is, nobody uses it because "lol self-repairing tanks, so why should I equip it?"

It's another of their baffling design decisions to "Casualize" the series while bringing nothing to the table. Same with the stupid-ass self-refilling grenades they're doing on CTE. YES LET'S PUNISH SUPPORTS EVEN MORE and make them even more selfish! What can go wrong!?

The incentive is you keep your teams flag captures going. This has always been the case with Conquest: Whoever stays behind and shoots whoever comes to cap is the teams most valuable player in regards to wins. The issue is: Defending doesn't give points, and when you're trying to rank up for class items and leveling: Getting points quickly is what you're wanting to do.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to get at. As crucial as defending points is, it doesn't yield nearly as many points as constantly rushing off to cap flags, even with squad orders factored in.
 
There are spots in Battlefield 1 where I can just spawn as support and stand next to an ammo crate and huck frag grenades down a set of stairs, and I will stay alive the entire match and have top 2 score on my team. If I'm squad leader and I can spam the point that I'm squatting on I can be #1.

Now one thing I really liked is the tweaked Madsen. I liked it plenty before the patch (although it definitely has a steeper learning curve than the BAR) but now it's just flat out ridiculous. If only the goddamn magazine didn't block everything - this is pretty much the only gun I wish there was an Optical variant of.

Definitely less, especially when it comes to gas. Reducing max gas grenades to 1 from 2 is possibly the best thing they did in this patch.

They're all fun to use though :(
excluding melee weapons and driver/pilot stuff, there's only 5 weapons in the game I've less than 100 kills with and all of those are sidearms.
 
I'm pretty excited for this DLC. A lot of the changes actually sound like they're trying to push the game in the right direction. Less than a week to go!

This and Dice having no clue about balance. I understand you can't revive someone who's blown to pieces inside a tank. But someone who got sniped in a flak or anti-tank canon? Doesn't make any sense. But don't get me started on poor map design of some of them or general blotchiness on a game design level.

As for the capture/defending topic: in the game Dirty Bomb you also get points for sticking to your team mates. Almost a shame that someone needs that kind of positive amplifier to stick to their mates and not for venturing off alone, but I think when games introduce such feature either way, for instance for suppressing fire etc. it should definitely be in the game, too.

Has DICE said how much the upcoming DLC is going to cost? All I see is that the Premium Pass is $50 and will give access to all 4 DLC packs plus 2-weeks early access.

But what if I don't want all 4 and just want this upcoming one? How much will it cost?

My guess is $14.99 but I don't think they've said yet.
 
So I've been playing a lot of Operations lately, and it's fucking brutal when you're on the attacking team. You can easily get a really good score, but it's practically impossible to win or even make it to the second map unless the defending team is absolute garbage.

Eh, you can win on attackers. Problem is no medics reviving/people declining to wait, nobody understanding you need BOTH flags to push up, and the Behemoths being nerfed into the ground.

I play on console so the biggest issue I see is that there's no easy way to communicate with the rest of the team. Whenever I get put on the attacking team, I end up switching to medic immediately because we just get ticket bleed. And even then, there's no way to let people know not to quickly redeploy or do a coordinated push.

Why does the inventory won't show up? Have this issue on PS4 AND PC. In the gameplay options it's set to always on. Am I missing something?

64 or 40 players operations? I don't have any issues winning as attackers on 40 players operations.

Another example: 'Monte Grappa' with us having our base at A, our spawn region at C is often placed towards the enemy's E flag. Of course, again with no cover against their snipers from 'E'.

I'd rather had this fixed to improve the fun instead of adding new content, but since that's already pretty late I wouldn't want to wait any longer. They should have moved the release date of BF1 a bit back; and also should have give Titanfall 2 some space to breath.

Most of this stuff drives me crazy but the new score system for Conquest is straight up garbage. Makes comebacks almost impossible.

Very good list. Totally agree with the new Conquest system. Like 100 points are sometimes manageable, but everything above that is basically game over. Don't get the people who cried over the Conquest system in the Beta. It was a much better solution.

I would also like to add these, because I consider them a major problem with the game:

- Tanks still being able to repair themself. Something that should not be possible at all and if it is it should be very limited like a 1 time Emergency Repair. If they are heavily damaged (broken turret/chain), catching on fire, etc. you should not be able to repair yourself. Also pretty much rendering the repair tool useless. Nobody is running arround with it anyways.
- Snipers being way too easy to use. Heavy aim assist, bullet magnetism, no real bullet drop and the most annoying thing which is that 1HK sweet spot garbage. Doesn't even have to be a headshot. Just hit them in their shoulders/breast area and it's an easy kill. So many people that are level < 10 and gods at sniping.

64. Maybe I'll try out 40 to see if it's less of clusterfuck for the attackers there.

40 still has the "no waiting to revive" issue, but it's muuuuuch less hectic because it's less "choke-point"y and cluster-fucky for that mode.

Same with Rush. I hate when people on BF3/4 made 64-player Rush servers. It was clearly not what the mode was intended for.

No shit, because it's still linear! Why the hell couldn't they take B and D and move them to the sides like some suggested!? More proof they don't listen to the right (read: me and a few others) people.

At least they acknowledge that's something wrong with the map design of Suez, too little though in my opinion, but at least it's something. Maybe we will see better of the course of the next... uhm, months, I guess.

When it comes to unlocks. I’m definitely going to get the Chauchat first, it’s pretty much a BAR, but better. Probably the strongest DLC weapon. Next I’m going to get the Ribeyrolles. It seems like a fun weapon and I get bored of using the Hellriegel all the time. After that the RSC 1917, it seems pretty interesting with it being a two shot kill. I’m not even going to bother unlocking the sniper or shotgun. They both seem like ass and I don’t really like those weapon archetypes.

Er-The same as BF3/4? You can integrate it with the other maps, but if you don't own them you'll be kicked. Same as any other game.

I read somewhere you need to make a number of hs with a smg to unlock the Ribeyrolles. I think in all my hours, I've probably only made a handful of hs with a smg. It's going to be a tough slog :(

Its currently 20 headshots with the mp18 optical and 50 kills with the automatico factory iirc.

Yeah, the headshots could be a pain in the ass. Pretty much just spray upper body and hope to get lucky. Or if you can sneak up on people.

Okay, yeah. I tried out 40-player a few days ago, got put on the attacking team, and won on the second map with two battalions to spare. It was pretty intense in some spots too so it wasn't a steamroll.

It's one datapoint for me obviously, but it's crazy how the feel of the match between 64 vs. 40 players is so different.

New maps drop today! Super excited, hit level 100 too last night. That's the first time I've ever maxed rank in a bf prior to new DLC drop! Love this game.

Any new tdm maps? I haven't fired BF1 in a bit from game overload but I'm getting the itch. I've come to realize my SPM is fucked from get go with all the tdm I did early on so even tho I've worked it to like 900 I just gotta not care.

Tdm is perfect pickup and play for me, I love operations to death but I just don't always feel like doing an hour or so match, least not right now.

But curious if they added some tdm maps.
 
I'm surprised they aren't raising the level cap. In BF4 they increased it by 10 every DLC. They did the same for Battlefront. I mean I'm only 85 so I still have awhile to go, but I'm just curious because they have always done it.
