Man I miss those late night sessions of BSG a couple of years ago. I didn't like the ending or final season, but still a great ride.

I really do not like prequels though. Caprica was far enough in advance that it could have worked (it didn't), but this just seems to close to the events and story of the main series. We'll see, I liked the trailer.

This was a great excuse to use that silly Youtube app on 360. MS still has fucked up color profiles for any video not on their Zune platform...Expect crushed black levels...That bs aside...

The 2 episodes were DOPE. I am really hyped on this. Although last I checked, episode 1 only had around 230,000 views??!

The webisodes somehow remind me of Wing Commander. I wanted the 2004 BSG series to be Wing Commander, though, so I'm OK with this.

I didn't notice the lens flare that everyone's complaining about, so whatevs. I'm mostly glad to have something BSG back.

I just checked ... it says episode 1 has 150,000 views and episode 2 has 42,000. Pretty terrible job of getting the word out, I think.

Well, i can see why this show never made it to prime time. What an abomination to the battlestar name.

EDIT: And what's up with the bright lights? Agh!

Bizarrely, it's not available outside the US, which I think would effect it's viewership within the US as well (word of mouth over social media is a powerful thing). Not sure why they thought that was a good idea. Guess how everyone outside of America is gonna watch it.

I noticed a lot of complaints on Facebook from people in Australia and Italy, yet somehow a Brit or two said they could watch it with no problems.

I agree, they're making the same mistake they've made with BSG for nearly a decade: Failing to release content simultaneously around the world, which encourages people outside the premiere region to use means that cannot be tracked by the suits at NBC nor give said suits any money.

So now the guys in charge will declare Blood & Chrome a bomb and point at the YouTube views and ad numbers as proof. Meanwhile, torrents in Europe and elsewhere see thousands of seeders.

As much as the ending of BSG pissed me off and Caprica was dissapointing... doesn't matter, I am excite!

So why the frak does Adama sound like a 12 year old? His callsign is Husker for a reason..

I really hate the CG sets, it makes it so hard to engage with the show when everything around them looks so fake and drenched in lens flare, motion blur and grain.

Other than that, it was okay I guess, the last few minutes of the second part were great.

Exactly. It's just absolutely atrocious marketing. I tweeted as I watched it and everyone is like THERE'S A NEW BSG??? No one knew about it for starters. And now I have quite a few fellow aussies sending me direct messages asking where to download it..

i just started watching BSG on netflix not to long ago and when Lee was fat i was busting up hahahaha. seriously i love BSG and it sucks cause i have 1 1/2 seasons left. is Caprica any good?

Stop reading the thread, and just enjoy. yes Caprica is good, it's just a really, really slow burn. It's too bad SyFy didn't air it to completion. Space gave Canadians a treat.
Also, in Canada, watched it without issue.

Just watched - that was awesome.

Lens flare, fake sets... blah blah. People are just looking for something to nitpick about. Neither of those bothered me; actually I found the CG pretty impressive for what they're trying to do here.

Would love to see it get picked up as a full series, here's hoping.

just watched episode 1. not bad, not bad. I quite like this direction for some reason. the mortal kombat web series was really hood, the recent halo series was fantastic and now there's this. I really hope we continue to get more of these middle / high production web series.

on topic, it says a 2hr uncut version will be airing in Jan 2013. looking forward to that too.

Does "uncut" mean "no silly sound effects to cover up people saying "shit""?

I hope so.

Hmm looking back at the BSG Razor flashbacks, I guess this kid does look a little bit like the actor who played Adama. Still a little too girly looking for my taste though.

New episodes were awesome!

I really like Coker, he reminds me of Bones from the Star Trek movie. Drunk, hilarious, and always complaining.

Just the hum of the cockpits and the radar and stuff gets me in the mood to watch all of BSG again. This really needs to get picked up.

Also, the new set looked a lot better, without all that lensflare and overexposed light.

Why couldn't the main series have been like this? No Space Jesus with his Space Harem. No Space Angels and no Final Five with a PLAN. Just guys in space ships doing cool shit.

It's too bad this thing isn't going anywhere, short of a miracle. I guess I should be happy that it came out at all.

The first 2 and a half season of BSG were like this.

Did the crew of that Battlestar seem like it was made up of cast from Galactica/Pegasus to anyone else?

They were. The XO and the CAG were Pegasus crewmembers. The CAG was one of the Sunshine boys, in fact.

This is Saved by the Bell: Starship Troopers. Nothing about it sounds, or feels, like Battlestar Galactica. I don't see how this could be compared to any of what actually made the air on Sci-Fi, not even "The Woman King" or "Black Market" - this is all weightless bullshit. It's what Stargate Universe is in its wet dreams. And I'm not referring to how it was made, or the effects being used. I mean the characterization, the acting, the story, such as it is - none of it has any heft, nor gravity.

They're walking action figures yapping at each other.

Perfectly serviceable space opera. Shitty Battlestar.

I don't disagree, but I'm not even sure what "good" Battlestar is at this point.

Season 1.
Most of 2
Half of 3.
Half of 4

Battlestar's biggest nemesis wasn't weird plotting (that was fine) or elements of the religious (there from day one) - it was that Universal/Sci-Fi made them fill 20-22 episodes a season, and the show was always best built for 10-13. Making them do an extra 10 episodes a year, and then making some of those be "bottle" episodes really hurt the storytelling, overall. Arcs got extended way too thin, drama got undercut. There was a lot of punch that was lost.

I'm sure someone, somewhere, has mapped out the list of episodes that you can easily jettison and not lose any key details in the overall narrative, which would make for a tighter, more satisfying show.

But there isn't a sci-fi show made that ever hit the highs of 33, or Water, or Pegasus, or Resurrection Ship 1 & 2, or Exodus pts 1 & 2. Hell, even the midseason finale of 4 is pretty goddamned amazing, as is the first episode of the back half of Season 4.

I'll be honest in that I washed my hands of the franchise after the finale (which is so, so, so problematic in its own right), but I think the show has always been burdened by the mythology. Every episode began with the tagline "They have a plan", which we now know just wasn't true, and anything connected to that aspect of the mythology and the mystery of the Cylons was just completely unfulfilling.

Probably the height of the show for me was the trial of Baltar, but even then, that was just a take on the courtroom drama episodes that Moore would have been familiar with from his TNG days.

I think it's certainly why I'm connecting with this version of the franchise. Yeah, it's not deep in any real manner and comes off as yet another military science fiction show. But with the launch of Star Citizen, the relaunch of Space Battleship Yamato 2199, this is exactly what I want. No-bullshit science fiction about human beings having human experiences in a military SF context.

(I do agree that S1 and parts of S2 were probably the height of the series. That's why I believed that they had a clue what they were doing in terms of what was going to happen in the show. Babylon 5, with its 5 year plan, BSG was not).
