Wake is definitely the red headed stepchild of the bunch, which isn't bad because Oman, Sharqi, and Karkand are amazing. Wake is just less amazing.

I love the improved destruction!!!! Doesn't look as "prebaked", and the debris is increased and stays on the ground for a very long time. Each building looks different when damaged so no more " building damage lvl 1/2/3 " look, etc.

And that's just 3 small random buildings on wake island. Imagine the downtown areas of the other maps *drool*

F-35's are fucking useless, that is all.

Thought the same thing last night.

Infrared is mostly useless now as well. It either works the same as it did before, and is super useful, or it is grayed out by smoke fucking everywhere.

There are two issues that have really been bugging me. I play on 360 btw. Games rarely fill up anymore. I'm constantly in games where it's 7 on 9, 9 on 10, 5 on 5, etc. Also, the lag seemed to get much worse last night. Maybe it was just an influx of players, but I had a lot more moments where it felt like I had shot a guy 10 times, and then I died randomly and he had 100% health on the killcam.

Actually, one more thing. Flares don't work for me or my friend, ever.
 
How much does the flash suppressor affect the accuracy of the L96? Also, it's supposedly the same bullet as the M40, but it seemed quicker/less drop. That can't be right/must be my imagination.

The bullet itself is not the only factor that determines bullet speed/drop off. Size of barrel for example will have an effect on these numbers. Same bullet in diffrent gun will perform differently.
 
I only played for a little bit last night (kept DC'ing from servers and crashing), but the maps looked and feel great.

It's almost night and day between the regular maps. Not just in terms of map design, but map content. There are so many different buildings, structures, alleys, and building interiors to explore/utilize in the new maps, compared to how every vanilla map uses cookie-cutter buildings/interiors. Seine Crossing is even more of a joke now.

Is the FAMAS really that good? It has too much kick imo.

No, not it doesn't. In fact I haven't really needed to use burst/single-shot on any of the new guns yet. Which is insane.

The second medic unlock has no recoil or bullet spread at all. Just hold the trigger down on a person and if you hitmarker them once you pretty much hold the trigger and kill them with the rest of the bullets. Crazy. The FAMAS is similar and the only downfall of it is the damn iron-sights (not going into how broken it is with it's RoF/damage, but~)
 
Well, unless the FAMAS gets its own ammunition type, they're not going to nerf the damage or it would nerf all other weapons using the same ammo. If it's balanced, it will probably be through handling/recoil/spread.
 
It's not a bug, apparently it's not authentic as the G3A3 cant house a M320 in real life

Well what the shit. Now I have the AN97, which also has the undermount rail, but now with this gun I can mount the M320 but not the MASS. Is there any rhyme or reason as to what you can and can not undermount on these guns? And I don't want to hear any bullshit that starts with "in real life...".

I'd be totally okay with that, but right now (on PS3 anyway) everyone and their mother is running FAMAS. Why? The high RoF, no/little recoil in addition to the normal bullet damage = broke gun and LOL LET'S USE IT.

Give it it's own ammo type and then have that bullet damage match the high RoF to where you can't take out like 3-5 dudges with the damn thing in a clip. You can't do that with most other guns.

Really? It and Oman are surprise favorites for me. I was all about Wake (until they gimped it on consoles) and Karkand (until hollow buildings and LOL LADDERS PEW PEW SNIPER) before those two, but I've completely 180'ed. Sharqi isn't too great on Rush, admitted but it's still a good map and Oman is good in Conquest AND Rush.

It will be just easier to nerf other factors on the gun like the recoil. They want to keep the ammo pretty standardized in this, but the other factors give them lots of room to nerf/buff weapons.

It doesn't take 10 mins to figure out. You just go to the customization load out, and see that it doesn't work. You don't need to dig out a guide book.

It's not a realistic shooter, but they are attempting to add realistic elements unlike their past games which often completely had no relation to reality or how the real gun acted. The guns used to be just skins pretty much in old BF games, here they are putting a sense of authenticty in the design of the weapons. Good for them.

Your letting a very minor thing bug you really, its a simple thing of clicking and learning in a few seconds what can and can't be done with a weapon. It would be nice if they put an indicator into the menu or something that would indicate whether the underslung item would attach to said weapon to make it more streamlined.

Authenticity and realism are two different things. And I'm not disagreeing with you, just stating the reason why some things are and are not available. It would be nice if they better conveyed it.

And the reason it was bugging me is because I want, desperately, to put a MASS on the AN97, since with a 2-shot burst and heavy barrel it's very much a ranged weapon, and the MASS would be a nice compliment to its short game.

Which brings me to this: the M320 buckshot. You only get one shot and it's horribly slow to reload, so can I assume this thing is pure devastation if it hits the enemy? I don't see any data for it in the weapon charts, but I'd hate to think it performs the same as a standard 12G buckshot.

All shotguns damage is supposed to be based off the round outside what they did with nerfing the semi auto stuff by making it count as a different ammo type.

So up close it's a 60% damage weapon for underslung, so nothing amazing. On hardcore it's one shot kill though.

Best round in a while. I'm Live_Feed. What a difference a quality pilot and flares make. This dude didn't carry any himself, but i'm watching him dodge locked rockets into the ground when we were left vunerable.

a lot of their 'good' players dropped from the game when originn and i were taking infantry, tanks and jets out. you'll notice they have 29 players listed on their team when the server is 32p. so yeh i had fun. they had soflams up, majority possession of the airbase and stingers/javalins out. air superiority dominated the round. originn was an exception pilot, the 2 times we got shot out of the sky was due to guided shells. the rest of the locks were dismissed with flares/clever flying.

it was my first time with a great pilot and we dominated.

I've only tried oman and wake so far and they are both good. Gulf of Oman was one of my favourite BF2 maps and it plays really well here. Tearing around it in an IFV is awesome.

The f-35 seems pretty crappy. It has so much inertia just flying it around and the hover seems to be underpowered. It is quite possible I am doing something wrong but it seems very difficult to get it to gain altitude while hovering. I'm using a 360 pad on PC and am holding down the left trigger to get hover engaged. Hitting the afterburner helps give it a bit of lift. But it mostly seems like I am drifting downwards until I start transitioning back to flight mode.

Looking forward to trying Karkand and Sharqi tonight.

Why does the map keep getting worse in every game? It was great in BF2, decent enough in BC2 but it's just absolutely useless in BF3. Has anyone from Dice mentioned if they are looking into changing it?

i haven't seen any data, but in BC2 it was better than using 12G up close and significantly better at distance. it had no distance scaling and needed 1 less 'hit' (out of the 12 projectiles in a 'shot') to kill up close.



Did such a thing as the M320 Dart used to exist? Or did I dream this up?

Perhaps I do. I don't use the M320 or the Mass since I's rather carry a medkit for the team. But I was using the M320 for the sake of the assignments. The upgrades I've unlocked for the M320 are listed in Battelog, but there's none for the M26 Mass when I click it. Hmm.

There is a kill feed glitch that when you are killed by the m320 it will show up as the m320 dart sometimes.
You see, when it popped up to say I unlocked the M320 buck, I was convinced it said Dart. Maybe the same glitch at play.

From what I played of the new maps last night (admittedly only played for a couple hours), there are way WAY too many snipers on them. It's ruining my enjoyment of them. I realize snipers are necessary and great even but I was never overwhelmed by them in the stock maps. I couldn't even take 2 steps out of my spawn point on the Gulf of Oman last night without getting picked off, as well as the other map with the tall buildings.. It made BF3 from "Epic" to "frustrating as fuck" for me pretty quickly.
 
These maps are ok. Maybe I would like them more if I could find a normal conquest game. The mode where one side doesn't have an uncap isn't fun. There is regular conquest right?

Yea the minimap is a clusterfuck. Cant tell what's what. Give me letters, and with nice readable icons and ill be happy. Also put auto squad join back. Too many people not in squads now.

What do you mean? I can't put enough emphasis on how important the mini-map is in this game. More so than any other fps I've played. Seems to be more than adequate IMO, or are you referring to the map during spawn?

No not this. People who don't actively join a squad have no interest in playing as one. At least now when I join a squad there's a decent chance that we'll stick together.
