Totally different type of game but that was the same issue I had with Diablo 4 and the idiotic level scaling. The issue here is that you cannot feel yourself getting better.
For example, let's say my skill level is 20 (totally arbitrary number). I play a few games in a row against 10 level people and wreck them. Then I get thrown in a game against people skill level 30 and get destroyed.
Six months later my skill level is 40. I'm twice as good as I was before. I now destroy the 30 level people. But when I play against 50 level people I get destroyed. It feels exactly the same.
Me being in an early level area at lvl 15 having a harder time at killing mobs compared to dudes at lvl 5 or 6 completely destroyed my enjoyment of that game.
Even fucking souls like give players a resemblance of a power fantasy, meanwhile these "modern devs" trying to make a game for everybody end up making a pile of turd no one likes.
But then again Call of Duty does continue to sell stupidly well so perhaps the playerbase does want that. Outside of the SP campaigns I haven't been the Call of Duty target audience for more than a decade now.
