Battlefield 6 is going to break the concurrent player record of BF franchise on Steam — take a wild guess how high it’ll go.

The issue here is that you cannot feel yourself getting better.

For example, let's say my skill level is 20 (totally arbitrary number). I play a few games in a row against 10 level people and wreck them. Then I get thrown in a game against people skill level 30 and get destroyed.

Six months later my skill level is 40. I'm twice as good as I was before. I now destroy the 30 level people. But when I play against 50 level people I get destroyed. It feels exactly the same.
Totally different type of game but that was the same issue I had with Diablo 4 and the idiotic level scaling.
Me being in an early level area at lvl 15 having a harder time at killing mobs compared to dudes at lvl 5 or 6 completely destroyed my enjoyment of that game.

Even fucking souls like give players a resemblance of a power fantasy, meanwhile these "modern devs" trying to make a game for everybody end up making a pile of turd no one likes.
But then again Call of Duty does continue to sell stupidly well so perhaps the playerbase does want that. Outside of the SP campaigns I haven't been the Call of Duty target audience for more than a decade now.

Call of Communism

It's funny, between people saying the franchise is dead since V, and all the hate towards EA, I would expect GAF and reddit to be more skeptical and cynical. But we got one good showing and y'all came running back thirsty as hell
The BF cycle:

new game trailer -> people get overhyped -> game releases in "bad shape" -> people say it's joever for the franchise -> game gets sort of fixed after some time -> half the community gets warmed to the game/other half wants next game to release asap because they can't stand it -> new game trailer

🤷‍♂️

Has been happening since BF4, only BF1 escaped in the last 12 years and yet here we are. Perhaps one day people will learn.
It does speak to the power of this franchise in the FPS genre though, lesser ones would have been canned long ago, just look at Medal of Honor...
I do question EA's choice of putting all their eggs in this one basket, if they hadn't canned Medal of Honor and Titanfall perhaps they would've achieved their GaaS military FPS dream by now.

Beta could be huge, but i doubt many will buy it day one after 2042.
Yeah about that.....

Ppl are hungry for good non rainbow/purple multiplier shooter, my guess is 300k ccu minimum but wouldnt be surprised if bf6 breaks even 500k.

You said not many will buy it day one. The Steam image i provided proves otherwise. What would sales in six months have to do with it?
Like i told before, there is no competition to it right now. Bf 2042 sold well as well in the beginning. And then it died.

Again nothing to do with what you said. Plenty of people have pre-ordered it, I just gave you evidence.

Its been at or around the top of the revenue charts since the reveal trailer over a week ago. So lots of people will be there day one.

My point still stands. No competition. It has to really blew me away to even consider buying it again.

Game looks nice. I haven't been interested in Battlefield in quite a while but this one might make me come back.

I've always thought of Battlefield being a PC franchise first. Maybe I'm just getting too old.
Was a kid back then, no money. Shit PC, Battlefield 1942 demo, Wake Island 24/7. Those were the times man.

I skipped V and refund 2042 on day one. This looks like a return to some sort of form. It's been a while hopefully there's not too many network issues.

You're talking past me. And as I said, you should compare it six months after release, not now or on day one—that's completely pointless.

Lmao he's not talking past you. Your originally comment was "nobody's gonna buy it day 1" and his screenshot of preorders showed otherwise.

Then you moved the goalposts to "well let's see in 6 months". Then you changed the argument to "well there's no competition"

A fuckton of people are gonna buy this day 1. What longevity looks like is an entirely different discussion that has nothing to do with your original statement.

I see it differently. See you in six months.

Fuck me with a fish fork. You said nobody will turn up day one, I showed you the pre-orders to prove otherwise, nothing more.

Case closed.

I know right lol.

where'd you learn to debate or make arguments? TikTok & Fox News?

You can't blame people for being cautious. Its EA after all.

You don't need a stupid argumentation, just a little search on Google over the past of EA and you will find everything you need to know about why people are cautiously optimistic.

Who mentioned cautious optimism? And why would we need to Google anything? I already provided the evidence.

Is there something in the water today?

Who mentioned cautious optimism?

Fans that are used to like BF franchise before BF2042?

And why would we need to Google anything?

You don't. You can just act as EA is a saint.

I already provided the evidence.

Yeah yeah. Look, people are hyped. We got that, but some will never forget the past EA actions, whatever this game end up being good or not.

I'll play the beta this weekend and make the judgement myself.

bruhhhh

You make one post refuting a single, focused statement and people are going down rabbit holes 😂
🤷‍♂️ IKR

This is all nice and all but has absolutely fuck all to do with my point. Maybe read the thread a bit before replying? I do it myself sometimes no worries.

? huh...that makes zero sense though

Its a new game? Nothing big is coming out right now and it just got introduced.
My point still stands. No competition

It has the same competition the last BF had, Call Of Duty, Fortnite etc...
People do not buy games by default sir, something still needs to be of quality for people part ways with their money. That is like saying you will eat feces cause McDonalds is closed and then be like "Nothing big coming out right now" as the reason you are eating feces.....stop.

No one is doing this.

No one is fucking JUST BUYING a game for lolz, it cost fucking money and TIME to consume such games, thus the game must be of quality to the consumer to part ways with their money. So this whole odd thing of fucking acting like the absence of some other mysterious game MUST be why BF is doing theses numbers on pre-orders is silly. BF is going head to head with the same fucking games they've been going head to head against. This game is already doing bigger numbers then 2042 and its not even out yet.

Buddy went from "i doubt many will buy it day one after 2042." to "who cares about day 1 numbers , NOW 6 MONTHS DOE" and then "Ok, they broke records in those 6 months, but 1 YEAR DOE, THAT IS THE SWEET SPOT"

Stop...

You tried to make a claim, it didn't work, you are now seeking to goal post and now you are seeking to make a whole fake argument that someone is buying the game based on the absence of some other game as if Call Of Duty doesn't exist.
