Battlefield 4 PC performance thread

How are peoples 2500k's faring?

I've got my overclocked to 4.6GHZ at the moment and it's at 100% load all of the time while BF4 is running.

Constant stuttering in game rendering the game practically unplayable. I only have 4GB of RAM but thats sitting at around 89% load during gameplay so I presume my CPU is bottlenecking.

What GPU(how much vram) and what is your textures option set to?

Mine is pretty stable with the odd small spike here and there.. I'm actually super impressed with how smooth and well this runs, unfortunate for those that aren't getting the same experience.

How do I display those stats?

Has anyone tried this on a lesser PC and could tell me how it runs?

It runs well on my HTPC but I wouldn't mind having a go on my desktop PC for KBAM controls.

Specs:
i3-2120
8GB DDR3 1333MHz
6850 1GB

My monitor is 1080p so Id like to run it at native res but I don't mind low settings.

Also, rather than re downloading 25gb can I copy the game folder, will Origin pick it up?

Thanks

i3 3220
4gb DDR3
GTX460

720p and running great online since upgrading to W8 (W7 was sturrery)

Mine is doing great - same OC as yours. But I'm on Windows 8.1 so no problems. Also, 16GB of RAM...and it's powering R9 290X's in Crossfire.

Mine sits at around 75% during gameplay... (I have 8GB of RAM) and I believe there was benchmarks earlier showing a 2500k (i5 if I'm correct in assuming that's what you mean) doing 60FPS on ultra, 1920x1080. So I don't believe the CPU is a bottleneck though I could be wrong.

Ahh ok thanks for the feedback. I have everything on Ultra and im running a 770 2GB.

But I just went to my flatmates room and nabbed his 8GB of RAM to test with. The game is buttery smooth 60FPS (no drops) with it in. So I guess 4GB is a huge bottleneck for this game.

So playing around a bit, I found that I can set most things on Ultra or High and still get 60+ fps - even with MSAA - other than effects (understandable) and mesh detail (aka draw distance). Weird. Never had a problem maxing that out in 3, on my last gaming PC or this new one.

I have mine at 4GHz and it's usage is 75-85% in game.

I have 8GB but the game doesn't use nearly all of it, I sit at like 70% which is weird. I'm on Windows 8.1

Is that bad? And if so, is there a way a can fix that? (My CPU is a i7 4770k, btw.)

I got the same CPU (4,3GHz) and I just tried it out on the test range, got an almost perfectly straight line at 50%, no spikes like that at all. So there's something strange going on for you.

I picked up Battlefield 3 and it was fine my first couple sessions. (and it runs really well in full Ultra with SSAO instead of HBAO) But I just loaded up my campaign save again and the A button now makes the game go to windowed mode in addition to making me jump. Any idea what's going on? My Google-fu is too weak for this one.

My GPU is a 7970, I also got 16GB of RAM.

Nothing is overclocked.
Any programs open in the background? Check Task Manager. It's not your CPU. 4770K is WAY more than what you need for BF4. Are you using the latest BETA Catalysts? Should be Version 8.

Again, check TM look at CPU Usage, etc. Sort Results. See if anything is acting strange.

Only programs running are Skype, Chrome with 2 tabs (GAF and Battlelog), Avast. ASUS GPU Tweak and FRAPS.

In Task Manager, CPU usage never went above 50% in SP.

Try changing your settings.

From NVIDIA:

"this command displays a small chart on the bottom left corner of the screen designed to provide you with key information about your system's performance during BF3. It shows your graphics card (GPU) usage as a green line, and your processor (CPU) usage as a yellow line. The aim is to ensure that during gameplay neither lines spike frequently to very high levels, as this indicates that the particular resource is being overtaxed, and possibly causing lag and instability. If necessary experiment with your in-game settings until you see a reduction in such spikes."

(source: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/battlefield-3-tweak-guide#12 - same graph, just different way to enable it in the console - applies to BF4, as well)

BF3 and BF4 like vsync. If you disable vsync you will get a perfoverlay graph that looks like those terrible ones on this page.

overclocked my 8350 at 4.9 and ran Prime95 for 24hrs. All fine.
played BF4 for about 6 hours. Hard locked my PC.
Ran prime95 again. Unstable.. what!!?

When are they going to have the mantle framework ready for the R290X to show its chops?

December. We'll know more at their developer conference on the 11th November.

Anyone with SLI experiencing crashes?
Ever since I turned on SLI, I have started experiencing multiple crashes.

Okay, so after a RAM and OS upgrade my final specs until I get an SSD sometime soon are:

i5-3350p @ 3.1 GHz
DDR3 16 GB RAM
GTX 760 2 GB

Running Windows 8.1 Pro and my resolution is 1920 x 1080

With all high settings my FPS tends to range from the 60's to about 100 and I don't think I've ever noticed it drop below 60 for either SP or MP. Using Nvidia's optimizer puts me on all ultra settings and with that I probably average in the 60's or 70's for MP and occasionally dip to the 50's. Though while running single player with ultra settings I sometimes dip into the 40's.

I should note that before I upgraded to Windows 8 I was having massive stuttering issues. Increasing my RAM from 4 GB to 16 GB also showed a pretty sizable FPS increase. 8 GB would probably be enough.

Turning effects to high is a nice boost from ultra with no visible IQ hit.

With that change, no Fxaa, 2x msaa, ultra everything at 1600p, I get above 70fps in MP.

Turning resolution scaling to 125% drops the frame rate into the 50s and pretty much taps out the ram in my 780gtx.

My 2600k @ 4.6 seems to run around 60% used.

2500k @ 4.4

Windows 7

Game runs maxed out flawlessly, occasional dip below 60 but mostly above.
