Battlefield 4 PC performance thread

Had that problem. I needed to remove every shred of the Nvidia driver, restart, install the latest and remember "Clean" option, then it worked.

Damn, I upgraded the last one (331.65) and didn't do my normal clean remove via driversweeper and clean install.

That and I just updated to a new Sabertooth X79 bios. Living the hard life here.

My game just froze and rebooted as soon as it loaded, anyone know what to do. OC has been rock solid up until this point.

Full screen issue anyone? nvidia card. Anytime I set the game to borderless full screen it always launches back in window. I can't even get full screen to work.
If I go borderless I have to go to video settings each time it launches and change something then change it back for it to fill the screen :(

The performance of the end credits is terrible. I can't believe how long this is..

The song probably restarted 2-3 times already.

Well I jumped in.. performance is good.. when it works. Freezing with a DX error in crossfire, must be that issue discussed earlier. Two out of the 3 servers I played were laggy at times. I'll try disabling crossfire for now until the issue is patched.

Can I run this at 1080p @~60fps on a 5850 OC, i5 750?

I doubt it. Well, unless you want to dial down all the settings to medium.

I'm about to try this right now because my crossfire 5850 situation is not working out, so I'll let you know how it goes.

My specs are:
i7 920 @4.2GHz
Crossfire 5850 (875/1125) - will use one
12GB
Windows 8.1

I had that problem with BF3 but it looks like I will just have to do what Sethos did and do a clean uinstall and fresh clean install. It's not a big deal but I hate redoing my custom resolutions and all that over and over. I wish there was a quick way to back up the config for nvidia CP.

My copy is downloading but it's going to take around 14 hours :(

Does anyone have a rough idea of how well it will run on my PC?

i5 2500K @ 4.9ghz
GTX 680
Only 4GB of DDR3

Running at 2560x1440

Yeah, the game runs close to 60fps with all settings at medium 1080p on one 5850 OC in a 64-player conquest. Disappointing until they get crossfire fixed. I can do all High @1440p with it.. :/

Upgrade to at least 8GB if not 16GB of RAM. You're gonna want it. Rest of your specs are pretty good, should run 60+fps on high or ultra.

Awesome! That's all I need too. Gonna have to OC my 750.

Thanks for the update.

5850 is a beast.

Let me know if that fixes it for you. If I do a clean driver wipe I have to hook my monitor up to integrated port for some reason, video card ports don't work at all it seems without drivers.

Yeah, I'm that lazy.

After more testing it seems that ShadowPlay is crashing my games. I still get a crash here and there without it on, but it's basically guaranteed to happen quick if I do have it on. It's too bad because right when it came out it seemed to be fine and I liked it.

I think I fixed most of my crashing issues, it seems for me that when I use the battlescreen on my second screen and the commander issues a order it crashes my game, so I stopped using it and I was able to play 4 rounds in a row with no crashes.

Is anyone getting what looks like a thick stuck pixel around the top left of their screen? It only happens in this game.

someone else?

i7 2600k

GPU getting overworked. Underclock it and then run the game. my gtx580 did the same after a while. couldn't run at stock clock speeds and would crash.

am I the only one that takes 4+ minutes to load into a game? When I'm playing with friends, they tell me they're already playing while I'm still loading.

I keep getting stupid graphic artifacts, I wonder if the game doesn't like my OC on the GPU. Gonna try and lower it some tomorrow, but this is how it can look for me sometimes and it won't go away until the next map.

Audio issues tonight. Sound effects cutting in and out. Pure silence one moment and then a minimal amount of sounds the next second.

This is actually server lag related. I've noticed a lot of 64 player servers having terrible performance issues. I heard from a friend during the beta that NFOservers were blaming it on the current punkbuster implementation.

This is the most unstable game I have played in a quite a while.

Sometimes I hate being a PC Gamer. I buy a game and end up waiting for it to be patch by both the developer and the graphic card manufacturer for it to be playable.

This game just gave me my first Blue Screen of Death, wow....funny thing is I never had an issue with this system, 5 hour sessions in Battlefield 3, Batman Arkham Origins in the past few days, yet I get it here.

I did a stress test, Mem test, CPU test(overclock settings, thermal Paste) and god knows what, nothing seems wrong, unless it is the Nvidia Driver causing this.

This has made me quite Sad, Angry and confused...spending $50 on the game and another $50 on premium and I'm scared to boot up the game again.

SPECS:

I7 2600K@4.6GHZ
GTX 670 4GB in SLI
8GB DDR3@1600MHZ
Windows 7-64 BIT
NVIDIA DRIVER Ver: 331.65

I'm so sad guys! :(

Thought I would chuck up some screenshots of BF4 running on my system. I am running AMD Catalyst 13.9 and my system is:

i7 930 @ 3.5GHz
12GB DDRIII
256GB SSD
HD7950 3GB
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

I am getting a constant 60fps with the "high" setting at 1920x1200.

Been crashing quite a bit today. Typical DICE launch.

Locked at 60fps 1080p with a mix of high and ultra with post processing/post AA/ambient occlusion turned off.

i5 4670k @4.2
670 2gb
8gb
Win 8.1

Jupp, that looks like OC issue to me. I've seen exact same effects when I OC:ed my card a bit too much. I've since decided, 5-10% performance boost is not worth the headache, running everything at stock hehe.

Going to try ultra settings @ 1680x1050 on:
Core i5 750
AMD 7970 (the very first reference design)
8GB DDR3

Could run ultra decently on BF3, though I think my CPU is getting a bit old.

4770K @4.5
780's SLI
16GB
Win8.1
Driver: 327.23 (I really should upgrade this)

Everything on Ultra at 1080P
120fps most of the time, some dips to 100

I'd say you will have no problem running it at 60 fps with settings on High from what I've seen on this thread.

P.D: I guess it's time for me to change my avatar

The game is pretty much unplayable for me, even after running a variety of settings.

I'm using:

560ti
i5 2500k
4 GB RAM

I'm getting an insane amount of stuttering and hitching that make it a death sentence just to aim to the left or right. My overall FPS is fine.

The game also decides to crash very often, and loading into a match takes minutes.

I hope this gets fixed sometime reasonably.
OS? Even 760s are being beat up by this as long as they're on Windows 7, but suddenly they're on Windows 8.1 and it's fantastic.

... Though I'm more curious to see if the 560 Ti really is becoming obsolete, or it's just BF4 being the odd one out (or a sign to upgrade to 8.1, whichever.)

Those artifacts are most often due to overheating GPU, I used to see them a lot back in the Radeon 8500 days.

GTX 780, i7 920 @ 3.8, 6gb ram, SSD. Getting 80-100ish FPS with all settings Ultra, 4x AA, and 90 FOV. Only problem I'm having is that my game is crashing a lot (ctd with bf4.exe error), about once every 30-60 minutes.

I have almost exactly the same config and I'm getting horrendous performance in 2880x1620 even without AA (!) - 40-60fps in the beginning of level 1, second level when I get to the rooftop and look down at the fountain and stuff it drops below 30fps.

Could there be a problem on my side or does resolution impact performance in such a drastic way?
