This is my beard at almost 4 weeks.
Hoping to get more density in my cheeks in the upcoming weeks.

Wow. Nice. Yours is just like my beard. Darker on the jawline, neck and chin. But light on the cheeks. I got a few spots not connecting like the mustache to beard but it looks good nonetheless. Will post pictures soon. It actually looks better than a few months ago now that I don't touch it but shape up every few days.

How can I grow this

6 months in, will probably have another 6 months before I have to shave so ima ride it out

without trimming my beard & end up looking like this?

Letting my beard grow without trimming makes me look like a homeless person. Loose ends & longer hairs all over. Not uniformed & straight like that.

When I do trim to get a cleaner look, all my beardness goes to zero & I look like I have some stubble than I do a beard.

I love my beard but hate it. I have dirty blonde hair yet my facial hair is straight ginger. Cartman would call me a daywalker. Been letting it grow out since september and parts are starting to curl.

Hey, thanks!
I'd like to see your pics!

I haven't posted here yet? Impossible!

So I've always had a scruff (or a very short beard - 1cm at most), but since it's No Shave November, I've decided to let it grow (only cutting off hair that are much longer than others or too curly) and on December 1st see what to do next. My result after the first week:

However, here's my nemesis - my cheeks:
The hair on my cheeks are rather thin and there's a slight bald patch on my left cheek :/ And since I haven't clean shaved since forever I know it's not gonna fill up anytime soon (at least not until my body decides that it's time to start letting hair grow there - which may never come).

I hate
envy
all you guys with full dense facial hair on your cheeks. :(

Also, any advices how to survive the period between a very short beard and a longer beard? Nowadays, when I don't comb my beard (especially on sides) every now and then, hair start to become very curly and it looks kind of messy.

I don't know how to control the hairs on my beard.
It looks like every hair points to a different place, it's very wiry.
Also, it is dry as hell, I use jojoba oil every day but also use shampoo every day, I'll only use shampoo once per week to see if it changes something.

What do you people with longer beards do with your mustache? Mine's getting annoying when eating or spending time with ladies. I'm worried if I trim the mustache a little bit it's going to look ridiculous.

Nah I trim mine. Usually I just cut anything that overflows onto my upper lip. Occasionally I trim it back. I dont know the actual length, but it's the max setting on my trimmer.

So I've been trying to grow a beard for about a month. I've noticed parts of my beard are pretty fair though or lighter so it doesn't look as full in some parts. It's also growing a bit unevenly. For example the bits near the edges of my mouth grow faster than under my nose. Is it worth keeping on growing it and seeing how it goes? I'm just unsure if it'll actually get thicker and fuller or just longer. Also, what's the best way to trim it and keep it even?

You should post pictures.

I would say go at least 3 months will no trimming or anything, then post pics and we will tell you whether to keep going

Mine looks kind of like Zombie's, but a little thinner on the sides. I trim it every couple of weeks, as per the mustache measuring system that I assume everyone else uses (when it starts to get in the way). I've had it for years in different forms.

No pics but I'm fairly happy with mine. I keep the sides short and allow the chin part to grow. Everyone seems to like it but my wife doesn't want it any longer.

Letting me beard grow out for a year, about 2 months in. Thankfully my wife loves the beard! I expect to have a massive beard by September for the Winfield bluegrass festival in Kansas, imma fit right in lol

Beard-GAF is ridiculously handsome.

me and the sun and the sky, I only get some scruff on my cheeks so an epic beard like those displayed in this page is not possible.

Today I accepted the inevitable - that I will never be able to grow full beard :( My cheek hair are too thin and grow too sparsely. Even after growing the beard for ~2 month (and not shaving at all for almost 2 years now) you could see baldish spots and skin showing through on my cheeks and jawline; it didn't look pretty. So I decided to keep the goatee (thankfully at least that's where my facial hair are strong) and a stubble.

I already miss being able to stroke the beard :(

I hope that what people say - that men keep growing new facial hair even in their 40 - is true. Maybe one day.

Yeah man no need to give up! That shit looks good imo. grow it out and then shave it, re grow it again it, shave it, etc. comes in thicker every time dude. I had the same exact issue and mine is just now starting to come in thicker on the sides of my face, but the right side of my face still is a little straggly and I wish it would grow in thicker but it's definitely improving.

Been a while since I posted in here, some damn fine beards still.

Updates.

Me in Sept 2014:

Quite happy with it.

Me yesterday:

Overgrown mess but I don't care :)

And then...

Me today:

Semi regular summer shave. I'll then grow and keep a beard until this time next year. Summers are just too hot here lol.

Yes they are, and you're no slouch.

What? That is a fine beard. Full coverage on your chin, a decent moustache, and somewhat sparser sideburns. Far from a lost cause. :)
