What the hell is there to do around here?

God, this is the third time I'm here for another 12 weeks on an internship and I don't have anything to do. Advice?

rent a car, if you can, and drive up and down the coast.

Done it many times, and while very enjoyable, can't really be done on say... a friday night. What's a good place to find out about different events, cultural things, concerts, festivals, comedy things, I dunno, anything. I've gone to citysearch but I just couldn't really find much.

If you want information on events, concerts etc. etc. that are happening in the bay area, check out the Datebook found in the Sundays papers. It has listings of everything imaginable thats happening during the week. Good luck, have fun while here!

the guardian has a good concert listing. if you have a car, there are some good roads (wildcat canyon, point richmond, etc.) nearby.

chinese movies at the five star!

non-weekend nights, I'd say. I haven't been in a while, but friday and saturday always seemed to be packed with the annoying white college kids.

Skip and Dave, you guys are my favorite people referenced in this sentence, but man, the Buddha bar is a pit.

I think the SJ Mercury News' Eye Magazine, which comes with the Friday editions, is better. It covers everything from classical music to restaurants and nightclubs, and it's not just special events. It also tells you what the cover charge is for a nightclub, etc...
