Battlestar Galactica Blood and Chrome Leaked Trailer?

Just finished watching it. I liked it!

It went through the motions, and it wasn't high art, but I was entertained. The story itself was unfortunately a little underwhelming, and it felt like it rushed to its conclusion... I don't know if that's because things were cut out or not. At least when it releases on DVD, we should be able to watch it without a wrench clanging every time a swear word is said.

I wish they would make this into a show... sigh.

But the clanging was the best part!

I really enjoyed it and would love to have been able to see a series based on the "full" colonial might versus the cylons.

The first half of the movie was pure military Sci fi sex.

I should also add that the fact this thread doesn't have 50 pages and stay permanently on page one of OT bodes not well for my hopes of a new series. :(

Syfy is doing its own version of Hoarders now. I don't think they want to go back to scripted dramas ever again, let alone ones about dudes in space. lol

Give it another year or two.
it hasn't even air on TV yet.

It's already dead. This is just an attempt to get some cash out of the corpse. SyFy passed on it awhile ago, and even if it got good ratings (and it won't) they won't foot the bill to make more.

I assume it was better than The Plan though. :p

Ehhhh. The last 20 minutes were probably the best this show had to offer (except, oddly, it's also the segment where the effects are the worst. Some of the lighting/compositing is pretty shitty) but I don't know if those 20 minutes are enough to put it at "The Plan" tier.

I'll say that it's probably better than maybe the episodes Black Market or The Woman King.

Oh, I didn't mean that Blood and Chrome would get picked up, just that eventually there will be a new series in the BSG/SG1 vein.

I dunno.

Doesn't Singer REALLY want to make this movie? I'd imagine if he gets some juice back after Days of Future Past - he does it.

In which case, he's already said he believes he's figured out how to better blend the politics/religion/drama of Ron Moore's series with the braindead pew-pew fun stuff from the original series. I'm curious to see if that's the case.

Well, if you're looking for something in the same vein that's out now, you may want to check out Space Battleship Yamato 2199. I guess it's better known as Starblazers here, but it's a remake of the original cartoon with modern sensibilities (and some bad anime tropes unfortunately).

Still, I think it's nailing military scifi and it's really the only game in town at the moment.

Not sure about making it into a show, but I did appreciate it for what it was.

- Syfy’s ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ (Finally) Gets TV Premiere Date
Deadline.com said:
The network’s Battlestar Galactica prequel has been hurtling through space in various incarnations since Syfy decided last March not to go forward with the pilot for a potential series. Instead, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome debuted as a weekly web series on the Machinima Prime YouTube channel, garnering around 8 million views. The network is now following through on its promise to give it an airdate, setting February 10 from 9-11 PM for its world TV premiere as a two-hour full-length movie. The Universal Cable Productions pic will include scenes not included in the online release, and it will be available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on February 19. Blood & Chrome is set during the first Cylon war and centers on young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino). David Eick is executive producer along with Michael Taylor, who wrote the teleplay from a story by Taylor, Eick, Bradley Thompson and David Weddle. All are veterans of Syfy’s original Battlestar series. Jonas Pate (Caprica) directed.

So I watched it tonight.

I thought it was decent for any other show on Sci-fi (or Syfy or whatever) but ultimately rather shallow. It didn't help that you aside from Adama, you were being introduced to characters really quickly which were then discarded, but the entire two hours, you just didn't really know WHAT they were doing or WHY, and when you finally find out, it's ultimately underwhelming and just seems like it should be a mid-season 2 parter rather then the pilot or introduction to this period. Compare this to the original BSG mini-series which clearly set up its universe, goals and drama or even to the Caprica 2 hour movie with its emotional heft (i.e. the Joseph/William talk about their family name.)

Another problem (and one that's hard to avoid) is the fact that the world is now so familiar to us all that have watched the series. The revelations
at the end with pre-Six, and human experimentation
don't really have that much of an effect since we've seen it many times before, hell even IN a young Adama flashback in Razor.

Anyhow, it probably sounds like I'm being harsh on it, but I enjoyed it although they definitely leaned more on the whiz-bang-pop moments to the detriment of maybe getting to know the characters more.

There's no chance this is a backdoor pilot right? It's pretty much done?

I thought Blood and Chrome was crap. I didn't like the actor playing Adama. Should of got the guy who played younger Bill during Razor to reprise the role.

It was made as a back door pilot that went nowhere. People didn't expect it to come out at all, actually, since it was completed a couple of years ago and just sat on a shelf somewhere.

Hmmm that makes sense. And Moore had nothing to do with this right? It kinda shows...
