BBC 6 Music is the best radio station out there still though.

Bring back Adam and Joe. I remember doing raids listening to them ( playing WoW on weekends, stream was a Saturday, was glorious).

So much weird music on it.

Even competed against themselves with making music, was pure comedy.

I used to love the old Doctor Who, but the new one makes me want to vomit the BBC news well they just make up stuff for their own agenda few other series I have seen have also been horrible, I don't watch east enders or anything like that.

Nobody should buy that left wing bias in BBC angle and should be aware of where it is coming from.

1. Rupert Murdoch who hates the licence fee (and media regulation) because it makes it harder for him to compete in the UK TV/Radio news/politics market. Politicians in the UK cowtow to Murdoch just because he claims to act as "kingmaker" such as when he backed Tony Blair and Thatcher with his tabloids.

2. The Tories have pushed this narrative just as a way to bully the BBC into not reporting about internal Tory party controversy such as the one that is going on right now. Pravda Comrade!

Good. I'm no Tory but the enemy of my enemy is not my friend. The BBC might be mandated to remain impartial but the public does not believe they've managed it. Everything else on the entertainment side is superfluous.

Reminder that if you engage in nothing that the BBC produces, you still have to pay a licence fee to watch Channel 4 so that the BBC can produce fucking Eastenders. There is no universe in which that is not archaic and bonkers.

Time for an incredibly overdue change.

It's gonna be met by applause in many circles but this is a net loss for the UK. Every country should have a (on paper) impartial public service broadcaster, and this is a nail in the coffin for that.

Same tactics they have been and will continue to use on the NHS. Defund, degrade, lambast and ultimately privatise a once world leader. Sad that people keep cheering on the total dismantlement of the UK, left and right.

The BBC should be reevaluated and reformed, but I don't agree with this effective death warrant at all.

Hopefully we'll have a new government in 2024 and this will prove toothless.

about time. i wish i could be excited though but with the tories in control they will be using this as a way to get more control somehow. if the BBC is to be funded by tax then it's only gonna get worse.

i don't really like BBC news as it's so tory/england focused. but the BBC is more than just a news channel. there is a lot of great TV shows, radio programs, music, etc. something is gonna need to be sold off/cut if funding is an issue.

The BBC still retains a lot about it that is very good. The quality of the documentary output alone is fabulous.

But it has become something of a hotbed and a magnet for people who come from a pretty specific political point of view. And I'm talking here from personal experience. I know people who work for the BBC, and used to work for the BBC. Sadly types of those people have made the corporation a place where only their points of view are heard with any real volume, and that's been highly detrimental to an organisation that is meant to be balanced.

Also, the licence fee is archaic and needs to be altered greatly, if not done away with completely. It's insane to require someone to pay a fee to watch TV channels that aren't even the BBC. I'm fully behind the idea of the licence remaining if you want to watch BBC output, but if you don't, there should be no requirement for you to pay it.

The next series and 60th anniversary are already being done by an external studio for the first time ever. Bad Wolf Studios (set up by previous showrunner Russell T Davis) were granted the contract to take the show in a direction they please.

This could be a stop gap if they do it well since they could be granted full use of the Who IP and then license it out themselves similar to Big Fish.
